I'm one of those people who need to see everything step by step so Thank You for this demo!... But I think a windscreen will cut down boiling time. My next stove 👍
Ewife Journals thanks for watching. I haven't posted on this channel for a long time until yesterday but gonna try to do more videos like this. Since this video I've been using a wind screen.
Could be nice to see a long term review showing Alocs state, seems like Trangia have a serious corrosion problem and i am thinking if Alocs have same issue.
I love alcohol stoves. Your stove came with a pot stand but you really need to make a wind screen. You can make a cheap one with just tin foil taped to cardboard. Put some holes near the bottom. Have it cover at least 1\2 way up your pot. (Air should flow smoothly in the bottom and around you pot and out). Even in freezing temps you should be able to cut that time in half. An alcohol stove is a system of stove+fuel+pot+wind screen. Overall you have a good setup with good fuel, good stove\stand and wider pot, but your losing most of your heat to the environment. Enjoyed the video!
I got the 40 oz klean canteen single walled steel bottle, my gsr nesting cup, and a pathfinder nesting pot stand. I intended on making a wind screen with some aluminum foil but I figured I wanted to try it without this first time. I have tested it with boiling 40 oz in the canteen too but not yet with the nesting pot stand or with a wind screen. I was going to make a new video once I test it all and settle on a system. Thanks for the advice and watching! I want to keep up doing stuff like this, but my other channel USDashCamera often eats up my time.
Good philosophy of use for this stove. This is good if you leave in the car in hot temperatures. You can grab yellow bottles of HEET gasoline deicer and they are conveniently sized portable bottles. You can find cheaper denatured alcohol by the gallon at Home Depot. Burning Alcohol IS hard to see in daylight ! It's hard to light when it's cold. I highly recommend cocooning this setup in some kind of windscreen to add efficiency to this setup. If you want a complete system get this... Trekmate Lightweight Anodized Aluminum Camping Alcohol Cook Set With Carry Strap www.amazon.com/dp/B01F7JK4UY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_SqcXyb6ND2CXV Pocket rocket type stoves are no good for this philosophy of use because the fuel cans are hazardous to keep in a hot car.
Thanks for the advice, I plan on making a wind screen with aluminum foil, I also got a 40oz steel bottle, with a nesting burner "platform" www.selfrelianceoutfitters.com/collections/stainless-steel-containers/products/stainless-steel-bottle-stove?variant=24814994369 which was more then i wanted to spend but it looked perfect. That cook set looks like a great option, currently I dunno if i want to add anything that complex though. With my GSR nesting cup, and the 40 oz bottle I feel like I could boil water or cook small things easily for 1-2 people and I am thinking I want to be as minimal as possible. I want this in my bug out bag, but I live where there are cold below 0 Fahrenheit winters so a lot of bag space goes to cold temperature gear.

It takes a couple of burns to get it to start to burn hot.
🤣 sounds about right!

I completely concur with the prior two sentiments: nice video and a windscreen will cut down boil time in half
thanks, I was planning on making a wind screen with aluminum foil, or buying a new windscreen for my MSR dragonfly and using that old one for this.

Long story short. 30 minutes.
