Excellent video. So helpful. I could not figure out how to pull the old map light bulbs out until I watched your video. I ended up using a small piece of duct tape as it was stickier. I just replaced all my interior bulbs on my 2016 4Runner after watching this video and it was so easy following your demonstration. The hardest part for this 67 year old woman was getting down on the ground and back up after replacing the door bulbs! 🙂
You're a great teacher!! You saved me lots of headaches this morning on my 2023 Limited 😁! Yes, they still have all incandescent bulbs 🙄, except for the glove box, foot wells and door handles. I did have to resort to using pliers on the map light bulbs though, my sausage fingers could not get the tape deep enough around the bulbs. All came out great though! Thank you! 👍👍
I just put 5K VLEDs in my '21 4Runner. Your instructions are spot on. FYI, the same LED is used for the map lights, vanity lights, and door lights. Another LED is used for the dome light and the rear hatch lights. I had a hard time getting the dome light to seat properly and accidently separated the dome light receptacle from the grey frame. Finally got it working but I'm still wish the led module fit more secure in the holes.
I did mine a couple months back. I wish I would have stumbled on this video then. I got it done with no issues but this is a very good video, and explained VERY WELL, and in detail.
If you pop out the multi terrain selection area there are two screws that will let you remove the entire control panel from the ceiling. Then you have very easy access to the back of the bulbs and they just twist right out.
Another awesome 4Runner vid! You give me a lot of confidence to pick and do mods the right way. Thanks for providing product links and doing an excellent instructional video!
This video was a blessing for me! I would like to one point. When prying on the covers for the door lights look for the arrow on the cover. The arrow points to the clip.
Thanks so much! I actually recorded the whole video and then had to rerecord the video due to a technical issue. I think that helped me make it better 😂
Well done video. I used the universal tool to take out map lights, duct tape. I had trouble with putting in the dome light bulb , the metal tips kept slipping on the contacts. I used a small needle nose pliers with a gentle touch and it went straight on!
Thanks for the tape tip! I used packing tape and it worked great! I had seen others use painters tape or needle nose but neither of those were working for me.
Just installed this kit today. Seem to be really good quality leds. One snag I had was one of the metal clips on the hatch lights popped off and fell inside. Had to pull the whole cover loose to retrieve it.
Great video! Pro tip, on the door light lens, there's a small arrow on one side, that's the side with the clip. It makes it very easy to pop the assembly out. Keep up the great videos!
Not sure if this applies to all models. However on the door lights, if you look really closely at the cover, you might see a small triangle arrow pointing to which side to place the pry bar. Hope this helps someone.
Thanks, this is the best tutorial I found on how to change the original bulbs to LED. The tips on how to disassemble the door lights was great, I couldn’t figure it out on my own and didn’t want to break them. Question though, how snuggly were your bulbs fitting, especially the map lights? Mine worked, but were kinda loose. I couldn’t get them to push in and get that snug tight fit.
Great video, everything went smooth except the driver side map light. I got the halogen bulb out, but when trying to plug in the LED, the socket (aka female end) retreated into the panel! It is now loose and jiggling around up there. Are there any videos on how to remove that whole panel? Thanks!
@T4R Garage ... Another great video, thanks for sharing the knowledge. How well do the liftgate lights illuminate into the cargo area with these VLEDS? I can never seem to get enough light in there (after 3 different brand of LED upgrades) when the liftgate is open. Still searching for some very strong LED's to install.
The location of the lights, by design, isn’t the greatest. They illuminate more outside of the cargo area than inside. Toyota really should have added another dome light for the cargo area. These LEDs are much brighter than stock though and do help quite a bit
Great guide. I bought the bulbs in your link - but the map lights buzz every time they turn off in my 23 limited. Annoying af - maybe the bulbs aren’t good quality?
FYI they said this is a known issue with lights that dim on the 4Runner. There isn’t a fix, so they offered to let me return them. Kinda disappointing, but will try out another brand.
@@jic022 I haven’t noticed this with mine for some reason. I wonder if they changed the design. Let me know how the other brand works out for you. Sorry to hear you had that issue
Wonder is you could put some foil on the inside of the door ones to reflect the light from the leds that are hidden to get a little more light out of it?
The map light procedure in incorrect. The whole housing is designed to be pulled down, and the bulbs removed and installed from the top, with the fingers. Very easy.
This is the best explanation on RUclips. Just installed mine, thanks!
Thank you!

Great instruction video. I had a kit but was worried about how to open all the covers safely. This video was a huge help. Thanks.
Just got my 2024 TRD PRO ICE CAP 4RUNNER and going to the garage now to change out my LED BULBS!! Awesome video!!! Thank you

Just bought lights and found this video! Install tomorrow, thanks.
This is The BEST 4Runner Interior LED Install Guide , Thanks!

Definitely appreciate this video. This was a lot less frustrating to install with your help.

This was very helpful. Especially the map lights. Suckers were in there tight as heck. Much appreciated!
GREAT video. You helped me knock this out in 35 minutes from start to finish! THANK YOU
Happy you found it useful, thanks!
I cheaped out before seeing this video. Installed all the lights, we'll see how long they last.

Yeah mine are running strong after over a year. Glad you were able to retrieve the clip, gotta hate it when a 10min job turns into a 30 min job

great tutorial man...thorough enough to keep me from breaking things in the process, and helpful in identifying which bulb goes where.
Nice video, very helpful. I used a small pair of hemostats to grab the map light bulb close to the base and pull out...was the hardest of them all.
Not sure if this applies to all models. However on the door lights, if you look really closely at the cover, you might see a small triangle arrow pointing to which side to place the pry bar. Hope this helps someone.
Just got a 4th Gen. Thanks for the vids! oops meant to say 5th Gen.
Great video.....my install went exactly as the information shared. Thanks!
Exactly what I needed. Thanks

What brand bulbs did you buy? Most of mine felt snug, haven’t had any issues
Great video, appreciate it.... I was looking for a dyi to change out the interior lights on my 2017 4runner.

Thank you for the best videos to upgrade 4Runner.
Do you mind making a video for replacement of glovebox lightbulb.

Warm lights interior, bright lights exterior

Hmm that’s strange, try contacting VLEDS. VLEDS has really good customer service

These still going strong before I purchase?

Hi great video. We would like to send a sample (Total new tesla style head unit) for 4runner for your review, but don't know how to contact you.
How have these held up??
No issues so far 👍🏼
Nice
can't purchase without buy the whole set

And how is that completed?
What about the puddle lights?
Search for upgrading the mirror turn signals... you have to disassemble the whole mirror assembly to do those. 🙄😬😒
@@frankmartin1325 thank you. I found the tutorial and successfully changed mine. Thanks again for your video
$120.....Holy $hit!
