  • In this review, I go hands-on with the PAW5 snuffle mat. This is a slow feeder for dogs that instead of being a bowl is a "feeding mat" for dogs. it is constructed of upcycled materials ( cotton, polyester, and spandex which is taken from t-shirts ). The construction and quality is very solid and holds up, not just in use but even through repeated machine washes and drying. You can sprinkle and or place all kinds of air-dried, freeze-dried, dehydrated, treats, or kibble to feed or treat your dog. It is a great way to distract them, treat them, or give them some exercise and emotionally, physically, and mentally stimulate them. Consider there are days where it can be very hot outside or it is raining or snowing and this makes for a great indoor activity. What about the times when you are looking to relax and maybe do not want to give your dog a chew or you do not have a chew. This is a great option to help reduce boredom or some behavior issues which occur due to lack of activity or enrichment.
Most dogs will immediately know how to use it due to the tendency to sniff, snort, and forage, especially with the food and or, treats present within the snuffle mat. For dogs new to it they can pick up on quickly and easily and in most cases, dogs will not try to chew, tear, or flip over the mat. So additional benefits are that you have little to no likelihood of having to worry about allergies from grass, debris, dander and other environmental elements like you do with grass. There are no insects or even synthetic plastics to worry about your dog ingesting. You also do not have to worry about needles, spines, or various other plant life that can hurt your dog's face or snout.
Overall this is a great product that every dog owner should consider getting and it gets our recommended award along with every dog should have award.
Its dimensions are 12"x18" and comes in a single color ( gray ) and currently sells for approx 39.99 on Amazon, Chewy and directly from Paw5.

This was one of the most thought-out reviews! Incredible job, I was surprised to see only a couple of comments here. It deserves more. Keep it up.

I actually have it on hand. I have thought about doing a hands on impressions but I prefer organic ( natural chews ). That being noted I may look to highlight in a basic preview. Is it something you have tried? What has been your experience. I will say it is extremely hard. Hard enough to make me wonder about giving it to a dog...... It is harder than many antlers or tree stumps which I have seen given to dogs.

How old do they have to be to start using this? :)

No age restriction, you can use this with puppies. It is a good way to tire them and try to pull their focus. I would say though based on the QTY of food you may find this will replace one of their meals unless you ration out the amount you are using in the mat alongside what you feed the pup.

It looks good. But I think this is for kibble feeders. Can we use it with raw feeding? I don't think so:)
Do you have any recommendation for raw feeders? Maybe slow feeder?

You are correct, for raw feeders you best option is a bowl but I would not use plastic due to possible bacteria build up over time. i would look to use a ceramic slow feeder or stainless steel option. There are some newer ones I have not tried that are made of silicone which would also look to be a good choice.
