Ahhh Barry! That would be fantastic!!! But you are so so so faaaar away 😊. I need to catch up on some of your stuff, too, looks like you had some decent adventure happening as expected from you 😂 miss you and sending u a big bear hug over the oceans 😘
Lovely spot. Those entrances give me the willies, got my timing wrong leaving a lagoon in Portugal, the boat did a submarine impression through a standing wave, took a good hour for my legs to stop shaking.
😮hui that sounds like quite the adventure as well. It`s incredible to see what a sailboat can actually take on. once it`s over it`s quite impressive but if you are right in it, it`s a bit worrysome hehe.
When we sailed through the breakers to get to El Tamarindo, we actually had a pilot in a panga lead us in. It was/is quite a harrowing experience! Looking forward to your return from Germany.❤️
yeah it`s quite the adventure. Paul had done the trip before so we used his tracks. But the shoals do change over time and different weather conditions seem to produce slightly different wave patterns (obviously) so it`s always still a tad bit of a gamble, hehe. But I think sailing out of Bahía Caraquez in Ecuador at night into the breaking waves was even worse than this.......
Good job, smart in closing your the door. I tried to cross Bahia Del Sol bar two weeks ago and got hit by four waves, water inside cockpit. Had to abord and anchor outside and waited for the next morning to get in.
Oh wow!!! That sounds scary. Did you turn around inside all the waves???? That sounds crazy 😬 Yeah it’s a bit more sketchy at Bahia del Sol as far as I have heard. I hope you made it in safely by now ☺️🤞🏼
It's great that your friend knew what he was doing. I've gotten into trouble a few times by letting myself follow another sailor. One time my engine overheated going into Tillamook Bay with an outgoing tide, I opened the engine cover and was hit with antifreeze steam blast so I grabbed my African Grey parrot and locked her in the head so she wouldn't breathe those toxic fumes, she hates sailing to this day, all because my friend was too tired to keep sailing to Astoria. Somewhat similar is scuba diving with a partner, if one dives alone you have gone through your mental checklist, add a second diver and you take on an additional responsibility.
Enjoy your videos very much and have followed you from the start. I also have Reinke S10 and we are in Fiji. You've given me many ideas over the years and I appreciate very much the effort you put in to making the videos.
I've sailed into places through breaking waves before. I think similar language was used. My experience has always been OK, but I double-down on caution. I'm glad you did fine and look forward to your return from D.
Yes, it was in 2011. I was on my way to Panama and the season was late with lots of electrical storms, so I went in there without knowing anything about the bar or entrance (I did radio in and someone guided me on the best route). There was a wonderful sailing community there and a great place to surf - both on the beach and at some places not too far away. The locals are some of the nicest people I have met anywhere.
Wow! You charged that entrance. Fantastic 💪🏽…I feel that heading out will be much easier because you can see the bars where the waves break and begin to anticipate where it is shallow, like a surfer. Heading in seems way more sketchy to me because you can’t see the waves stack up until they are upon you. I think I would have had to take a long time to run parallel to the bars before I had the confidence to enter. Nice you got those avalanching waves but that is often dependent upon the depth to wave height ratio which could change if a solid swell rolls in. Bla bla bla says me. but thanks for the footage I am imagining myself pulling into that anchorage in the near future. Thank you.
I would have watched that for longer as well. But Paul had already done the trip twice (in and out, so basically four times) and had the tracks and he seemed quite confident about this being the right route. In the end, it was not as bad as it looked...but still a bit nerve wracking because you can never be sure...
Ha! I was missing your video. We can see the stress on your face and the quick responses on the tiller, well done! I think I would have been shaking until through the pass. Paul is an "adventurous" man! LOL But looks like a great anchorage. Sensible idea to put Boga in t he cabin. When we had a dog in rough condition I would put him on the port berth that had a high lee cloth and sometimes tie him down so he would not get thrown around too much. Where is going to be Boga's home while you are in Germany? Or she coming with you? Have a nice trip. Cheers, a.
haha, I was shaking a bit, too. Was quite the exercise for both my body and my nerves :). Sounds like you had a good strategy there for your doggy! Boga is coming with me...
Lightbulb! I was worried about Boga (have I got that right?). But now that I am tuned into Paul I think I understand? Boga is going to be part of the building of a floating house! With Luca and Paul! And Karl will have a keen eye on him. I’m probably nuts, but I feel better. See you soon!
Ah wait, now I know what you mean. Because there was a snippet of Boga and I in one of Paul’s videos. That was when I was still in El Salvador. But Paul also got a new puppy and he (coco) looks a lot like Boga. Sorry, it’s a bit confusing 😎
I was thinking that Paul was building in El Salvador? And I thought this episode was in that general area? And then I was worried about your dog and Karl when you returned to Germany…. No worries, I need to be a more diligent viewer. All the best of the season to you and yours, with fair winds and following seas of course!
Hours of boredom and bliss punctured by moments of terror
So true, so true !! giggle wink ⛵️🌴🌞
😁😁yes, a bit like that. Maybe not terror but definitely quite a bit of excitement...
That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen.
harrrrrrr!
Worth it once you got past the rough bar. 😊 Risk and rewards.
yes!!! totally worth it indeed
Some scary waves. Easy to broach, well done.
But what a beautiful anchorage!
Looking forward to your next video.
What a ride! That was amazing even from here on the couch 🤣
😁😁😁
Been a while since I had time to watch a full episode. So want to catch up and have a 'cap full' with you again one day. Stay safe and well.

Amazing adventure tyvm Nike
Great job Captain Niki what a beautiful spot..stay safe and have a great trip to Germany!
ah, it is indeed a little gem that Paul found there.
Wow, you were exuding some serious superhero energy during that entry!
😋if you say so

😁that kind of language is a must when sailing through that stuff, hehe.
Always interesting, beautifully done, and educational pin pointing your locations on google earth... Shout out to Paul and an ear scratch for Boga
Glad you enjoyed it
Ships are safe in port. But that's not what they're made for! Go forth and adventure!
I keep observing the dog's behavior, she is really special.
she is indeed so so special. What have you been observing so far??
@@WhiteSpotPirates Hi Nike.
7:44 Nope, she isn't talking to me, but again to this thing.
Checking you out. 8:20 what is she doing now?
@@deepdivedelight😅8:20 she was giving me the absolute stink eye saying “seriously??? I think we should go to shore like NOW!!!” 😅
@@WhiteSpotPirates :) oh OK, this is what she was spotting, lol
Well done! I spent 3 months in there and loved it. Some beautiful shells to be found on the ocean side beach. I look forward to your next video
ah really? Not many people go there. It`s a wonderful place. When were you there? I think it was one of the hardest places to say goodbye to....

thx!
Tense moments then tranquility. Hopefully greatly improves your skills, knowing still some have tension then shipwreck.

Beautiful 🙏🏽❤️
Very good Video and you are looking very beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤
thx Timmy
Well, that was quite a nail-biter...and you anchored next to a volcano! What could possibly go wrong?
😁 right? that`s what I thought...
Thank you! Maria (SailJoana) will come there too?
Nope. She went straight to Mexico from Costa Rica.
Sweet .
The insides of your legs were tested...Merry Christmas...Good luck.

Your a beautiful lady an I love you so much.
Tie the lines. Unwind a bit. Business trip to Germany. Catch up when you get back.
business trip sounds so serious ;). I had to do some stuff for In Mocean back home. But yes, feels good to tie up the lines from time to time :)

Yeah, we aren't going in there. Not with an electric engine.
yeah, I was wondering about that ;). This entrance is not as bad as Bahía del Sol.....I have seen much worse from there.
