    For anyone seeing this past Affinity 2.0. The option to rotate the viewport must be first enabled in Settings → Tools → "Enable canvas rotation with Alt + scroll wheel"

    My most used zoom is pressing Z for the tool, then holding alt and drawing a box where I want to zoom. It's very fast since I already have my left hand on the kb. Also when using a tablet I dont have a mouse wheel on the ready.

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  3 года назад

      that's great too, but you need to switch to the zoom tool for that. My method works with every tool :)

    • @JanneRanta
      @JanneRanta 3 года назад

      @@OlivioSarikas True but it's not that much of hassle since you just hit the Z key again and it'll go back to what tool you used previously.

    I reassigned my shortcut keys and use \ for whole picture view - just mouse wheel rotate to zoom - just Z to undo - just A to redo... Pretty much all the regular short cuts for me with the minimum of finger moving.... Might put brush size as S and D also...

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  3 года назад

      do you never hit Z by accident? What if your type z while writing?

    • @roodfooddoods
      @roodfooddoods 3 года назад

      @@OlivioSarikas as a digital artist I use UNDO / REDO the most so is much more convenient - with writing I never make mistooks hahahahah... no I just leave the text area to do the UNDO yes its a bit of a pain but hardly ever write...

    Just in case anyone else is having problems rotating their canvas on a PC try this: From Edit>Preferences (Tools option), check or uncheck Enable canvas rotation with +scroll wheel

    Trying to free rotate using a Wacom tablet, so, no mouse. I accidentally did it once veyr quickly, so I know it is possible. But I can't seem to replicate this. Just to note that how to do these things is different with a pen than a mouse.

    When I press Alt + rotate and the mousewheel or Ctrl+Alt+MouseWheel the document scrolls down and up, do you know why that is?

      go to "preferences -> tools" and make the checkmark there for canvas rotation :)

    Those are great shortcuts, but for what reason would someone rotate the canvas? Asking for a friend...

      Digital artists frequently need to rotate the canvas while drawing and painting.

    Unfrotunately this is no help if you're using an Apple mouse with no wheel.
