Share some use cases of how you are making use of IR/RF blaster!
Are you on telegram
Hi Alex, are there any solution for Bluetooth remote ? I recently got a Xiaomi standing fan (smartmi fan 3) the remote uses Bluetooth. The Xiaomi app currently doesn’t support controlling of the switch in Singapore region. The only possible way I can think off now is to use a switchbot to control the switch on the fan.
@@Shubham-uc8ku no I'm not
@@alvinng9375 china region as well? ya probably switchbot, i don't have other solution in mind
Alex I am looking to control infrared devices with smartthings app automations , is switchbot mini hub can be used ?
Thank you Alex for the explanation. I remember asking you about this IR blaster stuff prior before this video and now I got a more clearer picture to learn how to integrate them!! Can’t wait to get my hands on them!!
oh, i hope i answered your questions about it
Great vid! Thanks for the clear explanation as always :) I'm keen to start my smart home transformation after seeing how you've made it practical and useful
Thanks for the video! Made me realise how much the smartbot can make my life simpler. The routines look very useful for combining devices together such as turning off the whole room.
awesome video! i really like how clear you are - it did seem a little difficult to set up the blasters at first but it made sense in the end! love your content - cant wait to see more
Do keep the good content coming. Researched more about SwitchBot after watching your videos, definitely a brilliant method to turn non-smart fixtures/devices smart!!
Thank you so much for producing such informative smart home videos week after week. Proud to see u being featured by property guru!
wah thanks for your support too!
Definitely would love to get my hands on the switchbot. I am currently planning on making my resale home smart with Google Assistant, but it is truly not a n easy feat. Your content has been a great help!
Just stumbled upon your videos. Thank you for doing these detailed videos. Inspired to now make ours a smart home. 😊
Awesome, now I need to start work on my smart home solutions! Thanks for the tips!
Perfect device to get rid of the 5 remotes I have for my TV console setup! Good luck to all! Thank you for these videos to help the layman understand how to setup a smart home using affordable devices!

love the content sir! I recently just started with all the smart home thing, and I like how every time I show it to my grandma, she's just in awe HAHAHAHAHA
hahaha... i hope she can appreciate these home tech!
Thanks for sharing! I am using the Broadlink RM Pro mainly for my bedtime routines. With the SwitchBot, I will be able to automate even more!
niceeee, I'm sure there is more to implement!
Thanks for the informative video. I'm partly on Google Home, so your recommendations are relevant for me. Appreciate your sharing!
Of course still interested to get hold of the SwitchBot products via this giveaway! Super close to completing the reno for my new house so this will be extemely helpful in making it smarter :) Thanks for the useful and easy to understand content as always!

happy to hear that!
Thank you again for your video! Been using a few tips and tricks shared by you to turn my gf room smarter since her house just got renovated, would love to make use of the hub mini to integrate all her entertainment systems into one and the switchbot bot can be use at one particular switch that is a hassle to get to.
Keep doing what you’re doing, I’ve watched every single video so far 🙏🏼 and will continue to integrate smart home features for my place as well
That is awesome and thanks for taking time to watch my videos!
cool, thanks for sharing Alex! definitely aspire to automate my home like yours
This is how my dream home will be like 😍 thanks for sharing, this has been so helpful!!
build your dream home!
I'm moving into a new home soon and did not think of making it smart because I thought it would be too pricey. I love that SwitchBot is an affordable solution that is able to use existing appliances. What a smart company making smart products! I'd love to be able to win the giveaway please :).
thank you for the video! the switchbots will be a nice addition to my home! been trying to build my own smart home, and your videos has been very helpful! thank you so much!!
thank you for your comment too!
Moving to my own place soon and I wish to make it a smart home just like yours, Alex! So excited to get started and I hope to win the SwitchBot!
I just bought a broadlink universal remote 2 weeks ago for my tv and humidifier. I wish i saw this video before i bought it so i could've used your affiliate link. great video
oh mannn... wasted haha
I will love to have the Switchbot devices as part of my smarthome! :) thanks Alex for being so generous with your knowledge.
No problem! Don't understand why some people like to hang on to some knowledge so dearly, just share!
thank you for always uploading such informative smart home videos! i’m trying to build my own smart room (bc im still a student and staying with my parents) your videos have been very helpful especially since you are based in singapore so its much more easy to apply to my own room! the switchbots and remote will be a nice addition for me but if not keep doing what you are doing!! hoping to learn more in your future videos! thank you!! :)
yeah I have planning to do a video like how to makeover a room with 5 smart home tech!
@@AlexTeo omg yes please!! that will be great, looking forward to it :)
Thanks for sharing alex! this has been helpful!
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Thank you so much i learned alot and will implement some ideas to my new bto home :) the switchbot would be a good addition to my new place😃
nice! all the best!
Great tips for first time home owners to plan for smart home. Thank u! ☺️
glad it helps!
I have started doing some home automation as well by combining 2 RM Pro to control ceiling fans and air cons, a ConBee II with deConz to manage some Aqara temperature sensors, Philips Hue, and Gledopto lights and a raspberry pi running Home Assistant to combine everything together. So far, all good!
Great videos Alex!
Sounds like a very nice setup you got there!
@@AlexTeo thanks! It works quite well. Very happy with Home Assistant and all the integrations it has. It requires a bit more work to setup but once is up and running, it’s pretty amazing. Totally worth looking into it.
Lucky I found your channel as i will be able to look Closely to your reviews and get the same products here in SG
@@rpenatez yeah, those brands of products that you have might not be worth getting in SG considering the shipping fees. I will definitely try out home assistant during my spare time!
Nice apartment! Thank you for the tutorial!
Awesome guide! Clear tutorial as always 👍
glad it helps!
Your vids have been very informative as always. Hope to get the switchbot for my new bto. Cheers!
thanks glad the vids helped!
Love to have this SwitchBot for my upcoming bto!
Really learning a lot from all your videos! Thank you for making them! I am interested in the SwitchBot Giveaway too!
thanks bryan, for always watching my vid
Thanks for the video, Alex! Love the humour. Keep it up!
haha.. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing such videos that are so informative! Really great for my almost can collect key delayed BTO. Definitely interested in the switch bot!!
can consider implementing that for your new house!
@@AlexTeo most likely will!! 😊
Hi Alex! Great video on providing explanation and demonstration on the usage of the product!
however, I wish to ask few questions.
1) can a switch bot be programed of certain scheduling? e.g To turn on Heater at 6am everyday and off at 10pm?
2) Can a Switchbot be programed to an AC? Do we have the ability to Switch on the appliance remotely when we are not at home?
Hope to hear for you soon!
Thanks!
Thanks for the share of your own home setups! I'm recently exploring home automation as well, and I came across a project called homebridge, which can connect all the google eco-system devices(switch bots, broadlinks, etc.) into apple's homekit. This way you don't have to worry about the eco-system. I haven't tried it myself, but it seems like a good solution.
ya if you are an apple homekit user, homebridge is the platform to connect products that doesn't have native integration. You won't be able to connect 'all', but better than nothing
Wife not familiar with tv remote controls (always making me do all the work) so hopefully these devices can make my(our) lives easier!
P.s TV on/off button is faulty too!
My house is currently under renovation and your videos are helpful. Too many hubs and switches out there to know which can work..
yeah man, that's the problem with all these smart home stuff, lack of info in sg and also sg is generally slow in adopting new tech
I dont know if this happened to you before but my wife and I have the same fan remote as you and we have a fan in our room but the remote is always "missing" and it's always so troublesome to look for it in the dark. not even kidding! this will come in handy for both of us!
😂 🤣 2 forgetful people
I got my husband a switchbot for valentine's day after watching your previous video so that he can restart his computer remotely. He wasn't expecting a gift so that was a successful surprise! What would really make our day (especially his) if we could win this set of giveaway! Hopefully no more getting up to switch off the lights before bedtime :)
practical gifts for vday! good stuff
I just got my bto and will be starting my reno next week! Have always wanted a smart home system cos I’m super lazy 😂
On a side note, I’m a tech idiot and absolutely have no clue about smart home system. Your video has allowed me to have a better understanding and not get scammed like what I always encounter 😭
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 in hope to win the giveaway! Thank you in advance!
oh man.. got scammed?!?! 😱😱 can ask friends or something for help next time
hope your reno go smoothly!
Informative and helpful 😇
Thank for making this video! Definitely will make my quest to smart home easier..Hope to win the switch bot hub to use in my coming new house which im moving in this year :)
Great content! Keep up the good work. Fingers crossed for the giveaway
Thank you for another smart home videos. To a totally non tech person, you explained it clearly for understanding! Hope to win the switch bot hub here to use in my coming new house.
yup that's my objective, bringing home tech to everybody :)
Nice video! Would absolutely love a Switchbot! I have a «dumb» light in my kitchen that is not possible to make smart, so a little robot attached to the switch would be perfect!
planning my new hse renovation...still bit blur on what and how to start. but ur videos help give me some ideas...but still tryin to draw up the eco-system. cheers.
its ok, i took quite some time to research myself as well haa
As usual, thank you for you informative video! :)
thx thx 👍👍👍
I've been watching your videos for a while now, and it has inspired me to set up a smart home for ourselves too! My partner and I look forward to your videos every week as we have also just got our own home.
I would love to win these SwitchBot devices to automatically control my A/C, TV and laundry rack system :D
oh wow! thank God i found this video... i assumed i couldnt achieve smart home because my fan is RF and my ac is IR
haha not many brands can do RF
Great video mate! Ur videos have given me so many ideas for my smart home journey! Keep at it! Winning the switchbot giveaway would make a great addition to my new place ;)
thanks for the support man!
switchbot switchbot, keep the set up clean & tidy :D
Thanks for the very informative video ! These really help home owners uplift their quality of living. Hope to win the smartbot and get started on my smart home journey!
Wow! The switchbot will be the way to my wife’s heart for our coming house (so that she doesn’t command me to do it anymore!) 💪 Huat ah
Thanks for sharing and listing potential redundancy. Btw, congrats being featured in property guru..
thx thx!
Love your content!! Always find myself planning on what to get before my house comes.
Would really like to win this to start off the automation journey before I even collect my keys!
yeah another good thing is you can definitely move these items easily to another house
I was just checking out the switchbot website yesterday and was so tempted to get the switchbot bot for the dumb light switches
go for it!
I bought 2 switchbot curtains after watching your previous video :D and they're wonderful! I have set up schedules for opening and closing and no longer need to be awoken by the morning sun, whilst still enjoying the breeze during the night. Now I would also love to set up schedules for my air con and fan, and eventually link everything on google home! I would LOVE to win the switchbot please!! Thank you!!!!
Niceee, then you should have the hub mini!
Another informative info for building smart home! Have been sharing it with my friends especially my partner. Ps: I literally laughed out loud whn u bring in Uncle Roger in this video 🤣😂 who says engineers are boring!
i thank you on behalf of all the engineers!! thanks for sharing! fuyohhh
Hope to be able to get the switchbot this time! I didn't know there's an added ir blaster function! Would be very good for me to automate my aircon on off with it!
yeah able to switch on/off aircon with google is quality of life lol
Very very informative!!!
thanks!
Thanks for sharing! Cant wait to try it all out for my BTO (esp if I win any giveaways!) :)
haha best of luck!
That’s a nice crib you got there
Hello! Not sure if I'm too late again, but I'd love to get this!! Thank you for the giveaway.
sorry too late :(
Eh nice la u making these videos, alot videos i find on youtube for smarthome devices apply for angmo country, all the components buy from amazon need few weeks shipping lead time. See ady oso tired, thanks for sharing.
yeah that's why I decided to make some videos on smart home in singapore context as what works what don't work is very region/country based
👍🍾🍾 Great info
..thanks
It's good to have a localized Smart Home guide for Malaysians as most of the videos on RUclips are centered around the US. Looking forward to more videos from you. Can you review some of the smart lights and smart switches available in our market as I'm planning to upgrade things in my home
yeah you are right, localized info is so important when it comes to smart home
Thanks for this! Very helpful indeed. Just wondering whether a smart switch is needed to on/off ceiling fan since a hub can also do the same?
Its up to u, u can just use an IR blaster or even just a smart switch. For eg my living room fan, i mainly control the on/off only, nothing else. If someone accidentally switch it off then your IR wont work
Hi Alex! I've been watching a lot of your videos to know more about linking up devices from different brands but am still quite lost😅. Not sure if I remember correctly, but I think you mentioned in one of your videos where you use a wireless remote (not sure Xiaomi/switchbot) to control your bedroom appliances e.g. curtain, aircon etc, through the switchbot hub. May I know how that is done? Really like your videos!
I want it to make my home smart
And these products are cool
👍👍👍
Still very interested, i think Switchbot is one of the most versatile/easy to retrofit smart home ecosystems out there. Hope I'll be able to get my hands on one this time!
yeah they are, can consider getting it if didn't win the giveaway :)
love to have a try at them. =D
Hi Alex, I have IR remote ceiling lights, a/c, tv and cable tv remote. What will you recommend that's affordable to get started?
Excellent content.
Much appreciated!
Thank you for the always so informative and enriching knowledge sharing about smart homes! I would love to be the winner for the smartbot to be one step closer to building my smart home!
thank you for taking the time to watch the video too!
Great vid. Subscribed
Thx for the sub
Nice sharing. I wish to get your advice -->My kitchen (open concept) and living room has 1 AC each, I consider my kitchen and living room as same space. If I use this IR blaster, I will end up always turn on both ACs, am I right?
Great content as always! Very informative and can't wait for more recommendation from you! Definitely want to win the switchbot as it's so damn useful turn your house into a smart home.
thanks for the support!
The laundry routine is really cool! Hope to win the giveaway so that I can switch off my fan remotely so to save energy and go green and go smart!
haha nice comment!
Great sharing once again! Can I ask how do you set the routine to set the laundry rack to decline? I tried setting it by adding the customize voice command on google home but it doesn’t recognize
create your own custom routine, then add in the scene which you have created inside broadlink
Amazing video. Always good to learn something from your vlog. I have input a few tips from you in my smart home too. Will be very happy to win the giveaway. ;)
Sounds great!
Thank you so much for the explanation! May i know is it possible to create my own application to connect the zigbee technology?
yeah why not, that's how so many small smart home companies do it. Some reskin from the smart life app which I think might have ready made api for people to use
Thank for sharing
thx for the sub!
Thank soo much Alex again for the amazing video for Smart home devices. Always learning something new in each of ur new videos.
Im still interested in getting the switchbot giveaway as it would really really help me bcoz i just got my nest mini. It would really help me alot to kickstart my smart home system as the hub mini IR feature would help me control my tv and aircon perfectly :) Really hope i win this!
As always, looking forward to yr next video. Take care & stay safe 👍🏽
thanks for the comment and you too stay safe!
This will be my next project haha! Thanks for the informative video as always.. Just curious, you mentioned you have a Lumos projector, are they worth getting?
hmm they wanted to sponsor me for a video review but I decided to send the unit back to them, what do you think haa
Will use automation on my fan, and TV IR/RF.. too many of these controllers lying around and have to switch here and there for eg. (TV, starhub / singtel TV box)..
All these can become one and controlled by my phone would be great!
yeah you could probably run a scene or use voice to just switch on everything 1 shot
hi alex love your video especially on smart home stuff, its been super helpful!! i have an ir blaster at home to control my tv and aircon sadly my air purifier doesnt have a remote so i was hoping the switchbots can control them! planning to get an rf blaster soon to control my ceiling fan sadly i didnt know there was different between ir and rf remote when i got my ir blaster! ): hoping to win the giveaway to upgrade my home a little more! thank you so much :)
hmm.. not sure whether smart plug can work for your air purifier. Happy to hear that you like the smart home videos, thought they usually get lesser view counts haha
bro are we able to use use the aqara switch as a trigger to trgger a series of action? i have a ceiling fan that does not turn on until i use the remote. im thinking of just click the aqara switch then it will base on broadlink rf blaster to turn on fan and oscillation. but i cant seems to do it.
thanks for the information. would like to have the SwitchBot
sorry giveaway over, next time!
Thank you for your generous sharing as always! Hope to win the giveaway! Thank you!
Good luck!
Thanks Alex, your videos are great. I'm new to the whole smarthome / hub world. Watched your smart hub video. Is the understanding that there can be 1 single app (smart things hub) platform to control with the aid of a hub (like smart things)? What is the diff with switchbot vs smartthings vs etc? What is the best user friendly all in one setup?
switchbot is just another smart home device provider, while smartThings is a central smart home solution. Both apple homekit and amazon alexa are good
Which broadlink RM should I get? the pro or not. I am thinking of connecting the remotes for my smart blinds and fans and lights and the air-con. Any idea if PRISM+ TVs can be added to broadlink? Thanks in advance!!
it depends on your requirements, the broadlink should work fine with prism TV, don't forsee any issues
It looks so cool but it sounds complicated. I have learnt alot thank you. Hope i win this time. Haha
loving all your smart home videos its been so informative and helpful esp to people living in singapore! hoping i win the giveaway and get the switchbots to make my air purifier and switches “smarter” as i cant change the wiring at home! wanted to enter for your curtain bot giveaway too but sadly i’m using the track kind ): but hopefully i can save up to get them myself!! keep up the good work love your videos!!
thanks for the comment and support too!
Hi Alex, fun question!
I'm thinking of getting a Broadlink RM Pro 4. Would I be able to use the RF to replace my Yale smart lock remote?
hmm not sure better check with broadlink official support
Hi Alex, thanks for sharing great content 👍🏻. I have being using the broadlink IR/RF to control my air con and fan. Especially now when the weather is hot, I’m able to “cool down” my room remotely before I even get home. Would love to be able to win the switch bot to control the lighting switch in my room as I’m unable to change to a smart switch due to the existing wiring. Thank you !
yeah man, why the weather so hot nowadays
Hi Alex, just wondering if broadlink rm4 pro can integrate with smart things. My new home will only be having a few smart switches, sensors and the remote.
No it can't, you can use alexa or if you have ifttt can do automation there
