    My mom use to make it during our school days and I hated it. Now at the age of 40 searching for this recipe. Truly said parents advice at the age of 14 is heard and considered at the age of 40. Thnx for this recipe

    Just add buttermilk, small onions and raw mango pieces. Also add fried butter milk chilly to this mix. Have it as savoury. Drink. It tastes much better

    Tried this recipe and it's taste good with coconut/almond milk. As we cannot add salt so better if consumed adding jaggery

    Fermented water-rice (aka as Pakhala in Odisha) is abundant In vitamin 12. It is the staple food of Odisha.

    very good video. a suggestion.to improve the fermentation,please keep some water in which the raggi is soaked aside,then when the boiled raggi cools down,add the same water to it in the pot,this will help good bacteria better...............

      I have a few questions I hope you will be able answer.
      1. Approximately how much of the fermented Ragi do yoi recommend using when adding nutmilk per glass?
      2. How long can the mixture be kept for (shelf life)?
      3. I heard that it should not be stored in a fridge as it stops the continuous fermenting process?
      4. I am making this recipe for one person, so is it okay to take a glass (with added milk) everyday until the mixture is all used up?

      After 6 to 8 hours of fermentation, you can store it in the fridge for 2 days. Same process like making curd.

    Your recipes are super healthy and quite easy too....but do mention them with the appropriate time to consume and also whether it can be stored....also in the barley water what do with the cooked barley after consuming the water .... please i request you to cover these points too to help .....

    There used to be a festival in Chennai, where Ragi Kuzh with buttermilk n onion used to be served for everyone.

      Yes, I have seen it in the 1960s as a child in the temples, I think Mariamman where they would serve koozh & people would take containers & collect it standing in the queue during the Summer season.

    Make with other millers as well. Millets ka purchase link bhi dedo description mai. And millets ka hindi/ marathi naam bhi baata do, so market mai jake maang tho sakte hai

    It is widely used in South Indian States , and butter milk is added for fermentation.

    I prepare it differently.
    Cook red non polished rice and slowly add dissolved ragi flour paste in it. Keep overnight to consume for breakfast as per choice.

      Rice is optional but adds to the flavour and starchy taste. Fermented rice also contains B complex

    High sugar and high carb. Don’t be mistaken millets have high carbs. Sugars will spike. Good fermentation tips, I will combine this with almond flour 3parts. 1 part fermented Ragi to control sugar. It is a mistake to think that this is a diabetic friendly food on its own.

    If using ragi atta then how to add rice in that? Or only ragi atta? How much quantity of ragi atta? How do you store this? I can see you added so much water at intervals so a large quantity is made.

      Ragi wont get blended into a smooth paste without the rice. You can try blending ragi with a few pods of cardamon.
