They outright say in the story that he was part of the moderate faction and that there’s a huge difference between worshipping and supporting ppl like Pandora and being actually proper religious folk and supporting the discriminated against elves
@@HalofreakanoidYes you are right, I think the person is probably confused on something Tappei said or misunderstood. Betelgeuse was part of the moderates, we simply dont know what they wanted. Geuse did still call himself a sinner, its very possible he did stuff he didn’t want to. But we simply dont have the information. He did not raid or attack villages
Notice how Subaru and Mother Fortuna were both mentioned to have “mean looking eyes” so that’s probably a factor for why Emilia was able to bond with him so quickly

I love the fact that after this flashback you can hear thet Emilia picked up her way of speaking from Fortuna, for example the way both of them say "Sugo~ku" like in 5:42 . Little details you can find.

Echidna does hate Emilia not just cuz of Subaru. She was mocking her prior to Subaru’s rejection so she has a personal distaste for Emilia, in a similar fashion to her dislike of Satella.
A lot about Emilia is still open in the novel, but with the information from the current arcs one thing becomes increasingly evident:

Emilia is probably a backup for Satella, arc 6 and arc 8 addressed the concept of "backup" and the concept of "dividing", starting with the concept of dividing, basically the authority of gluttony is capable of dividing souls/people, Louis in arc 6 used the authority of gluttony to divide herself and divide subaru, she then placed that half of her in his body and so they both became the "same person" for a period of time (and Louis took control of the body at times to try to manipulate Subaru into doing atrocities).
Now the backup concept was addressed through echidna and sphinx, sphinx is a failed attempt by echidna to place her soul in another body, in this case only some data of echidna went to sphinx and during arc 8 sphinx managed to complete the data that was missing and for a period of time she became a new witch of greed.
With this we have confirmation that omega will at some point become echidna (and in this way echidna will regain all of her power, a detail that for those who don't know because the anime cut out, echidna managed to have a body in arc 4 and she left and took the souls of all the witches with her), now as a theory the hypothesis that satella split herself in the past (probably when her soul collapsed when absorbing the envy factor) becomes increasingly strong, and in this case Emilia became a backup for satella (and they are literally identical, a detail that the author has already confirmed in a side story that Emilia is over 400 years old even though the child Emilia is at most 117 or 118 , he's rubbing it in our faces that Emilia has existed since the time Satella became the witch of envy).
