Your gameplay was too good! I really enjoyed how you made a different voice for each character and I think you made the right choices for your crew to stay alive under these crazy conditions. Looking forward for the full version of Dredge next!
Absolutely, not too long now, can't wait! 😄
I was truly disappointed with the game that after you seemingly had to make the most impactful decision in the game (after the ice crack/tent fire) the whole management system just ceased to exist. So many wounded/frostbitten and as a player almost desperately screaming at the game; 'OMG WHAT NOW?' the game basically just coasts until the end.
I feel they should have kept the resource management in for a little longer.
Other than that it was a very good game and captivating story/characters
Perhaps, although I'd have certainly lost a lot more people!
True, it seems saving any tens is useless as you eon't need any of the stuff anyway
That is my only gripe. It felt like half the game stopped at that point which is a shame.
Oh my gosh I was starting to choke up during the vote 🥹 I haven't felt this invested in a game since Disco Elysium. I'm going to miss this crew. Thanks for sharing BD.
You're very welcome, enjoyed this one a lot!
Yeah I used way to long on the last part because I chocked up to much 😆
My GOD, I just discovered this channel because of this game but your voice acting is truly IMPECCABLE! I don't think I've ever enjoyed a playthrough as much as I have this one simply because of all the unique voices ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! 😄
I wish you could have done the ending with sailing the Viscount and tree out as well. I guess that gives me a reason to buy the game. Thanks for the fun journey!
You're welcome! 😄
Well, I thoroughly enjoyed this series! My one issue is if Minerva had access to an ice breaker, why didn't the old broad send that in the first place?!
Good point! 😂
That is big reveal of the game - all that time, there was icebreaker available. Temperance and Viscount look like something from 1845, like John Franklin have, sailing ship retrofitted with early steam engine. Wait, there is 1910 camera, movies, and 1920+ metal icebreaker.
@@petrberanek4230 I don't think the game takes place in our world. I thought it was a fictional setting that had a mix of late 19th and early 20th century tech.
@Boring Dad Gaming "I know just what I'll do! Instead of sending my iron clad with an armored prow, I'll trust a drunk old sea dog to find me an old sailing ship! Retrofitted with an old train engine! Then we'll send her south!"
I'm just saying if I was Shaw I wouldn't accept the next job offer from the Appertons lol
@@petrberanek4230 She set us up to fail! 😮
Fantastic! Thank you for sharing both endings with us in the same video. Waiting for yet another video I'm afraid would have felt a bit like waiting for rescue in that cabin! I hope Stanbury and her puppies are doing alright...
You're very welcome! I reckon Stanberry and co did just fine 😄
Thank you. Your different voices made it easy to invest in the story.
Aw, thanks for that, glad you enjoyed it! 😄
I got grimley on my side and he rejected hunts as first mate lol
For my ending i sailed the viscount carrying the tree haha. I was thinking that shipp should have been full of leaks with those roots tangling around
Cool, was there any explanation about what happens if you save the tree?
@@boringdadgaming sadly it was just a sailing scene where everyone is happy and the last journal entry starts.
I haven't even met the lady you encountered when you decided to stay in the cabins and wait for rescue.
Thanks to your playthrough I only needed to figure out what Grimley likes to earn his reputation hehe.
@@Sprcd That's a shame. If I have one minor criticism, it's that I'd like more of a post-ending narration of what happens after you make your choice
Thank you for this! I loved the way you used different voices, and you did them so well! You really made the experience great for me and I thank you!
You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed it! 😄
This channel is criminally under viewed!!
I came for ‘The Pale Beyond’, intrigued by an ad in the papers, but stayed like so many others for the masterful voice acting. I am also amazed by how rarely there was cause to scream at the screen in frustration at the choices of the player, you so rarely put a foot wrong and it seems not many who have played the game can say the same.
Seems rather a shame there isn’t more replay-ability. I’d have liked to keep watching the channel, this content in particular. Maybe you could try for a perfect play through? Or make conspicuously different dialogue choices? Smash the accordion? Let the song play first though! It saddens me that if the endings are anything to go by it seems the game does not really have a second play through within it. If nothing else I’d love to see you make at least one more video or two and perhaps use the opportunity to segue to marketing the other videos on your channel so that those that were absorbed by this content might stay for some others.
Best of luck either way. I’m off to pet Stanberry and steal his captain’s hat.
Thanks for the positive feedback! I think I'm probably done with the game, at least for now, but glad you enjoyed the playthorugh! 😄
@@boringdadgaming I’ll cross my fingers, selfishly, for more of something similar then! Slow paced/adventure/mysteries combined with your gaming experience and voice acting talent to compliment cooky characters is a match made in heaven. Just when you think the market is saturated something like this comes along and everything changes. Grateful for your work.
@@jackwhite8693 Keep an eye out for Dredge at the end of the month, but in the meantime you might enjoy my Roadwarden playthrough 😄
Just watched the full playlist and i loved it.
Your voice-acting is amazing and u should consider use it in a professional way.
U should try contact some game-developers and offer your voice for them! ;)
I wonder why your channel dont have much more attention. oO
U deserve much more than this!
At the end, much more important is u enjoy it and have fun.
I will share this playlist on my social media. Hope this might help reach more ppl.
Looking forward watching more of your content.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it 😄
If the big icebreaker found you before Stanberry gave birth, I feel like the rest of the puppers would still be surviving on penguins just round the corner. The ship better have gone back for our doggos in the Rescue ending! 🤣
I mean, I have to assume that's exactly what happened lol
I was getting major "Mountains of Madness" vibes from this early on expecting some sort of Eldritch God at the end of it like you mentioned.
Personally I think the Shotty was probably the weapon of choice for the seal incident. May have had to wait until you could see the whites of its eyes though.
Quite a little gem of a game reminded me a little of the moral compass in the Mass Effect series. Would be fun to see a renegade style playthrough ,where you are just mean as Hell to everyone; might be a short run though ;)
Maybe one day!
I have to say the best part of your voice over and readings is dogs barks! It's really great and makes me laugh all the time!
Haha, nice! 😄
@@boringdadgaming don't get me wrong it's all very good and entertaining but barks alone made my day so much better! So thank you for that. XD
Interesting choice to go for the anorchist ending as the cannon ending for your playthrough. This game is going on my wishlist. I am new to this channel and your narraration has been great throughout the playthrough!
I wonder what kind of possible sequels could follow if this game is a success! would the three major branching paths lead to individual expansions/sequels of their own?
1. Burn the tree
2. sail with the tree
3. Get rescued
I am also curious about what happens if you eat the fruit.
seems like they laid out the groundwork for some pretty interesting world-building.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😄
I really enjoyed the voice acting it made the gameplay much more interesting and entertaining. You gained another subscriber.
Thanks, and welcome to the channel! 😄
Found your channel while looking for stuff on this game and really enjoyed your content. If you don’t already read for audio books as a career you should definitely look into it you’d be great!
Thanks so much! 😄
Hey boring dad! If you are looking for a demo to play - I think you might like lakeburg legacies!
Interesting, haven't heard of that one, will look it up!
i liked the ending but it just leave me with more question did they survive after the first ending
how was their life after the journey it was a great ending but it left me with itch unscratched and our main man shaw what become of him
i feel connected with the journey but at the end i feel like reading a haft written book without a full ending
Yes, I feel like it definitely needs an epilogue. Maybe they'll add one eventually?
Just finished this game . Theyve added epilogues now which is quite nice. See what happened to the crew when we returned home
Might have to revisit!
God damn, I just finished the game with rescuing the Tree (which I understand is sentient and it wanted to manipulate me so I defy Hunt and help it escape burning and eruption) and I am so disappointed that it does not have real ending. "End journey" button is not the ending. We had a poet photographer on the ship, couldn't she describe the crew's feats and their future, impact of their choices or at least, of bringing the Tree to civilization etc. ?
How the hell, during the dev meeting about the ending of the game, they decided that the good idea is to not have an ending at all ? Is it going to be a free DLC like in Mass Effect ?
I'm sure I remember seeing something about the devs working on the ending a little bit more, can't remember where though!
@@jamesevans1530 Glad you enjoyed it! 😄I might feature the new content at some point, the problem is finding the time with my big backlog of games to feature!
These videos have been super cozy and the voice acting was great, thank you!
You're welcome! 😄
nope, not buying. Was going to until the dogs episode. Love the voice over, enjoying it
I'm glad you like the series at least! It is quite a traumatic game to play
So the woman who hired them shows up in a huge ship & they don't even see if the dogs are alive?
Good point!
Overall a very enjoyable game/playthrough to watch. I don't love that they went with magic fruit at the ending - I was hoping for a more rational conclusion but oh well. It's one tiny issue I had with an otherwise engaging story.
I think Hammond was probably my favorite character through and through. I have a real appreciation for the no-nonsense types. You always know where you stand with them. 😊
Super nice play through and voice acting!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! 😄
Its a travesty that you do not have more subscribers, i enjoyed this playthrough tremendously! Great job and thanks for reading/acting all the dialogue out loud. I made mostly the same choices as you but i managed to get a few more people killed xD
Found this channel for this game specifically but I'm looking forward to watching you play more stuff - hopefully more story heavy games like this one
Thanks very much, and welcome to the channel! 😄 There's plenty of story-heavy games on my channel, but I would definitely recommend the likes of Roadwarden, Citizen Sleeper, Teenage Exocolonist and Dredge for starters!
I really enjoyed your playthrough. I love the ending you chose as canon! Still I would love to see what happens when you eat the fruit...
Thanks again for your storytelling talent. Like I told you before in my email, I'm glad I discovered your channel.
Great to have you on board also, cheers! 😄
'The voices might be a con for some people rather than a pro-' _Absolutely_ not, Mr BoringDad, sir, the voices you give characters are the entire reason I watch your channel! As someone who a) lives halfway around the globe from my own dad, and b) is a fully-grown adult, it's a delight to listen to you play through these games and get nostalgic over the long-forgotten memories and magic of bedtime stories, and the voices are _integral_ to that, including the bits where you forget what voice you gave which character ^_^
😂 Amazing! Thanks for the feedback, and for watching!
Thank you for the playthrough as always captain. It has been a good sail. It seems that the fruit has the power to alter the past, if you ate the fruit you would be able to see the different timelines, go back in time and change the past. Hunt has chosen other people as the first mate, however, no other people can make it to the tree. Until he realized something, when he interviewed us in different timelines we gave him different answers unlike the other crews. Everything else is constant, but we the player is a variable. We can ask him why he still takes the dangerous route that causes the ship to be struck when he already knows that it is going to happen, he answers "it seems that Captain Hunt is always a stubborn idiot is a fact."
I was expecting something lovecraftian at the beginning of the playthrough but a fruit that grants the power to see different timelines and alter the past?. Why does it exist? Who created it? Did our benefactor know about its power? Well, I don't think I'm too far off from my assumption.
Great work as always, just like Pentiment, your voice acting really make every character feel alive. Looking forward to future game playthrough.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I agree, it would have been nice to know more about the fruit, in addition to what happens after you get an ending, but hey-ho
Like others mentionned, your voiceover of the different characters was so good! I really liked your gameplay, thank you!
Thanks so much for watching, and also the lovely feedback! 😄
good reeads def not boring ;)
Glad you enjoyed it! 😄
I do wonder what happens in the 1st ending if you opt to sail back with the ship and keep the tree intact.
Apparently you just see the ship (plus tree) sailing away. The one thing I would add to the game would be an epilogue or something that tells you the consequences of your ending choice!
@@boringdadgaming Oh thats a let down. Yeah I agree the game needs an epilogue. Its strange that the canon ending has less closure than the non-canon neutral ending
@@boringdadgaming We're working on some additional epilogue content to include in a future update!
@@thombrosis Fantastic, look forward to seeing that! 😄
Thougrougly loved this series thank you for your wonderful narration. Can I ask a request what happens if you save the tree and sail on the ship.
Glad you enjoyed it! I honestly don't know, I only played the endings shown here. But if anyone who's played it knows, please let us know!
Loved this whole playthrough, thanks for sharing :D I appreciate you showing us the alternate ending
Glad you enjoyed it! 😄
Fantasticc playy thank you for sharing this with us, your voice acting give the character more feel.
I'm glad, thanks! 😄
Excellent story and playthrough. Thanks BDG!
You're very welcome! 😄
beautiful game
Thanks, I really did enjoy playing this one
Will really miss this series 😞
Your voice acting was superb 👌
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😄
I throughly enjoyed it, thank you for letting us be able to watch you play it out
You're welcome! 😄
Great playthrough! Good voices
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😄
Thanks!
And thank you too! :D
amazing series, and still after all this effort u still didn't get grimleys vote lmao, a stubborn man lol
I know, what an ungrateful git! 😂
From my playthrough, I have one negative and always choose statement and decisions that should always prioritize the crew. Lastly when discovering the viscount, you should yell and don't choose focus. It got me the last rep to have him on my side ol
Really enjoyed watching you play this
I'm glad! Thanks for watching 😄
Thanks for taking the time to play!
You're welcome, I had fun! :D
I'm curious if we can prevent 3 dead people from joining hunt
I'd not thought of that. I suspect it's a scripted event, but it's an interesting idea
@@boringdadgaming but when the boiler explode we can go to ease people's tensions. It's it like the moment to stop them from running away?
It seems impossible as it will ruins hunt script
I would have chosen grimley as my first mate if given the choice. Also, left me wondering what would happen if you don't burn the tree. Oh well, that's something I'll see when I play this myself. har!
Possibly, although Hunt picked him first (and also Grimley still hates my guts lol)
@@boringdadgaming yeah. Ecactly why I'd have chosen him haha. Could have been spicy.
If you have both Grimley and Junior's loyalty, Hunt's little segment is just both of them telling him to shove it
@@Sackboi11 Haha, awesome 🤣
Chose grimley as well as first mate
Really enjoyed the playthrough and voice acting :)
Thanks so much for the feedback, and for watching! 😄
