I love versions of songs that keep the original's DNA while changing everything else. Well done!
I know all these guys from the Archer in Jersey City over the past few years, especially Sam, Ellery, and Jason. Great players all covering an inspired version of the Rickie Nelson classic,. The sweet sounding change to the IV toward the end of each chorus actually seems to improve the song.
Anyone know how to get in touch with them?
Hi! You can contact us at brooklynbluegrasscollective@gmail.com
Ricky would love this! Half a century later this song is more alive than ever!
Well done! I'm forwarding this to my sister-- who happens to be named Mary Lou! 🤠👍
Some dang good pickin' goin' on there. The harmony was great. You boys need to get some sun which probably ain't easy in Brooklyn.
Here’s a compliment from a North Carolina hillbilly to a fine group of fellow pickers who obviously share my love of Monroe’s legacy. Pick on, friends!
This hillbilly from Tennessee shares their love of Ricky Nelson’s legacy.
I agree
Nice! Although there is a slight difference in chords (chorus) compared to the original with Ricky Nelson. NIce harmony singin´.
Heck of a version! Wondering if folks know if the fiddle is in standard tuning or is it perhaps something else? I am trying to copy those double stops but I can't quite get the sound right.
Heck Yeah!! From Brooklyn at that... I remember when another certain group of fellas were making grooves from the same nape of the neck. They too were "live on the spot!"
Can’t ever listen to bluegrass and not smile and giggle like a silly little thing

J’aime.
My favorite is the statler brothers, but this is the 2nd best I've heard. The others are all too slow, IMO
I kept waiting for the bass voice of Harry Reid!
