The "Some Fender Mustang" was Kurt’s first Left-Handed guitar, It was a Left-Handed Fender Mustang that was originally Red but was Sanded Down to the Bare Wood/Walnut Finish. It was purchased from a student at The Evergreen State College for $20. It was first used on 11/23/88 - Speedy O’Tubbs, Rhythmic Underground, Bellingham, WA.
(Nirvana’s next show after 10/30/88 - Dorm K208, The Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA).
This was the first show at which Kurt smashed his guitar, the Classic Sunburst Univox Hi-Flier beyond repair.
the Fender Mustang It styled a rosewood neck with no visible branding on the headstock. The guitar also had no pickguard, and It only had the Fender Dynamic Vibrato Tremolo Plate, Hardtail, and Bridge. Besides the guitar to have been sanded down to bare wood. It Also, had a Soundgarden sticker placed just above the bridge, It was using parts from the smashed Sunburst Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 that was smashed on 10/30/88.
the Fender Mustang had the Univox Hi-Flier Humbucker screwed Into the Bridge, the Control Plate was made from the Broken half of the Univox Hi-Flier Pickguard, It had the Univox Hi-Flier Pots, Input-Jack, And had the Univox Hi-Flier Toggle Switch which wasn’t connected and bent down and covered with Silver Duct Tape and had the Univox Vol/Tone Knobs.
It only having a single humbucker in the bridge, Identical to those fitted on a Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 guitar, and the white control plate from that same model.
means that most likely this Mustang is something Kurt pieced together himself.
Fast forward a couple of months, by January 1989 Kurt cut out an old vinyl record and used It as a pickguard. Kurt used a vinyl record of a Christian sermon dubbed “Where Are The Dead?” published by Thomas Road Baptist Church.
By April 1989, the body seemed to have been painted Daphne Blue/Light Blue and had removed the Soundgarden sticker and the Improvised Vinyl Pickguard was replaced with a proper Mustang pickguard in white. The neck, the Univox pickup, and the control plate all remained the same.
Kurt most likely removed the Soundgarden Sticker and the Vinyl Pickguard and decided to Paint the Fender Mustang as Jason Everman had the same exact Soundgarden Sticker on his Brown/Sanded Down Fender Telecaster underneath the Bridge and Jason's Tele also had a Vinyl Record Pickguard In his case, it was a copy of Venom’s At War With Satan.
After April ‘89 From then on the guitar didn’t see much stage light, and for the next few months, Kurt mainly used a maple neck Univox Hi-Flier Instead.
And June ‘89 Kurt added Red Spray Paint to the body of the Natural Univox Hi-Flier to make it look Sunburst, but ended up looking more like Cherry Sunburst/ Cherry Burst it was used on Nirvana’s First U.S. Tour (Bleach USA Tour), Kurt had a Right-Handed 1973 Sunburst Fender Mustang flipped upside down and strung Lefty. It had no Neck pickup, the empty Neck pickup cavity was covered by a piece of Masking Tape, had no Slider Switches, and the Bridge pickup was replaced with a Univox Hi-Flier Humbucker it was only used for 2 shows 07/08/89 & 07/09/89 and it was smashed a week after smashing it on July 16, 1989 Kurt traded his smashed 1973 Sunburst Fender Mustang to Sluggo for his smashed 1970s Gibson SG. As for the Natural/Red Spray Paint Univox Hi-Flier It was smashed on 07/13/89 at Maxwell’s, Hoboken, NJ.
Then Kurt used a White Univox Hi-Flier from 07/18/89 to 11/11/89 when it was smashed, then Kurt used a Red Hagstrom II (F-200) until it was smashed on 11/27/89
Then Kurt used a Washburn Force 31 for the last 5 shows of the Bleach European Tour and smashed the Washburn Force 31 on 12/03/89. On 12/20/89 Kurt purchased a Left-Handed Hondo 737 Black and White Les Paul Copy from Top Kick Jewelry and Loans, Tacoma, WA and also fixed up the 1970s Gibson SG by painting it Daphne Blue, removed 3 of the Control pots, used a Univox Hi-Flier Vol knob, added a Univox Hi-Flier Humbucker in the Bridge, the 1973 Fender Mustang Neck Pickup into the Neck cavity on the SG, covered the bottom corner (which would technically be the top corner but since its a Right-Handed Gibson SG it’s Flipped and Strung Lefty), covered the bottom corner with Ton of Black Duct Tape. It had the Original 70’s Gibson Harmonica Bridge and Stop-Tailpiece. Both the Gibson SG and the Hondo 737 Les Paul Copy were used live on 01/06/90 East Ballroom, Husky Union Building, University of Washington, Seattle, WA six days later on 01/12/90 Kurt smashed the Hondo 737 at Satyricon, Portland, OR. The Gibson SG was used on and off until it was smashed on 02/17/90 Iguana’s, Tijuana, Mexico.
And Kurt had the 1970s Epiphone ET-270 guitar at the 01/06/90 show but it wasn’t used it was just facing the wall the whole show Kurt used the Epiphone ET-270 from 01/19/90 Rignhall, Olympia, WA to 04/26/90 Pyramid Club, New York, NY.
Then from 04/27/90 - 04/30/90 Kurt used his 3rd and Final Home-Made Hybrid Mustang (which you can see clips of Kurt playing it 45 minutes away from my house at Maxwell’s, Hoboken, NJ. In the Sub Pop In Bloom (Alternate) Music Video where Kurt is wearing the Mudhoney “Big Muff” T-shirt and Kurt’s Playing his Home Made
    Hybrid Surf Green Mustang).
This Fender Mustang which is seen on the cover of the “Bleach” Album, and hasn't been seen since April 14, 1989 was used Live on February 9, 1990 Pine Street Theater, Portland, OR which it was smashed beyond repair...
(It can be seen at MoPoP In Seattle of what's left of the guitar).
So those 2 Mustangs are the Same exact one.
And 1:30 the Guitar Kurt is using it's a Washburn Force 31. Bought by Bruce Pavitt for Kurt in Italy on November 28, 1989. As Kurt smashed his White Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 on November 11, 1989 at Ecstasy, Berlin (west) Germany and then Kurts only other guitar the Red Hagstrom II F-200 guitar which was smashed on November 27, 1989 at the Piper Club, Rome, Italy.
While having a day off on November 28, 1989 and Kurt having a Nervous Breakdown on Stage the night before 11/27/89 Bruce Pavitt from Sub Pop took around the Rome Coliseum, And since Kurt no longer had any guitars with him Bruce bought Kurt a Washburn Force 31 which Kurt used for the last 5 shows of Nirvana's Bleach European Tour....
11/29/89, 11/30/89, 12/01/89, 12/02/89, 12/03/89 which was the last show of the Tour which was at the Astoria Theatre London UK (Lamefest 'UK) Which at the end of the show Kurt Smashed the Washburn Force 31 guitar.

@@jakespencer431 Yeah the Mustang Kurt used from 11/23/88 to 04/07/89 (the Mustang that was Sanded down to the bare wood which looks almost like a Walnut Finish, and had the Soundgarden Sticker on it) you can see this guitar really good in pics from the February 25, 1989 Husky Union Ballroom, Seattle, WA. The 10/30/88 K208, (Dorm Party), The Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA where Kurt smashed his Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 Sunburst (which Kurt used from 1985 to 10/30/88 as this was the first show that Kurt smashed his guitar) the next show they played was on 11/23/88 Speedy O'Tubbs, Bellingham, WA I when Kurt used his first Left-Handed guitar, which was a Fender Mustang (which the decal on the Headstock was removed so it had a plain headstock), and Kurt used parts from the Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 that he smashed on 10/30/88 so I assume Kurt found a cheap Fender Mustang that was originally Red and either Kurt or the previous owner had sanded it down to the Bare Wood, and Kurt probably bought it as maybe just a body with Tremolo Plate, Bridge, and Neck or it could of been a complete Mustang which Kurt removed the Pickguard and Pickups, Control Plate, etc (no info on how it was when Kurt bought the Mustang) but at the 11/23/88 show the Mustang just had the Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 Humbucker in the Bridge, and the Control Plate was made from the broken half of the Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 Pickguard, and had the Univox Hi-Flier Pots/Vol/Tone/In-Put Jack and a Soundgarden Sticker added to it, it had no Pickguard... in January 1989 Kurt made a Pickguard from a Vinyl Record, of a Christian Sermon entitled "Where Are The Dead?" By Thomas Baptist Church. Which is how he kept it until April '89 when Kurt removed the Soundgarden Sticker and painted the Mustang Light Green and replaced the Home Made Vinyl Record Pickguard to a White Mustang Pickguard but other then painting it Light Green and adding a White Mustang Pickguard everything else was the same it had the same Neck, Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 Humbucker, Broken Univox Hi-Flier Pickguard as a Control Plate, and the Univox Hi-Flier Pots (Vol/Tone & In-Put Jack) it's the Mustang Kurt is playing on the cover of the "Bleach" Album. It disappeared after April 1989 as Kurt used other Guitars (Natural Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 in May, then in June Kurt added Red Spray Paint to make it look Sunburst which looked more like Cherry Sunburst .. Kurt used this Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 from May 89 to July 13, 1989 when he smashed it Maxwell's Hoboken NJ which is 45 mins from my house) then Kurt used a White Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 from July 18, 1989 to November 11, 1989 when Kurt smashed it, Kurt used a Hagstrom II from November 5 to November 27, 1989 when he Smashed it, then November 29-December 3 1989 Kurt used a Washburn Force 31 and that was smashed on the 3rd of December, then In January 90' Kurt used a Gibson SG which Kurt had gotten on July 16, 1989 in Watertown, MA from a Musician named Sluggo Cawley guitarist from the band Hullabaloo. Kurt traded a 1973 Fender Mustang Sunburst Right-Handed flipped upside down Strung Lefty, with the Neck Pickup removed and the empty pickup cavity covered by a piece of masking tape, and the bridge pickup was replaced with a Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 Humbucker. (This Mustang was only used for 2 shows July 8, 1989 and July 9, 1989) and on July 16, 1989 Kurt traded the smashed 1973 Fender Mustang for Sluggo's Smashed 1970s Gibson SG (After Kurt returned home from the European Tour in late 1989 Kurt painted the Gibson SG (Sonic Blue) and had a Univox Hi-Flier Phase 3 Humbucker in the Bridge and some kind of black Single-Coil pickup In the neck slot, this SG was first used on Jan 6, 1990 and was used on and off for a few shows in early 1990, Kurt bought a Hondo 737 Les Paul Copy on December 20, 1989 which Kurt Only used live from January 6-12, 1990 when it was smashed, then Kurt used the Epiphone ET-270 and the SG (and Kurt had 3 Homemade Hybrid Mustangs) Kurt brought back the Fender Mustang from 11/23/88-04/07/89 at the 02/09/90 Pine Street theatre, Portland, OR show where it was smashed, then on 02/14/90 Kurt smashed one of the Homemade Hybrid Mustang guitars a Surf Green Mustang with a Black Maxon Humbucker, Schaller Non-Tremolo Bridge, Control Plate with a Vol Knob and Input Jack and had a Custom made Pickguard with Jesus on it the Neck was a Fernandes Neck with the Headstock Painted Black, and also had a Fernandes Neckplate when it was smashed. On 02/16/90 the Second Homemade Hybrid Mustang which was painted Shell Pink which had No Pickguard also had a Neck with the Headstock Painted Black, a Schaller Non-Tremolo Bridge, Black Maxon Humbucker, with the wire from the Humbucker coming over the body, to the Volume knob under the control plate and to the input Jack, then the following night 02/17/90 Kurt smashed the Gibson SG, after that the Epiphone ET-270 was Kurts main and only guitar until April 26, 1990 when Kurt Smashed the Epiphone ET-270, then April 27-30, 1990 Kurt used the Third and last Homemade Hybrid Mustang which was Sonic Blue and was exactly like the previous Shell Pink Mustang, with no Pickguard, Schaller Non-Tremolo Bridge, Black Maxon Humbucker, with the Wire coming up from the bottom of the Humbucker over the body to the Vol Knob under the control plate to the input Jack, As well with a Neck with the Headstock Painted Black that was smashed on 04/30/90 (you can see this hybrid homemade Mustang in the Sub Pop version of the In Bloom Music Video during footage that was filmed at Maxwell's, Hoboken, NJ on April 28, 1990 the parts where Kurt is wearing the Mudhoney T-shirt, and using the Light Blue Mustang) And May Kurt got an Aria Pro II Cardinal Series guitar... Which Kurt later around the 6th or 7th of May Kurt removed 3 of the Speed Knobs, and kept only the Vol Knob on but replace the speed knob to a Univox Hi-Flier Vol Knob and removed one of the tiny In-Out Phase toggle switch, bent the other one, the Main toggle switch he removed the plastic tip and bent it to stay in the Bridge setting, and one of the metal control knobs broke off, and Kurt removed the original Zebra (black/creme) Aria Pro II Humbucker from the bridge and added an all Black Humbucker which was most likely a Maxon Humbucker that was from his last hybrid homemade Mustang that was used at the end of April. Kurt used the Aria Pro II Cardinal Series from May 2, 1990 to May 17, 1990 (After they stopped touring as May 17, 1990 was the last show with Chad Channing on drums) when Nirvana played live again in August 1990 Kurt had the Mosrite Gospel Mark IV as his main guitar and the Aria Pro II Cardinal Series as a backup the Aria Pro II Cardinal Series was smashed at the end of the 09/22/90 Motor Sports International Garage show. And as for the Univox Hi-Flier Humbucker not sure as it's a Japanese made Guitar (Univox Hi-Fliers were made from 1967-1977) but the Phase 1 and 2 models had P90s and the Phase 3 and Phase 4 models had the Humbuckers the Phase 3 Hi-Flier was released In 1974/1975 and the Phase 4 was released in 1976/1977.
I really like and want the KC Signature Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red Mustangs
I am not really a fan of the KC Competition Dark Lake Placid Blue Mustang as it's made wrong and not like Kurts (like the Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red Mustangs were made in Japan at the Fejigen Factory in 1993 and the KC Signature Sonic Blue/Fiesta Red Mustangs were also Made in Japan at the Fejigen Factory and they are an exact Replica of Kurt's In Utero Tour Mustangs... As for the Competition Mustang why I don't like it is because they made it just like the Sonic Blue/Fiesta Red Mustangs in Japan, when Kurts Fender Lake Placid Blue Competition Mustang was made in the USA in 1969 and it had a Matching Headstock, and the only "Mods" done to it was the bridge pickup was replaced with a Black 1980s Seymour Duncan Hotrail Pickup, in Oct '92 the bridge was changed to a Gotoh Tune-o-Matic Bridge, and the Tremolo Plate was locked and the Hardtail was flipped. Like I want the KC Signature Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red Mustangs, and get an Original 1969 Lake Placid Blue Competition Mustang so it's accurate and a complete Replica.
I have an issue with the NOS Jaguar as well as it's Sunburst is darker then Kurts 1965 Jaguar, and it's all shiny to me the NOS Jaguar looks like someone took a Jaguar and added the Cobain Specs to it, I like the Discontinued Road-Worn Jaguar better that looks more accurate and more like a real replica of Kurts Jaguar as the Road Worn Jaguar has the same chips in the finish that Kurts Jaguar had....
And hopefully your not getting one of the new 2021 Made in Mexico Jag-Stang I heard they suck (2 out 5 stars), the Original 1995/1996 1st Run Made in Japan Jag-Stang and the 2002-2005 2nd Run Crafted in Japan Jag-Stang are way better. Japanese made Guitars are better quality then Made in Mexico guitars.
It would of been nice if they Made the Jag-Stang exactly like how Kurt had his tech Earnie Bailey set it up with a Fender Texas Special Single-Coil pickup in the Neck, a Seymour Duncan JB Humbucker in the Bridge and the Adjust-O-Matic Bridge (Just like the ones on the KC Signature Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red Mustangs).
I'm lefty as well but I play Right-Handed though, I'm like an opposite Cobain (as Kurt was Right-Handed but played Guitar Lefty and I'm Left-Handed but play guitar Righty).

@@Oblah_RL I already knew all of it, I followed Kurt's musical career from when he started playing guitar until 1994. And as a Musician I know what Guitars he used and I know which ones had mods done and what mods were what... Like in the pic of Kurt from December 1982 at his Aunt Mari Earl's Residence in Burien, WA when he was recording his first demo "Organized Confusion" Kurt was using a Right-Handed 1976 Sunburst Ibanez Destroyer which Kurt drew (Black and White Checkers) on the White Pickguard.
So to Answer your question I honestly know pretty much everything there is to know about Cobain from his music to art to equipment to clothes, etc etc...
I am like a Human Cobain Biography....

    • @rychcorporhate
      @rychcorporhate 2 года назад +1

@@Oblah_RL At first I wasn't sure if you were being sarcastic... Until then I read the second half of your Question...
And to answer your question the White 1991/1992 Fender Made in Japan Stratocaster after it was smashed in Argentina it wasn't used again, Kurt probably just kept it for parts or left it with his other guitars that he either stopped using or never used live... There was a ton of guitars he owned he never used live.
And for example like the 1991 Fender Made in Japan Stratocaster that had the Black on White on Black Pickguard and a Seymour Duncan '59 Humbucker in the bridge (which he started using in June 1991) Then by August 1991 Kurt added the Infamous "Vandalism: Beautiful As A Rock In A Cop's Face Courtesy of the Feederz Office of Anti-Public Relations" Bumper Sticker which Kurt got from the Arizona Punk band The Feederz 1986 album "Teachers in Space" which the Vinyl came with 1 of 12 Different Bumper It just so happened that the copy Kurt owned came with the Vandalism Sticker. But as we know during the European Tour Supporting Sonic Youth in August 1991 Kurt was using the 1991 Vandalism Fender Stratocaster which still had the original Fender Neck, then once that was broken off, the Vandalism Stratocaster had a Fernandes LE-1 Neck added to it (as Fender Japan Stratocasters and Fernandes guitars were both made by Fujigen Factory in Japan). Then Kurt broke the Fernandes Neck off the Vandalism Stratocaster on 10/31/91 at The Paramount Theater Seattle WA, next time it's seen was at the 11/25/91 Paradiso Amsterdam NL which then had a Kramer Neck (with the logo sanded off), which was then smashed off at the 12/07/91 Salle Omnisports (Trans Musicales), Rennes, France show which was the last show of the Nevermind European Tour.
Sometime in 1992 Earnie Bailey (Kurt's Guitar Tech) added a New Fender Neck onto the Vandalism Stratocaster but Kurt Never used that guitar live again after the 12/07/91 show.
But getting back to your Question... Kurt had 2 White Fender Made in Japan Stratocasters, one he got in the UK on the Nevermind European Tour and used it on 11/05/91 Astoria Theatre, London, UK and Broke off the Neck on 11/23/91 Vooruit, Ghent, Belgium. Then while Nirvana was the Nevermind Pacific Rim Tour of Australia/Japan on 02/14/92 Kurt got a New White Fender Made in Japan Stratocaster he used it until he broke the neck off it at the 02/22/92 Pink's Garage, Honolulu, HI show and used it again during the Summer of 1992 on the Reschedule Nevermind European Tour when Nirvana played a bunch of Outdoor Festivals, the 09/11/92 Seattle Center Coliseum, Seattle, WA show Kurt used both White Fender Stratocasters besides his '65 Fender Jaguar at that show (and the way to tell the two White Fender Stratocasters which both had White Seymour Duncan Hotrail Pickups in the Bridge positions) the way to tell them apart was the White MIJ Fender Stratocaster from 11/05/91-11/23/91 had No back plate on the back of the guitar and the White MIJ Fender Stratocaster that was bought in Japan on 02/14/92 had the back plate still on it... (At the end of the 09/11/92 Seattle Center Coliseum (Washington Music Industry Coalition Benefit), Seattle, WA show Kurt smashed the White Fender Stratocaster from the 11/05/91-11/23/91 shows and then the White Fender Stratocaster from 02/14/92 Japan show was smashed at the end of the 10/30/92 Estadio José Amalfitani, Buenos Aires, Argentina show.
And the Sunburst Fender Stratocaster Kurt used on 08/30/92 Reading Festival, Reading, UK it was also used on "Endless, Nameless" at the 04/09/93 Cow Palace (Tresnjevka Women's Group Benefit), Daly City, CA show. And then that Sunburst Fender Stratocaster was then last use on 11/26/93 Morocco Shrine Auditorium, Jacksonville, FL where it was Smashed.
Anyways I hope this somewhat helps your question....

(As on April 26, 1990 Pyramid Club, New York, NY Kurt smashed his Epiphone ET-270, so for the April 27-30, 1990 shows Kurt used his 3rd and final Home Made Hybrid Surf Green/Light Blue Mustang (seen in parts of the Sub Pop In Bloom Music Video which was filmed at Maxwell's Hoboken NJ on April 28, 1990) After Smashing his Sunn Beta Lead Amps on May 1, 1990 Cat's Cradle, Chapel Hill, NC. So the following day May 2, 1990 Kurt bought the Aria Pro II Cardinal Series CS-250, Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp, Crown Power Base 2 Poweramp which Kurt used (around May 6-9, 1990, Kurt replace the Aria Pro II Cardinal Series Zebra Bridge Humbucker to an All Black Maxon Humbucker (which he most likely took from the Smashed Home Made Hybrid Mustang, removed 3 of the Speed Knobs, ended up breaking one of the control knobs where a Speed Knob used to be, the Volume knob Kurt replace the speed knob to a Univox Hi-Flier Vol Knob, and one of the smaller toggle switches Kurt completely took off the guitar, and broke the Main toggle switch in the "Bridge" Position) and also worth mentioning though Kurt bought the Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp/Crown Power Base 2 Poweramp (which became Kurts Main Amp at the May 13, 1990 show Kurt used a Sunn Beta Lead Amp Head and had a DOD Compressor and Sustainer pedal on top of the Sunn Beta Lead Amp.)
Kurt used the Aria Pro II Cardinal Series CS-250 from May 2, 1990 - May 17, 1990 (last show with Chad Channing on drums) and sometime during the Summer Kurt bought the Mosrite Gospel Mark IV guitar, which became his main guitar and the Aria Pro II Cardinal Series was a back up, the Aria Pro II Cardinal Series was smashed at the end of the 09/22/90 Motor Sports International Garage, Seattle, WA show. In October 1990 Kurt bought his first Fender Stratocaster a White Made In Japan Stratocaster which Kurt added a Black Slanted Humbucker in the Bridge, and a "K" Records Sticker on the top end of the guitar. Which became Kurts main guitar and tye Mosrite Gospel Mark IV became the back up. (the last time Kurt played the Mosrite Gospel Mark IV Live was on 02/09/91 when Kurt & Dave were Guest Appearances with Slim Moon's band Witchypoo) In March 1991 Kurt used the White MIJ Fender Stratocaster with the Black Slanted Humbucker and the "K" Records Sticker, and Kurt got a New Black and White Fender Japan Stratocaster which Kurt added a Black Humbucker in the Bridge (which is the Stratocaster that had the neck broke off during the Nevermind Sessions on the recording of "Endless, Nameless" the Guitar had a New Fender Neck added to it, and the Fender Bridge was replaced with a Gibson Tune-o-Matic Bridge and Stop-Tailpiece.
Which you can see during the Nevermind North American Tour (September 20, 1991 - Until it was smashed on October 12, 1991). The last time the "K" Strat was seen was April 17, 1991 OK Hotel, Seattle, WA (before the recording of Nevermind) after finishing the Album, Nirvana's next show was May 29, 1991 Jabberjaw, Los Angeles, CA and Kurt had yet another Brand new Black Japanese Fender Stratocaster this one had a Black Pickguard and a Black Seymour Duncan '59N Humbucker in the Bridge which was used on the shows in June & August 1991 (this is known as the Vandalism Stratocaster) as in August 1991 Kurt took the Bumper Sticker he got from the 80's Arizona Punk band The Feederz second Album "Teachers in Space" and added the Sticker onto the Strat... (The Feederz Teachers in Space Vinyl came with 1 of 12 Bumper Stickers) so the one Kurt got was the "Vandalism: Beautiful As A Rock In A Cop's Face Courtesy of the Feederz Office of Anti-Public Relations" which became Kurts best Known Stratocaster.
