Love this episode, I think Cherub is my least favourite in the whole show so far (even though it still makes me laugh like crazy, I just think it's weak, structurally) but this one marks a tonal shift into something with more depth and continuity. Also, Norman Reedus did a great job as Striker - but moving forward he did have to give the role up I'm guessing due to scheduling. I'm apparently in the minority that I prefer his new VA but I think they both did great!
If you're excited about norman reedus...wait until episode 8! Episode 7 is not the finale, but due to some legal issues, episode 8 was delayed until after several episodes of season 2, but everything is perfectly fine, everything is cleared up, no need to worry about anything with 1x8! Can't wait to see your reaction to that one!
This episode really felt to me like the point the show found its feet. The contrast on the heels of C.H.E.R.U.B.s makes the quality shift even more stark. I love this episode for how much it manages to pack in, there's lore, character development, and a whole lot of great animation. Striker is so well framed, they did a perfect job of making him actually a Threat (tm) and a genuinely dangerous antagonist. The team didn't win, he just took an easy exit, they barely did damage to the guy. The sound design in the episode is fantastic too, as always. It feels like the sound effects when characters move could be silly or jarring, but it's so well thought out, it just enhances the scenes.
