This has got to be in my top 5 jazz piano trio recordings ever! Almost moves me to tears when I listen. I've been looking for a transcription for... oh, I don't know, maybe 30 years! You've made my decade! :)

How in the world do you do that? I have this in a book from the cd, but it does not have the piano or bass solo. This transcription is better than the book. Thank you so much for this and all of your transcriptions. I have learned so much from these. Even if you have perfect pitch to hear all the notes, to nail all the rhythms is just over my head. But once I hear it then see it on paper it makes so much more sense. Still beyond me how you do it but thank you again. 🎃

I just retired. Partially transcribed Chick’s version in the ‘90’s….with a pencil and slowed down tape player…never finished.

Nope 👎 I think Chick made it too modal which eliminated the melodic texture of the song a couple of chords were too far away from the simple harmony of the song

It is very modular, but I think Chick did the original song great justice ….The rubato opening is particularly well done and challenging to play. While the original version , from the Oh, Good Grief album is my favorite, this is my second favorite version of this Guaraldi classic.
