Hands down, the best video on RUclips for this!! Too bad I found it AFTER I watched a dozen others and did my install. Everyone else was in a hurry or wasn’t thorough enough. Thank you.
I just got the full Precision LED kit installed on my 2016 4R, and I have to say I couldn't have done it without your terrific install video Phil. Just a world of difference with the increased lighting output as I live in a snow state. Terrific work! Just a couple of notes I'd like to mention from the install: 1) I had trouble removing the courtesy light fixture from the light housing (the part where you have to push on the tab). I found out that it was much easier to slide the plastic housing forward instead of simply trying to pry it apart with the pointed trim tool, and that came apart much easier than simply trying to pry them apart. And they slide back in easily with the lovely "click" sound. 2) One of the trunk light LEDs (as there are two on the 4R) is not as bright as the other. I will have to see if it was an error on my part on the installation or maybe one of the LED bulbs got damaged during the shipping. Either way, the lights are much brighter now when I'm loading the trunk with groceries after work in the evenings. Just can't rave enough about your product! 3) The plastic trim removal tools are AMAZING. I cannot give you guys enough props on that. I may have to purchase another set as the pointed tool got damaged quite a bit during the install, and I would like to have a backup one for future interior modifications. Just amazing and terrific tools from PrecisionLED! Thank you again!
Ken, thank you so much for your incredibly detailed review. Our team, and I'm sure other viewers, have found your tips very helpful, and really appreciate you taking the time to give feedback. Please let us know at if there is any way we can assist you! www.precisionled.com/contact.html
this is a great video, i bought LEDs off amazon and then found your video for instructions. wish i would have bought my bulbs off you just for the free tools. thanks for the info.
Thank you for the great demo! I'd only add 2 things: a) Use packing tape for the map lights and roll the tape into a tube to make removal easier. b) The door lights have little arrows that point to where to insert the tool. If you can spot them, it takes the guesswork out of the tool placement.
Legit easy to understand video. My only suggestion is when re-installing the mirror, leave the top part off and use the hole in the housing to connect the mirror heater first then snap the mirror in and install the top part. This removes the squeezing your fingers in behind the mirror. Thanks for the awesome product and video!
Great video! Lot's of detail on the removal & replacement of the lamp housings and covers. This made my LED conversion project quick and painless. Thank you!
Great video! Thank you. Just a quick point, on my 2024 Limited, the door lights on the passenger side have the clip toward the edge of the doors. The drive side is exactly as how you show it in your video. Cheers
Just finished installing your premium kit in my 2015 4Runner. The LED's were a great upgrade. Most notably, the puddle lights are actually usable now! Thanks for the excellent tutorial!
+Hampton Peace Hi Hampton, they're quite a bit brighter than stock. I was a bit surprised at first, but I like the extra light, especially with my all black interior. I can see how some folks might not care for that much light though. One thing that's vastly improved over stock are the sideview mirror puddle lights. They're actually usable now.
Great instructional video guys. A couple of points to maybe make it easier for the next guy. The clips to remove the mirror caps are the same color as the cap itself. So if you have a black cap it may be harder to see. Also, when you remove the piece around the mirror housing you don't have to remove the built in indicator signal. Last point: when doing the map lights, if you have big fat fingers like mine, be patient! The tape is a good idea. I ended up using duct tape to get mine out...
Awesome video and description! You guys make it look easy. I only had trouble removing my passenger trunk light. In the end all bulbs replaced with LED’s! Ordering headlights and dogs! Thanks for posting these videos! 2019 4Runner!
This is a great video and product. Just finished installation and I have two comments; 1) I used pieces of heat shrink over my needle nose pliers to remove map lights. Much easier that tape, 2) the courtesy door light assembly removal instruction is a bit unclear. Where the clip disengages depends upon driver side or passenger side thus be very careful not to force its removal. I used a bit too much and broke the lense clip. Otherwise super cool. Can' t wait until dark to see the difference.
Thank you for the positive feedback and also for the suggestions, we really appreciate it. We hope you enjoy them and thank you for choosing PrecisionLED!
I would love a video for the actual hard stuff! Front Signal Light and Fog Lights. Otherwise I agree, one of the best videos with good camera work and detailed explanation!
Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately, we do not carry most turn signal LEDs as they would hyper flash when ignited. Regarding the fogs, we are indeed working towards making videos for the fog installation. However, the fog installation is virtually identical to any headlamp installation. The main difference would be physically accessing your bulb. I would recommend having a watch at some of our headlight LED installation videos and you should gain a general knowledge about the installation process.
The upper center console around the map lights is designed to be pulled down to replace the bulbs from the top. The come out and go back in with a quick quarter turn. Mr. Toyota designed it this way.
When doing the puddle lights, I found it was easier to reconnect the mirror heater if you leave the back color keyed trim off until after mirror install. There’s a convenient space to then plug the heater cable into place. All you have to do then is snap the color keyed trim piece back on. Finished.
This video was very helpful, especially with the mirror puddle lamps. Even with this video, they were still horrible to change. One of the clips broke when removing the mirror.
Best video I seen, have a question but not sure if your model compared to a 2016 ltd is the same. Driver and passenger light under dash that is very dim but lights up where you feet go under the dash area, How do get access to it and type of bulb? Thanks
Love the lights and very helpful video on the installation of each light. I will say I don't know what kind of black magic voodoo tape you people have for removing the map lights but I had no success in just pulling those out in my 2017 4runner. I ended up removing the overhead console and switched out the lights that way, and only took about 5 minutes. They all look great!
If anyone is looking for how to replace the puddle lights like I was on a 2013 4runner, its about a 2 minute job vs the 2014+. Just remove the mirror glass like they show you in this vid and unscrew 2 Phillips screws right below the white disc that the mirror snaps onto... once the screws are out the lens can be pulled downward, then just twist the balast from the lens. replace bulb and put back together. your welcome.
For this installation video, we used the 6000K crystal white color. You can have a look at our color chart here: www.precisionled.com/color-temp-chart.png
Very thorough tutorial! Do all the bulbs dim as they turn off like stock? In particular the puddle and interior dome lights. Also do the brighter back up lights interfere or wash out the backup cam?
Thanks for this video. It was very helpful. I’m just not that confident in myself on changing the bulbs in the mirrors.🤣 I’d rather pay a professional to do that part. My luck, I would drop the mirrors and break the exteriors.
I think the guy in the video did a great job of explaining and has a real talent for making videos. However, I do agree with Chase K that it would be better without the music and allow us to concentrate more on what he is saying. Question: how many MM long is the Dome light bulb for a 2011 4Runner ?
thanx a lot the video was really helpful. and the bulbs gave the car amazing look :) also when i was buying leds i made a mistake and ordered 2 instead of 1 but they wrote me and asked me if i wanted 2 and returned me money :) thanx a lot once again ;)
Thank you for the great tutorial, so helpful for the un-informed. One question please? Are the led's on the dome and rear interior tail/dome lights the same bulb as all the rest? If not, and I suspect that is the case, what is the bulb name and number as I'll need to order them? Do they come in different watts/lumens and what is the recomended brightest light compatible with a 2016 4 Runner? Thanks so much.
Thank you for your interest. There is a variety of different LEDs installed throughout the 2016 4Runner. However, we do the research so you don't have to. All you would have to do is purchase the package in the description, and you will be shipped the compatible LEDs in labeled bags so you know where they go. Also, we sell 35 watt products, and the lumens do vary depending on how many LED boards on the LED. However, what you would really want to compare is our Standard vs Premium package. The difference is the new Premium 5730SMD LED bulbs are the next generation of new LEDs. Compared to the older 5050SMDs, these LEDs have 3 times the light output per LED. The 5730 LED chip is designed for maximum light output while the aluminum housing helps to dissipate heat effectively for the longevity of the bulb. The new 5730SMD LEDs have a Constant Current Circuit design which helps maintain brightness if the voltage fluctuates within the circuit and has voltage surge protection up to 18V. And of course, all of our interior 5730 LEDs are backed by our 1 year warranty. Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions!
Can the small light between the map lights be changed? I believe it's just a mood light that casts a little lighting on the center console and center stack.
Thank you for your interest. We do have listed the center light would be a stock LED. However, if that is not the case for your vehicle, please, email us over a photo of the halogen bulb, and we can recommend a compatible replacement. You can reach us a help@precisionled.com.
Yes, the LEDs will indeed increase your nighttime reverse visibility by 2-3 times. I would assume you would notice the difference in the backup camera.
Thank you for the request. We will keep an eye out for another 4Runner out here in Los Angeles to perform another installation video. Subscribe for updates!
If you'd like, feel free to send over a photo of the factory lights so we can see if we are able to make a suggestion. You can reach us at help@precisionled.com. We will try to get our hands on another 4runner for an updated installation video!
This kit link is no longer valid. The existing 4runner kit for 2009+ has the trunk lights listed as optional but no item selection. What is the product ID for the trunk lights? Same bulb as the dome but the only way they are identified in the Toyota manual is "8 watt double end".
You don’t have to remove the mirrors.. you just squeeze the corner inside piece in the front and pull it to the front! Waaaaay easier than removing the mirror
Thank you for the request. We will keep an eye out for another 4Runner out here in Los Angeles to perform another installation video. Subscribe for updates!
Thank you for your interest. Yes, the installation process is very similar, if not identical to as shown in the video. Also, there is a direct product link in the description of the video as well.
The new Premium 5730SMD LED bulbs are the next generation of new LEDs. Compared to the older 5050SMDs, these LEDs have 3 times the light output per LED. The 5730 LED chip is designed for maximum light output while the aluminum housing helps to dissipate heat effectively for the longevity of the bulb. Quick question for anyone who has done this install, how much brighter are the new bulbs than the halogen ones? LED's would be nice but these almost seem blindingly bright. Any feedback would be great!
+Hampton Peace The Standard LED Package is 2-3X brighter than your halogen bulbs. The Premium LED Package (used in the video) is 2-3X brighter than the Standard LED Package. I recommend the Standard LED Package for you, found here: www.precisionled.com/toyota-4runner-led-interior-lights-kits-2009-present.html
For the 2011 4runner you don't have to take off all that plastic for the side mirrors. All you have to do is remove the glass and unscrew two screws that hold the light. The light simply pops out. Here is a link to some pictures. www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/62252-interior-lighting-mod-4.html
Thank you for the interest. We will keep an eye out for a Ford C-Max out here in Los Angeles, California for an installation video. Also, because your vehicle is so rare, we do not have the required headlight listed in our database. If you could provide us with the bulb type, we should be able to recommend a compatible headlight kit.
+PrecisionLED H11LL It's pretty buried, the headlamp assembly must be removed. I don't even know if there'd be room for the heat sync. Maybe you can find a friendly dealer to let you take a look? Thank you so much!
Thank you for your interest. We do have listed the center light would be a stock LED. However, if that is not the case for your vehicle, please, email us over a photo of the halogen bulb, and we can recommend a compatible replacement. You can reach us at help@precisionled.com.
@@TheMikeg27 For this installation video, we used premium LEDs in the 6000K crystal white color. You can have a look at our color chart here: www.precisionled.com/color-temp-chart.png Thanks for watching!
Does someone make an entire kit for a 2016 trd pro 4Runner for all these lights ? Getting my headlights installed tomoro and want a full upgrade . Thanks
Yes, the LED kit linked in the description gives you the option to add all of the lights shown in the installation video via the dropdown manus on the package.
Hi so when I started to install the led dome lights I was having and issue with it.. The light was working and couldn't lock it in.. Now none of the lights work after just running .. I'm looking for a fuse blown but not having any luck with a good description of which fuse it would be..
We have never heard of an issue like this before. Especially with the 4Runner 2014+, as they are one of the most popular vehicle's we cater to. I would think it was a fuse issue. However, if you are having trouble locating the correct fuse, please send us an email at help@precisionled.com and we would be glad to assist you.
Thank you for your interest. The outside puddle light would use the T10 fitment, which you can find here: www.precisionled.com/premium-t10-canbus-6smd-5730-led.html Be sure to adjust the quantity accordingly (2).
PrecisionLED thanks for the response. Just noticed my 4runner doesn't even have the puddles lights haha bought it yesterday. Ordering a set of your lights now
Anyone find the dome light doesnt sit properly ? I can fit it in and it'll turn on but the bulb itself doesnt look straight. It fits in a bit of a slant
If you'd like, feel free to send over a photo of the factory lights so we can see if we are able to make a suggestion. You can reach us at help@precisionled.com.
@@PrecisionLED thx..but I discovered the glove box light in not changeable. It is complete inclosed unit that would need to be replaced not simply a bulb. At least it is on a 2014 trail edition,.
If you'd like, feel free to send over a photo of the factory lights so we can see if we are able to make a suggestion. You can reach us at help@precisionled.com.
@@DarrickBLee Thanks for clarifying! We have listed that the 5th generation T4R's glove box light is a factory LED, which you cannot replace as it is soldered to a chip and board.
Dude!! I have been dealing for 2 days with the mapping light.!! You save my life with the tape recomendation!!! Thanks a lot!!!

You don’t have to remove the mirrors.. you just squeeze the corner inside piece in the front and pull it to the front! Waaaaay easier than removing the mirror
Thanks for the input!
Excellent video
We are glad to be of assistance!
The 2013 4runner puddle lights was easier to replace, I only removed the mirror and couple screws.
Good to know!
please do the head, tails, and DRLs for the 2013 and below please?
Thank you for the request. We will keep an eye out for another 4Runner out here in Los Angeles to perform another installation video. Subscribe for updates!
Very good!!! Do you have a video on a Nissan Xterra 2012 Pro4x ?
+Johan Soto Unfortunately, we do not. We have one on the 1st Gen Xterra ruclips.net/video/8wSHKr8Y1HE/видео.html
I'd assume that this would work with a 2018 TRD Off Road? Am looking to purchase your premium package. Thanks!
Thank you for your interest. Yes, the installation process is very similar, if not identical to as shown in the video. Also, there is a direct product link in the description of the video as well.
What about the glove box light
Ikr. I've been trying to figure that out myself. Any information on changing the glove box light would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The glove box light is most likely a stock LED which cannot be replaced as it is soldered to a chip and board.
What's the difference between the premium and non-premium package, aside from the price?
The new Premium 5730SMD LED bulbs are the next generation of new LEDs. Compared to the older 5050SMDs, these LEDs have 3 times the light output per LED. The 5730 LED chip is designed for maximum light output while the aluminum housing helps to dissipate heat effectively for the longevity of the bulb. The new 5730SMD LEDs have a Constant Current Circuit design which helps maintain brightness if the voltage fluctuates within the circuit and has voltage surge protection up to 18V. And of course, all of our interior 5730 LEDs are backed by our lifetime warranty.
Thank you for the tip!
what color are these in the install?
Please show a Ford Cmax or let me know what video to watch. Do you offer an HID kit for the Cmax headlights?
Thank you for the interest. We will keep an eye out for a Ford C-Max out here in Los Angeles, California for an installation video. Also, because your vehicle is so rare, we do not have the required headlight listed in our database. If you could provide us with the bulb type, we should be able to recommend a compatible headlight kit.
+PrecisionLED H11LL It's pretty buried, the headlamp assembly must be removed. I don't even know if there'd be room for the heat sync. Maybe you can find a friendly dealer to let you take a look? Thank you so much!
Thanks for the info. We will definitely try to get our hands on one as soon as possible, as we would like to investigate what you are referencing.
+PrecisionLED Thank you so much
Hi would this package fit my 2021 Toyota 4Runner?thank you
Yes! The kit linked in the description box is compatible with your 2021 Toyota 4Runner.
about the glove box?
Gotta ask since its not covered......what is the light in btween the map lights and how does that get changed? Thank you.
Thank you for your interest. We do have listed the center light would be a stock LED. However, if that is not the case for your vehicle, please, email us over a photo of the halogen bulb, and we can recommend a compatible replacement. You can reach us at help@precisionled.com.
2020+ 4runners use 28/29mm length for the dome NOT A 31mm.
How do I do the glove box light?
Are you using the 6000k or 8000k lights in the video?
Also, are they the premium or standard?
@@TheMikeg27 For this installation video, we used premium LEDs in the 6000K crystal white color. You can have a look at our color chart here: www.precisionled.com/color-temp-chart.png
Thanks for watching!
Hi I had a 2019 Toyota Tundra and I had LED in the truck would they fit this new Toyota 4Runner 2021?
Hi! There are twice as many bulbs in the 4Runner kit and only some of them will work from the Tundra.
@@PrecisionLED thank you
Do you have a video in the 2011 4R limited or it is the same?
Yes, it would be the same installation process!
Who are the 13 people who didn't like this video and why.....?
Thanks for your support!
2015 models work the same?
+Bob Hardgrave Yep!
Is this 6k or 8k conversion?
+Thomas Brockmeyer 6000K
Hi is there anyway you can a shortage?
Hi! Not sure what your question is, but if you need help please feel free to reach out to our support team directly at help@precisionled.com!
Make sure it's installed properly, all metal is contacting.
Trying to find the puddle light on the website but I can't find the led? Is it part of the interior base package?
Thank you for your interest. The outside puddle light would use the T10 fitment, which you can find here: www.precisionled.com/premium-t10-canbus-6smd-5730-led.html
Be sure to adjust the quantity accordingly (2).
Did you order your kit from us? If so, please reach out at help@precisionled.com and we can help resolve this situation!
How do I change the glove box light?
If you'd like, feel free to send over a photo of the factory lights so we can see if we are able to make a suggestion. You can reach us at help@precisionled.com.
@@PrecisionLED thx..but I discovered the glove box light in not changeable. It is complete inclosed unit that would need to be replaced not simply a bulb. At least it is on a 2014 trail edition,.
Was this 6000K or 8000K????
Thank you for your interest. We do have listed the 8000K color was installed on this vehicle.
Would be great if you showed the finished project at night.
Thank you for the feedback. We will keep this in mind for future installation videos.
How about glove box light?
If you'd like, feel free to send over a photo of the factory lights so we can see if we are able to make a suggestion. You can reach us at help@precisionled.com.
@@PrecisionLED That was nine months ago. To clarify, I'm just asking how to install the LED inside the glove box. Any tips on how to do it easily?
@@DarrickBLee Thanks for clarifying! We have listed that the 5th generation T4R's glove box light is a factory LED, which you cannot replace as it is soldered to a chip and board.
