Man what a cool little engine. I’ve been looking at this one. Just so you know when you’re pouring the oil turn the spout part of the oil container up. It should be on the top side and the oil will pour more smoothly. Great video buddy, I hope you’re enjoying your little engine.
Great light weight little outboard. The kick back on trying to start it is annoying. All small Suzuki outboards seem to do it - and it can hurt! Good video.
When filling the oil, the manual says fill to the upper level of dipstick. The upper level is NOT 0.7L. 0.7l is the capacity of the tank. When i bought the engine, dealer said to fill it up to 0.7l, DO NOT do that, fill to upper level of oil stick.
Remember...never ever store it with pump gas in it. Use ASPEN fuel or simulare fuel before store it (last few liters). Else that carburator will go bad..
@@MrMeltedwellies I just bought one. Will be breaking it in for the next couple of days in a barrel. I have a great source for it, and always run ethanol-free gas in my engines that have a carburetor, especially outboards. If I couldn't get it though, I would be looking for something sold in a can, like VP Fuel or something similar.
Thanks for the "review", i have just acquired 2 of these as part of a yacht deal. Just a point or two... Your description of how a 4-stroke work is far from correct... Your explanation of the purpose of the anode is also 100% wrong!
My problem with all the Suzuki small engines(below 25 hp) is they don’t have a hose connection to flush the motor if you operate in salt water. You have to use a bucket under the prop to flush. How stupid are their engineers?
You forgot to show how to make the motor trim up and down . I figured it out finally. Thanx for the video.
Sorry about that

Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching Justin
About where in the window should the oil level be?
buenas tardes! tengo un problema con la aguja de este motor... sabe si algun otro kit le anda bien? saludos
Thank you so much. I love to listen to your voice of explanation. Watching from Marudi Sarawak
So nice of you thank you so much
merci à vous bonne vidéo, precise bien détaillée 😀
J'avais besoin de ces infos car je vais en acheter un dans quelques jours. Merci de vos explications 😊
The zinc annode on the side corrodes instead of any of the alloys on the motor. It's sacrificial and will deplete over time. Great video thanks.
Thanks for the tips!
I am offered a 2016 demo model. So you know if there is any significant differences between the 2022 and the 2016 model?
I hope they have fixed there sticking exhaust valve issues in the latest editions???? BTW makesure it get full throttle! 💯👍🏼
Thank you Mark. I'm going to bay the same outboard.
Good choice George
@@MrMeltedwellies i just got the df5a 2020 version brand new i think there wasnt much different from the 2022 version and i got a discount
Mark el mejor explicando, felicidadesssss
Just got one. Lovely little thing. Any idea where the oil filter is? Says to change it after 20h but doesn’t even show it in the manual.
don't think it has a oil filter just drain and refill
Shift lever side grey canister
Did you have to check the gear oil?
no all done

Totally agree James
They seem to be setup to run very lean. Mine also has the same kickback, worse in hot weather.

Upper level of oil stick is 0,7L. I just checked.
Такой мотор у меня был 6 лет.👍🇷🇺
i like them thanks for watching
Did you put in gearbox oil?
No all ready done
Щуп не нужно закручивать, он просто опускается и всё
A piece of paper rolled up makes a quick disposable funnel.
What, new engine and that oil mud, is not acceptable where the funnel is? Enyoy it...
Bisa ke indonesia brapa hargany.
I don't know sorry
Why 10W-30.....Suzuki recommends the use of SAE 10W-40 !!!
IN VERY COLD WEATHER (below 5°C / 41°F) use SAE 5W-30
Bro calm down
9:39 shows 10w-30 is ok too
Will the tohatsu 6 HP motors be almost the same ???
yes
@@MrMeltedwelliesno, the Mercury is the clone of the tohatsu
I don't think I saw you put any lube in the bottom chamber of the shaft?!
do you mean gear oil Dale
@@MrMeltedwellies yeah that stuff...
came with it as its a sealed unit
@@MrMeltedwellies it comes ready filled but its definitely not a sealed unit.
@@MrMeltedwellies 😬
What site did you buy the outboard from?
Thanks
ebay
which type of oil
Ecstar 10w40 marine oil - 0.7 Liters // Suzuki Oil Filter 16510-16H11
10W-40 Marine
Cold weather 5W-30 Marine
Very nice !
Thank you very much!
you should not pull out the safety plastic, you should just push the red button on to stop the engine :-)
ill give it a go thanks for tip

good point
The DF6A has a hose flush connection
Yeah, too bad. My previous '85 6hp Suzuki had a flush port near the impeller.
Yes they all have a flush plug it's located under the bottom cover near the telltale.
39👍
That motor sounds real bad it starts shaking it might be brand new it doesn't run good
ill give it another go thanks for comment Lee
