- This is my review of the new CZUR Fancy, a price conscious version of the higher end CZUR Pro scanner that I use and love for my vintage documentation scans. It also doubles up as a livestream cam. CZUR provided the scanner for free, so that counts as a sponsored video. Below is the link with the sponsored description, and also links to some scans I made in the video.
3 IN 1, 4k Document Camera-Fancy S Pro, please get it at CZUR's official store: shop.czur.com/...

"Boy, do I hate Adobe Reader" - a sentiment I completely agree with. Put those junk side bars out of the way!
Actually possible to do, just hidden in a obscure settings. Had to Google for it but it saved the preference over a bunch of updates
I am so upset they took rotate view out of the context menu. Now they try to get you to click on rotate document and that launches the Buy Pro version ad. Reeee
Thanks! I certainly don't mind “sponsored” content when it's as balanced and useful as this.

Happy new year guys! Wish you the best vintage findings this year! (And happiness of course)
The small footprint is indeed very appealing. I’ve got the CZUR 24Pro myself, and while this is a really nice device and scanning is perfect, it is quite bulky and takes quite a lot of space even when stored somewhere on the shelf while not used.
Yes, Happy Soldering in 2023 CM & Crew.
Happy New Year! Looking forward to a lot of weird electronics and utter nerdy-ness.
Finally, somebody else with a copy of the TTL Data Book from TI on their shelf!
Oh, nice! I'd definitely love to have one, both for capturing the bench (and off-bench, out-of-lab) action and for scanning books. It looks very portable and compact when stored. Perfect for travelling specialists :).
The fact that I even have a CZUR Is twice thanks to you. This was pretty neat. Weird looking camera!
The original Czur discount for Marc's Pro model was very welcome a few years ago...maybe they'll do something similar for this model? HNY Marc and crew!
No Linux drivers for this?
My guess is that they intend for "CZUR" to be pronounced like "Caesar", but I can't help but automatically pronounce it as "seizure".
Sadly, the software is not Linux compatible, it seems.
Linux and Mac are rarely a concern for startup companies like this unfortunately.
Since the thing is usable as a webcam it might be UVC compatible, so no drivers needed to get an image out of the thing. Of course any extra function would not be there, but still
You could install windows into a locked down VM for those time you need it.
@@vincei4252 Of course, but I'd rather not. That would mean a windows license (if I was to do it proper), and I think it would be better if companies started thinking about a broader audience.
@@gigigigiontis8 Yeah, to me it looked like a lot of the value of this product lays in the software and how it is used to scan documents. If it was just about having a camera on an arm, that could probably be done in other ways too.
Only 7 left!... well, 6 now. Coming February! The mat was an option.
Happy New Year CM crew 🍻🍹🤗
Very nice. I like it. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Appealing! But there's no reason accurate page separation line finding cannot be done optically these days; that is only a limitation of the software, and I'd like to see offerings that give that accuracy without expensive laser hardware.
How does it work as a soldering/inspection/fine work "microscope"? I'm using an old cludge together "security cam" module on a monitor arm for my macro chip identification and solder inspection needs which isn't so elegant and needs a cvbs tv.
Nice and neat camera but beware that they have dumbed down the software for this model now where the scanning software only takes very basic pictures and doesn't correct for the page curvature or do OCR etc. Kind of disappointing.
Good to know. Thanks.
Wow the resolution is pretty remarkable. The fact it is usable as a webcam had me thinking it was low resolution webcam with fancy software, which doesn't seem to actually be the case.
Marc, how does it connect to the computer? USB-C or USB-B?
I looked at the HP 6267B Power Supply Manual you uploaded to Internet Archive and saw that page 4-2 is missing in the scan.
Very impressive scans, I could potentially justify this for scanning magazines over the cost of buying the available ones in digital format. However, it's no surprise that a dedicated system to measure distance is better than relying on cameras alone, maybe another company should take note.
may be a black string laying in middle of book would help separate page ?
I am definitely on a budget so this is going to have to wait but it's better than anything that I've seen before. I wonder if their software is available separately since most of the image recognition and character recognition is all done within software as opposed to within the camera. just treat the source as a twain device. Also I wonder if there is an API for the special functions that could be linked to obs.
How can it not be "seizure"?
What an incredible demonstration. Thank you so much. I want to ask you one thing. I have the ET24 Pro like you but when I stream with it I see delay and blurring with quick movements. You said reduce it from 4k to 1080p. How do I do that and where? . Thanks so much. I've been tearing my hair out over this.
That was an option in setting the source in OBS
@@CuriousMarc Thanks for this, what was the option in OBS - what bit did you click or what setting? Any idea? Most grateful if can let me know
I wonder if that device could also be used to "scan" assembled PCBs for component inspection, reverse engineering, etc. What is the depth of field?
Yes I use them for that too!
Question: as the scanning and OCR is entirely done in sofware, can the software be used with a regular digital camera with 1080p USB 2.0 output. It depends what type of USB device it is detected as in device manager? You could make a folding arm yourself if you have some spare wood, hinges and GU10 LEDs for illumination (like i do).
I have the 18Pro and it is a great tool. Agree the big ones are a pain to store, but the quality of the scans and the machine's ability to handle poorly reproduced schematics, build drawings, and aging photographs more than makes up for what is, to me, a minor inconvenience.
Now I'm heading for my "Robert" to find out what the french equivalent for "plonk" is. nb Google translate is not usually "up to snuff" with colloquialisms. ps I can but hope that when the Google really gets it act into gear that it can provide a few meanings for plonk in french: cheap low quality wine and the verb. and of course the pejorative: plonker.
oh, really everyone is using obs 💪😎 whichframerate does it give live?
How does it do for photograph scanning? And color brochures? Etc.?
Is it not pronounced “SEE-zurr”???
"caesar", "seizure" ... we'll never know.
it is. And he's said it correctly before, not sure why the change. The company says how to pronounce it too. Why does every youtuber screw this up lol..
Are these scans shared anywhere? I know it's all technically copyrighted but it's manuals and product lit, so Texas Instruments probably wouldn't mind it at least being offered on their web page.
I had legal issues with texas instrument when I put some op amp design book. Not scanned, but pdf from ti website.
@@kaunomedis7926 I think TI has hired one of those “IP protection as a service” companies that has no interest in making judgement calls. The entire TI section disappeared from bitsavers for a while.
Bien 👍
This reminds me of the artificial intelligence that can recognize carp.
This software searched all the pictures on the Internet with fish on them to see if it was a carp.
It turns out that carp always have hands on the underside to hold the fish.
Oh no!!! Not a new "BUGDET"! No way!
CZ in CZUR, if CZUR is a Slavic name: it is pronounced like the tsch in the German tschuess, or ch-sans-e in cheese, or ch-sans-u in chug. It’s a plosive sound, made with tongue in the middle of the palate IIRC.
If this was open source the technology advances would be much faster.
They could have laser focus and three cameras pointed at different angles to take into account the curve of the fold or the could use air to blow the paper flat and tunr the pages automaticaly.
Not as good as others. If you have anything glossy, it has a horrible reflection not usable can't read the text. It's good in certain situations. But I paid for mine to discover this issue. Someone that gets it free might not
"CZUR" pronounced as "Caesar" maybe?
i have one that i bought from their China office, their software does not allow anyone outside china to use it and their customer support is almost close to none. scan quality is not great.
Annoying that an established company like this is still doing crowdfunded products. Big pass for me. Been burned too many times.
I agree. I don't trust it. Just like me buy it straight up on Amazon or something like that.
@@va3ngc scamazon, where most of the reviews are fake and almost all of the negative reviews are pseudo deleted and claim to be problems with Amazon fulfillment, even if the problem has nothing to do with shipping or fulfillment.
How have you been burned, John?
