Ahoy everyone!
My name is Nike and I have been living and sailing on my sailboat Karl since 2013. After a massive refit marathon, I finally cast off the lines and learnt to solo sail my 37-foot Reinke Super 10 that I called "Karl". I am publishing videos (at the moment every two weeks) about the ups and downs of living, repairing and sailing my boat.
Since January 2022, I have a new permanent crew member: my furry friend Boga. When I started out, I did not know much about boat repair or solo sailing. Since I am still out there, I hope that my story inspires others, to chase their dreams, even if they might think they are not cut out for it. There is always a way, so I'll see you out there!

being on the move sure does feel great! Costa Rica was a bit hard at times with the rolly anchorages...but the beauty of the country made up for it - most of the time ;)

Totall love Brothers Make, they are a huge inspiration. We don`t work so much with Plastic Bags , more with hard plastic HDPE and PP but they have at ton of great videos on that, too!
...and I have not really been gone, I just don`t find enough time lately to edit. I am shooting for bi-weekly videos but this last month, we have been on the road giving recycling workshops and there was just not enough time to make videos. But the next kne is in the making so should be out there soon-ish :)

Heyaaa! 😅 I have had these a loooong long time. Had them delivered to my parents’ place actually and took them with me one time when I was visiting home ☺️. But you CAN get stuff delivered in many parts of the world. It’s mostly a matter of money 😁

Noticed your foot curling around the cockpit seats so guess that is fully healed.
Yes, it’s for sure healed by now. The injury was in 2019 ☺️. There is still some “aftermath” to deal with, but looks like that will be a permanent. Just not able to lift / carry much weight anymore nor walk / stand for hours on end. But who wants to do those things anyhow 🤷🏼♀️😂.

She never really got seasick, it’s more the heat and being thrown around 😂. It helps her to be squeezed tight into a spot where she does not move so much. She loves to lounge next to me all tucked in between the cockpit wall and my body so it keeps her steady.

Los marineros (Quiza no tan grande pero creo q se refiere a edad y sabidura) los llamamos “Seebären” q es “oso Del Mar” ☺️ pero no hay un animal aquivalente q se llama asi como los lobos Del Mar.

Gassi gehen ist natürlich nicht drin. Ich selbst gehe ja auch nie an Land sondern bin immer nur auf dem Boot ☺️😜
Aber mal im Ernst: Gassi gehen ist ziemlich ähnlich wie bei Leuten, die in einem Haus an Land wohnen. Wenn ich tagsüber im “Home Office” arbeitete, dann gehe ich Morgens und abends mit ihr spazieren, manchmal mittags eine kurze Schwimmpause. Wenn ich nicht arbeite, dann sind wir oft den ganzen Tag an Land und sind auf Entdeckungstour oder irgendwo, wo sie rumlaufen kann. Sie kann fast überall frei rum laufen und hat eine Menge Hundefreunde, mit denen sie rum tollen kann. Meiner Meinung nach bekommt sie eine gute Portion Auslauf inklusive Interaktion mit Artgenossen und Schwimmen.
Klar, wenn wir mal 2-3 Tage am Stück segeln, dann hat sie keinen Auslauf. Wir spielen und kuscheln dann viel. Aber das ist ja nicht ständig sondern eher die Ausnahme.
Ich denke, alles in allem ist sie ein gesunder und glücklicher Hund.
