We need more rides of this level. Though SFA might need a new extreme ride, I wouldn't mind if this were retracked with Titan track without changing the layout at all. (I know it was retracked with wood track recently.)
So much nostalgia because of Roar at Discovery Kingdom. I still remember the exact locations of turns because of the other parts of the park I could see from them. I wish the Discovery Kingdom one was simply retracted instead of converted.
I missed this back in 2017 when I visited the park for the first time, I missed this and Superman (both down due to technical issues). A return visit is required.
@@RapidZCoasters you can see where it was retracked on the video. Certainly ir wasnt all the problem spots I recall on this thing. Although the camera isvstabilized, you can still the train bouncing between the siderails. It will be intersting to see how much better than it was last year, considering it was pretty much unrideable last year.
Honestly, since they transformed this ride's twin across the country... RMC should totally redo this ride too. Six Flags should pay for it. RMC has done a lot of rides since ROAR/Joker at SFDK, and would be able to do even crazier things with this clone, now. They'd give SFA a TRUE destination ride (Superman is fantastic, but an RMC would really seal the deal!)
I might need to go over there and ride it now that it is more smooth. I keep hearing that it should get the RMC treatment, but perhaps it should be kept as is since RMC already reworked it's West Coast counterpart.
@@Derangedlefty I have to disagree. Millennium Flyers are known to make wooden coasters smoother. Sure, some situations might make the ride even rougher, but hey 9/10 the ride gets better.
I’m planning on visiting the Washington DC/Baltimore area later this summer, and I might just visit Six Flags America during my trip (along with Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg) and might just give this coaster a ride. I say later this summer (Mid-to-late August) because before then I plan to take a trip to Philadelphia and visit Dorney Park and Hershey Park.
@@aidan1625 I thought more weight makes it crawl? Remember psyclone and magic mountain, how the heavy b&m trains made it crawl through the layout. And I hope roar gets RMC'd, Alan Schilke can probably make it different than joker
@@RapidZCoasters I think it just has to be the right weight. If it's too heavy it crawls, but if it's too light like the millennium flyers, it would also crawl. There has to be a balance which is what the ptc trains give it.
I see the section they retracked was the worst spot on the ride last year I rode it. I’m hoping to see if this will actually redeem itself this year. And I’m going front row this time. Not like there’s any other good row on it.
Spotted you at BGW today by tempesto! Holy crap was it crowded. Also, kinda sad they retracked some of Roar, makes me realize it’s going to stay the same for a couple more seasons.
Is this actually a very similar (or maybe exact?) layout as the old Roar at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom? It looks like it has pretty similar layout to the current Joker at SFDK, just without the inversions.
@@CoasterStudios why they didn't finish is beyond me. The last time I was at Six Flags America, I remember getting jackhammered by this ride. Either completely retrack it, Titan Track it, or RMC it in my opinion
Millennium Flyers and Titan track or just RMC it!!! This park has to make a decision to compete or get out of game. I gave up my season pass because BGW and Hershey Park are putting forth a better effort. It’s a shame because the DMV has a huge population!!!
Definitely one of the weaker GCIs but still highly overhated by enthusiasts. I don't care about rough rides so I really enjoyed this! But comparing it to other GCIs like Gold Striker, Thunderhead, or even Apocalypse it just isn't as good unfortunately. I can see why SFDK RMCd their version.
One day we’ll stop wasting time, money and resources and quit retracking wooden coasters with wood only to have them go to s*** a few years later. Save for a few classics, RMC and Titan track everything I say.
POVS just keeps getting better! remember when you used to have bad quality pov, now you have one of the best povs in the coaster community!
false
RMC would have a field day with this one. I just hope they wouldn't name it something weird like Iron Roar
It'd just become Joker, like it's west coaster counterpart at Discovery Kingdom!
@@ThyPandora roar got retracked recently and I'm gonna sound weird for saying this but roar is running better than ever
It could be called RMC: "Roar Made Cooler"
@@ThyPandora considering jokers jinx is in the same park I’m gonna hope not
"Twisted Iron Roar"
Good length ride, nice kinda coaster for people who don't want extreme but don't fancy a kiddie ride either :)
or for people who want bruises and a headache. please rmc and six flags 🙏🙏

Maybe it was because of the camera position, but roar did look pretty smooth! That retracking must've worked!
I missed this back in 2017 when I visited the park for the first time, I missed this and Superman (both down due to technical issues). A return visit is required.
Yeah I noticed the retracking and new lumber installed. A little smoother, but I'd really like the RMC treatment here.
Super underrated. I liked this one more than Superman and have it tied with Wild One in the park
Lol I love this coaster! Good times!! Weeeee!!

i kinda wanna see gci do a full titan re track ngl on this it seems cool
This ride looks to have a bright future! Maybe they can even add Millennium Flyers
Edit: Can you guys do a review?
I honestly hope they don’t. I think the PTCs provide a smoother ride experience.
@@Derangedlefty I have to disagree. Millennium Flyers are known to make wooden coasters smoother. Sure, some situations might make the ride even rougher, but hey 9/10 the ride gets better.

would be so nice for us non US viewers if you put in your videos the measures in meters and km/h too 🥺
Height: 29 m
Drop: 27 m
Top speed: 82 km/h
Length: 1057 m
That ride needed it for sure
I don't think this will get RMCed cause that retrack, or at least it won't for a long time. I wonder how it feels now.
We need the boys from Idaho for this one.
That looked smooth!
no it really didnt
I'd still give it Millennium Flyers to keep it smooth.
