Although I don't know how much power is needed for Angela's soap shack, I could see using the old system to have it running off-grid. I'm thinking you could build a large enough addition on one side of the soap shack to keep the old system self-contained and not take up any room inside the soap shack itself.

Sam you might want to try attaching the air filter with Velcro so it can be changed out more easily if the hot glue doesn’t peel of the Blueti easily.

Good eye Steve!! It's advertised as a fiber laser, but I don't know that it really is. Probably more of a galvo and IR laser unit. It's the ATOMSTACK M4. Now, that being said, I've been enjoying testing it out and learning the ins/outs of it. There will be some videos coming up on it soon, too. I just like to learn and use machines a while before videoing. :)
Off Grid Homesteading has the Bluetti and swears by it. Has anyone every told you, you could be a salesman, or a really good teacher? Keep it up.
I consider BLUETTI the top tier brand for power stations. Our smaller AC200P has been through a hard life the last year but has never missed a beat. This AC500 unit is the same way -- we've had it for several months now with no issues in quality, performance, and reliability. Everything is as-advertised with them.
Appreciate your time and efforts to give us good information and ideas for using the Bluetti.

Thanks for sharing your shop power upgrade. I was glad to see that the Bluetti has the more modern Lithium Iron Phosphate, since it is more eco-friendly than just Lithium alone. Alas, I am now retired on Social Security, earning less than 1 K $ / month in [2022], but it is good to know the options out there for standby power, even in a OG&E Power outage. Peace, Long Life, & Health to you & your family.

I hope you read up on the 2 pole 50 Amp plug, you will need two AC500 units in order to pull 50amps out of the system, it is the only drawback on the Bluetti

Love the details clear explanation as usual!! Love the power station! I have Goal zero had now for several years and an Ecoflow, love them for emergencies and during canning season I need my extra fridge/freezer space for project over flow😊. I love this system!!

What A Nice System!!
Cool setup. FYI - A main lug load center has lugs (Those connections at the top of the bus bars.) for the main feed wires to directly energize the bus bars with no main breaker or disconnect. In a main breaker load center the main feed connects to a breaker. That breaker will connect/disconnect power to the bus bars without taking up breaker spaces. You just bypassed the lugs by wiring in your own main breaker. Still works as a disconnect, you just have a few less breaker spaces available.
Yep. This is a combo box designed for either way. I don't mind loosing a few spaces for a smaller load center and much cheaper price.

OK. break the corners on the shelf so as not to take it to the face. Maybe think about a strap to not catch it and knock it off the shelf if that is a possibility. The underneath of that shelf looks like a good place for some small storage to make the best of all your wall space.

Great job on the video my man!.... Not too sure if you mentioned it or not, but you can even connect a direct connection to the battery from solar using up to 500 watts to the battery alone with ALSO using the maximum 3000 watts to the inverter itself. This way, you can use JUST the battery if you only need a 12 volt supply. These things are SOOOO FREAKING AWESOME!!!.... You can also attach up to 6 of those batteries making it 18,432 watt-hours!!!! .... Again, These things are AWESOME!!!!!

I ordered the AC500 combo last night. I started to go with something like the 200Max, but it looks like the AC500 is built for REAL offgrid use, not just for emergency power. I'll have to add more batteries over time, but it's great to have the expandability toward a whole home solution. One reviewer pointed out that the AC500 could actually compete with the Tesla Powerwall, in price and power. Tesla won't sell you a Powerwall for DIY; only they can install it, while with Bluetti it's ALL DIY.
Viewers should know that if you try to save some money by buying the older generation B300 batteries, you'll need a $100 adapter cable, plus you will be limited to 4 batteries, (you can add 6 if you use the B300S). I almost made that mistake.
Btw, I would have liked to have seen details how you wired the 50 amp receptacle.
You did a nice job of explaining what you doing. Thank you. I have a suggestion for for your air filters. If you hot glue Velcro to the Blue yeti and to air filters you can replace or clean them.

And very expensive up front. Being on the grid is not a problem for me and I have a fair amount of power tools. In most shops like mine and yours, not much power is used compared to a production shop. I am sure you know what you want and what you need for the shop. I think I will stick to the power coming from underground to my shop. Hopefully you will also hook up the the grid later as cloudy days and night just don't cut it with Blue.
We just had 5 days of rainy weather. My solar barely produced but I have grid passthrough on my solar inverter that lets grid power in when batteries are low.

Great video, I just figure how to power my detached garage, now I can really turn it into a workshop. Hope your heel is feeling better, it will take time. I guess you didn't want to use your wireless chargers. If I had it that high and put my phone on the wireless charger, I would never find my phone again, I be looking for it forever.
The air filter on each side is an excellent idea. You would think these power station manufacturers would include washable slide-in style filters. But, then again, PC manufacturers didn't do it either.
Good idea to put filters on the intake. I have my AC300 in the shop to keep warm in the winter powering the house. Was thinking of putting filters on it somehow, now I have an idea, and use Velcro as commented. Thanks

Sad to say that the AC500 won't work without an external battery.
That AC500 looks pretty big and cumbersome and it would be better suited as a home back up power source.

you should get another battery pack. that should run every thing in the shop
I would plug your lights in direct to the unit and not your power panel..this should help with the flickering
Finally got a chance to watch this and the biggest question I would have is, how much did everything cost? solar panels and all. Maybe our electricity is really cheap where I am in PA but solar is not even close to being competitive for us! I would love to have a solar setup for the garage to run a heater in the winter and not run the electric up but the upfront cost is a killer.....unless you say it was only like $3000 for everything then it may be worthwhile!!! Just for comparison our electric is .068 and distribution is .028 per kwh. I really would love to have solar to be greener and be able to do crazy things like heat the pool, garage, etc and not have to worry about a $500 a month bill but I need to hear an upfront cost now to see if it would be any cheaper than just running all that stuff through my main electric.
Nice video. Hope this all works for you. I have a couple of questions. As the specs were rolling on the screen for the Bluetti, I thought I saw where it said that input was limited to 500w, and you said your solar array was 700+ watts. In terms of runtime, how does the capacity of the old batteries to the new one compare. How long of battery power did you have on the Bluetti compare to the old batteries.
Nice informative video and pretty impressive unit. Not knowing much about solar and battery backups etc. do the benefits gained from this Bluetti setup warrant the associated cost which if I read correctly in the link you provided was approximately $5,000 on a Black Friday special as compared to your previous setup? I would be interested in adding something like this with a few solar panels instead of a standby back up generator. Just not sure how they would compare . Hope your feeling better!

Way better than the typical "ohh, can this 2000watt unit handle [anything you can plug into a 15amp plug]" type video. Does the app or the display show an esitmated run time based on current load? That is one feature I like on my Delta MAX. Hope your feet are feeling better!

The unit has a 10,000 watt peak rating, so it should handle it fine for a short time as the other tool or this one settles. It's so rare for me to ever have more than one "large" tool running at the same time.
Do you plan to sell the old hardware? I would be interested in bringing it to South Carolina.
Are you getting 120 volts on both lines going into the breaker from the Bluetti?
It's curious that the incoming power went to zero as soon as the power draw jumped into the 700s.
Looks like a nice setup. I've wrestled 3kVA APC units before and those things weighed a "ton" w/o the battery packs. That 5000 is either more efficient or you're stronger than you look to lift it over your head. 💪
Is the battery rating true capacity or fully drained? Most batteries don't like being pulled down to "zero" as it damages them. 80% of the sticker's capacity rating (at best) has been the rule of thumb most of my life. It would be nice if the company is grossing-up the battery to have a true 3000WHr capacity.
One question. Does putting the filter on put a strain on the system?

Sam great video well done and i liked how you explained everything. I have question. I have a similar workshop 12x16 with the same type of tool configuration including a Delta table saw, drill press, belt sander band saw and about to add a CNC with a Laser Beam. I imagine the Bluetti can support those items. One thing i need this time of year is a heater in my unheated shed. These heaters seem to take the electric down all the time. I am running currently through a heavy duty extension cord from my house. Even without turning the saw on the heater typically overloads the circuit. You, think the Bluetti can support your shop if you also added an electric heater? Thanks
The inverter of this unit putting out 5,000 watts is plenty to run a 1,500 heater, but battery capacity would be the kicker for it. I'm going to add a wall mounted propane heater to my shop for the time being.
Does BlUETTI give you any idea how long the battery life is?
I feel you've mentioned this before, but can't remember. What are the specs on the panels you're using? I'm thinking about adding a few panels to the roof and a system like this to run at home 'data center', and quite possibly run my big Co2 laser setup (100w laser, commercial chiller for it, small compressor and an exhaust fan). While I've got a good bit of room up there for panels, I'm going to maximize the non-shaded areas by (hopefully) putting in some larger wattage output panels.. I'd likely also use this setup as a 'backup' for outages on a few things.. Without a major expenditure on tree removal, I'd likely have good solar coverage for around 8-10 hrs most days (for example, in summer they'd be in full sunlight from around 10am to at least 7pm, if I remove a couple smaller trees, till sundown).
My panels are used "off lease" panels I got from Langston's Alternative Power for a fraction of the price of new panels. They're stickered at 270w each, but pump out about 250w in perfect conditions. Considering the price I paid, I've never regretted the purchase. I have 20 of them in total, but only use 8 right now. I really want to put the other into use somehow on our land soon! Spencer is a great guy and worth inquiring with if you're looking into things. He owns Langston's. Here's a link to his website: www.langstonsalternativepower.com/
would it not be an idea to make an enclosed cupboard around the power boxes and vent it to the outside, then you'll not have to worry about dust and have cooler fresh air from outside, also would the glued-on filters not restrict airflow to the fams, especially when covered in dustl
Is your workshop heated? These don't like to work/charged below freezing temps if the solar is permanently connected. If you heat the workshop while you are in it, it would take some time for the unit to warm up (internal batteries) from freezing (or lower) before they should be used. This isn't an issue with the lead acid batteries you were originally using. Also, in the summer, these won't take well to temps above 100 F if the shed heats up a lot.
in hindsight it mightve been better to set the batterypack on top of the controller unit , that way youre able to operate the ting a little eazier

as for (most) of the old system , maibe make it a backup sytem for the home , keeping it charged through the net and kicking in when theres a blackout , basicly keeps youre "server" router some emergency lights and fridge running
It would crush the DC wireless charging pads on the top of the inverter to swap them. I can easily reach, read, and use the display when needed, but It's not something I'm looking at much. The old system is in another shed on our property and will be setup for use in there soon I hope.
Ok, I am a novice when it comes to solar BUT it seems like adding up the cost of the solar array and all the associated equipment and electronics I could pay for a lot of electricity. Other than not being concerned about a power outage what is the benefit? Where are the real savings? Thanks.

They're large, but could be roof mounted with the right hardware. However, I'm able to clean them and inspect them much easier on the ground and keep power generation at it's best. These are used "off lease" panels but were a great deal and have worked great for me. I'm very happy with them! Bought them from Spencer at www.langstonsalternativepower.com/
This may demonstrate my ignorance....but how did you wire up that subpanel when your Bluetti exclusively puts out 120v? Don't you need a 240v feeder?
Why not buy 16 280Ah LiFeP04 cells for $2000? Gives you 14kwh so it blows the Bluetti out of the water if your current inverter has enough power output
Just watched your video. Nice job. I do have a question. The large outlet, you have plugged into. Only one leg is hot. Are both sides of that breaker panel hot ? If so how ?

I didn't want to show that part as it's not exactly a recommended method, but I connected the L1 and L2 wires to each other on the plug end where it connects into the BLUETTI.
