Start with easier poses. Like, for example just a palm facing up or down. The length of the middle finger is about the same as the length of the palm. Adjust the other 3 fingers accordingly, and draw the thumb. The thumb starts out a little above the base of the palm, but the middle of the thumb aligns with the base of the fingers, roughly. I think this is a good enough target to aim for as a beginner. This coming from a fellow beginner. Enjoy. 😁

These hands aren't finished, they're rough sketches, which isn't a bad thing at all. This is great for some simple exercises! Great tutorial!
