I’d like to know what impact this ruling has on New Jersey’s prohibited firearms list. Will NJ be forced to get rid of the prohibited list? From the looks of it, this ruling only applies to the AR15. Not acceptable!
Probably no affect at all. We were able to have AR15s already but had to pin stocks and muzzle brakes/compensators. Don't see this affecting that at all
The judge is definitely a coward for only ruling on the colt model. And a coward for upholding the 10 round limit. There are no laws going back to our constitutional rights which limit ammo capacity. This judge is a clown and should retire in disgrace.
Yup. This is not a repeal of the ban, it removes ONE model from the ban list. Got an M1 Carbine in NJ? You're going to jail. Got a mag over ten rounds? You're going to jail.
As a Jersian myself, the biggest issue is majority keeps voting gun grabbing democrats. Hopefully the next governor will be a republican. With the Supreme Court ruling on Bruen decision, getting back our gun rights will be better under a republican governor.
Considering that you could buy an AR-15 every day of the week just barrel pinned and stock fixed, what exactly did we win. Can you have one with a threaded barrel, and an adjustable stock????? What has changed!
I was thinking the same thing so basically I can unpin my stock “so I can adjust it” and i guess drill out my pinned muzzle break and change them as I please not a big win but a start I rather have “ Standard capacity mags” then these 10 rounds
And if will do NOTHING. The Bruen decision made the pistol licensing WORSE in NY, especially with the southern counties such as Suffolk & Nassau counties. My once restricted CARRY license is now a PREMISE license, without informing me, just via the stroke of a pen. I takes 2 YEARS in Suffolk to get a license to simply keep a pistol in your home, drive 4 hours Northeast to NH, and it takes 15 minutes and they have constitutional carry. NY political leadership says AR Style rifles are “kid killers”, “war rifles”, “killing machines”, yet every cop in Penn Station, NY is carrying one and the security that protects the people banning these possess them.

Great video...thank you! One can always tell where a person/Judge stands politically by the terms they use. The Left uses "Assault Rifle" and "Assault Weapon" interchangeably. "Assault Rifles" are capable of automatic fire, are used by the military, and are unavailable to the majority of citizens since 1934 NFA (with a couple of exceptions - ex. 1934 Machine Gun Stamp Act). "Assault Weapon" is a term made up by the left to apply to all "scary-looking" "black guns."...it applies to emotion and not function.
You're missing the point. The goal isn't to get specific weapons unBanned. The goal is to eradicate their definition. New Jersey currently says you're a rifle cannot have a collapsible or folding stock, it can't have a threaded barrel it can't have a pistol grip if you have too many of these components combined and that's what makes it an assault rifle. What we need to do is eliminate the definition of an assault rifle. Most of those rifles were on the banned list because they contained more than two of the things on that list, they had a collapsible stock and a pistol grip and a threaded barrel and as such fell under their assault rifle definition. It's the definition that needs to go we don't need to unban specific rifles.
I’m still looking to move out of state, visiting Oklahoma is refreshing, having everything you can ever want available with no restrictions. I love the idea of a “Free State” I’ll miss pizza but I rather have my firearms as the manufacturer intended.
Unfortunately the court held the law was only unconstitutional as applied to the AR-15 and not all semiautomatic rifles/carbines of similar type and the court left the 10-round mag limit in place which is ridiculous. So both sides intend to appeal.
I mean, overturning the ban on colt AR15s doesn't really change anything. Still have 10 round mag limits, still have to pin your stocks and pin/weld a brake/compensator on the barrel if it's threaded
@@CR3W1SH03S 10 mag cap makes them look silly in NJ smh. I have my eye on the Sport III though. I won't be in New Jersey forever. PA and DE are looking appealing.
The colt AR-15 comes by default with 25-30 round magazines. It’s not “high capacity” as a Honda civic doesn’t have a “high tire count” it has 4 tires like any car.
My M-4 is AWESOME ! 6 point stock , valkyrie belt fed upper / generation 3 trigger system / bipod / heavy quick change barrels with muzzle brake . Something that can’t be owned in NJ
Great....Colt AR 15 may be legal, however...........................what about the 1)pistol grip....2) Ability to accommodate 30 rd mag......3) Bayo lug.........Every Colt AR 15 that I've seen, contained all 3.....which is a no-no in NJ (1-3 pt scale). So.....how does this figure into the possibility of the "Colt AR-15" becoming legal in NJ?
This ruling is sooooo shaky, if someone goes to jail for any other make with the same features I see no way a judge is going to say the manufacturer makes a difference.
thats a long opinion piece!, AR is a pretty common rifle design and really on any shelf these days as well as the parts you can find to upgrade and repair it, the magazine in a 10 is sometimes harder to get and they charge more for them
This is encouraging news, but I'm not going to hold my breath. If/when these cases get to SCOTUS, we might see some relief (if we manage to live that long). It's probably easier to just move, and most of my Pro-2A friends have already done so. This "high capacity" Mag ban definitely needs to go, as well as NJ's definition of an "assault" firearm. I don't recall EVER hearing about anyone getting "bayoneted", have you? With regard to all the compact and full size pistols I've looked at recently, what NJ considers a "high capacity" magazine is just a plain old "Standard capacity" magazine anywhere else. Just about ALL modern semi-auto pistol mag holds more than 10 rounds "right out of the box". Every compact or full size pistol I've seen (Canik, Glock, Sig, Walther, BUL Armory, etc.) all have 12, 15 or or sometimes even 17 rounds "standard". Those manufacturers have made "state compliant" versions of their products to keep our "petty tyrants" quiet. Standard capacity mags have been demonized as high capacity just because they exceed an arbitrary number conjured up by bureaucrats. If a manufacturer doesn't make a "State Compliant" model of their pistol for NJ, then it's unattainable here unless you can find a FFL dealer in a "free state" who will ship it to a local FFL dealer here (in the Socialist Republic of NJ), and that local dealer is willing to modify the mags before transferring the mags to you. Most dealers I've spoken with would rather forfeit the sale than go through all that trouble. A lot of out of state dealers won't ship a mag over 10 rounds to NJ, period. One dealer in particular (Bud's Gun Shop) will ship the pistol, but without the mags - No discounts, store credits, or substitutions. You pay for a pistol with its standard two (or sometimes even three) mags, and get a pistol shipped with ZERO mags, end of story. I'm not interested in loading up a 30 round broomstick mag into a pistol, but it would be really nice to be able to buy and use a "standard capacity" magazine. In criminal cases, a "high capacity" magazine will more than likely be one of the first charges to be plea-bargained away, but if this hi-cap mag is the only charge, then good luck with that one, and it carries a Draconian penalty (and not to mention losing your 2A rights completely for life).
Steve, I have an original Colt AR-15, now stored in Ohio, which was manufactured in 1963 (Serial Number is 534) which has been unchanged and unmodified. Can I now assume that I can bring it back into New Jersey and store it in my home?
Yes and no. I would hold off for now since there's a 30 stay on the decision pending appeal from both sides. When it's done (assuming no change on the Colt finding), you should be ok to do that.
how many Colt AR-15s are actually in circulation and common use? I mention this because they used the distinction in the ruling. This does not lift the ban on clones.
I thought this decision only applied to the Colt AR15 to be authorized for inside the home defense? Personally, I don’t understand why I would use a rifle within my home over a shotgun with buckshot.
It states Shall Not Be Infringed then why is it taking so long to overturn these clearly unconstitutional laws? They nit pick at it like chipping ice cubes out of a glacier. Could it be to keep lawyers on payroll and somehow the judges get compensated?
With that same logic then all of the A-typical AR15 style guns should fall under that ruling because they were classified as the same type / use/ style. Because there own statement says they are equal and are the same and should be exempt like the A-15.
Fortunately I live in a red state that has no state specific gun control laws. What concerns me here is the term "Colt" AR-15. I own three AR-15s, and none of them say "Colt" on them. One is a Smith&Wesson, one is an Olympic Arms, and one is a Harrington and Richardson. So, would all three of them still be banned in NJ because they don't say "Colt" on them?
NJ and most bad states it’s the 5 features test. Pistol grip, threaded muzzle, bayonet lug, collapsing stock or grenade launcher. You can only have 1 item
@@steamman9193in NY and Muzzle Brake/Flash Hider, and used to be 2 features, now ZERO since the SAFE Act. So people either got that silly, UNSAFE, stumpy pistol grip or “The Broom” Thordsen Stock, or simply epoxied the mag to make it a fixed mag rifle, which defeats the whole purpose. The State police refuse to give an answer as to whether the AR MR2 device, where you need to open the upper to remove the mag, is acceptable or not, but these rifles were not made to constantly open and close the upper at that frequency.
I feel it’s hardly a win considering everyone owns an AR-15 rifle in NJ may or may not be a colt. Could be a smith & Wesson or something but it doesn’t really open up too many new options. The magazine ban & all of the stupid stuff like no threaded barrels & no flash hiders & no adjustable stocks all of that matters more or else what is the point of “yeah you can have a colt ar-15.. not constitutional to ban. BUT the stock needs to be pinned and the stock birdcage needs to be removed and it can’t have a threaded barrel and the default 30 round magazine needs to be replaced with a 10 round one. After all that you really aren’t allowing people to own the colt ar-15 after removing all of its features.
Didn't the United States supreme court have a case in the past stating it's unconstitutional to ban a common firearm and with the AR-15 being one of the most popular guns in the United States i would assume protects it
This was a major loss. Unless you specifically wanted to buy a Colt AR15. Prior to the ruling NJ citizens could purchase other than a Colt AR15 but any other AR15 styled rifles as long as it does not have the evil features, ie no adjustable stock, no forward hand grip, no flash hiders, pinned muzzle brakes. After the ruling we still have the evil feature restriction…but you can buy a Colt AR15. My understanding at this time is the ruling specifically took the Colt AR15 off the unbanned list in NJ.
I haven't been in a New Jersey firearms store in maybe a year, but I thought that at that time there were AR 15 style rifles on display. Is my memory faulty or are there AR 15 style rifles that aren't currently banned? I thought the only banned rifles were those having a forward hand grip, flash arrestor, foldable stock, "too short" of a barrel length, ...
You're correct. It's the evil features that are the problem. However, the Colt is a named banned weapon. So it is banned outright. Other AR patterns are not. It's a fucking mess.
It's nice and all, but i'm more interested in the mag ban. When is that going to be addressed? There was a suit filed but it went no where then was told it's waiting tobe heard but they are sitting on it for now until they get a ruling. Then for at least a year i heard nothing.
The retention of the magazine 10 round restriction He got completely wrong He also referred to the assault weapon ban in relation to “colt AR-15” Error Then he retired based on what I heard Very far to go here 🤦♂️

BUT the stock needs to be pinned and the stock birdcage needs to be removed and it can’t have a threaded barrel and the default 30 round magazine needs to be replaced with a 10 round one. After all that you really aren’t allowing people to own the colt ar-15 after removing all of its features.
I don’t get it. I bought one three years ago. Just as long as it’s not called AR15. It was never really banned
You can have 1 feature
It's nice and all, but i'm more interested in the mag ban. When is that going to be addressed? There was a suit filed but it went no where then was told it's waiting tobe heard but they are sitting on it for now until they get a ruling. Then for at least a year i heard nothing.
NJ won’t change its ban . Many of California’s bans were overturned, yet they haven’t changed anything
Does this mean I can have an adjustable stock?
The retention of the magazine 10 round restriction
He got completely wrong
He also referred to the assault weapon ban in relation to “colt AR-15”
Error
Then he retired based on what I heard
Very far to go here 🤦♂️
We need a new governor
Small win. They are just dealing and delaying, hoping SCOTUS will change its membership.
We may be needing these guns very soon. Our government has become overly corrupt and we are fed up with the abuse.
Technically anything can be used as a weapon. so this keyboard im using is an assualt keyboard.
