I kind of hate to admit it but this game is unironically the best Pokémon fangame I've ever played as well as one of the best games I've ever played in general. So I guess it's kind of a guilty pleasure for me.

I’ve heard about the Grass one probably being the best one, but what else? Personally, I want to try Mozzamazel and Cannonace, though that would probably mean using Trick Room strategies.

I'd say try out some held items, especially super effective weakening berries. Those and a Sitrus Berry can make the difference. Try to see what moves your opponent has and keep a mon alive that can tank all their moves. The frog Pokemon has Ice Beam for example, so you want to keep your Ground type for something else.
That's because they want to be fair and really challenge you to a fair leveled fight against major enemies, although if you have tons of patience you can bypass that cap

On my first playthrough, Brock's last line before the fight starts caught me so off guard I couldn't breathe.

Pokemon Clover has a soft level cap. You can't go above a certain level before you defeat the next big boss fight
So you don't over lvl and sweep everything,
