This is weird, im Scottish as well and live in the USA, I have ordered the same greenhouse but the 6x10ft version, is this greenhouse built for Scots? lol
Greetings from Ireland. Excellent easy to follow video! Just bought 6 x 6 Harmony Palram greenhouse today. I will ge erecting it on soil.....will it be possible to get a secure foundation on soil? Bear in mind I live way down south,in Cork city, where we get frequent storms! I do have strong garden wire with which greenhouse could be secured
Thank you it was helpfull ! I watched your previous video on how to build a base to your greenhouse cause that's the method i wanted to use and i didn't realised i bought the exact same greenhouse ( in green) so watching this video i thought ''well it looks familiar'' 😅
Hi Kyle! Thanks so much for this video and the base video. I have a Canopia Palram on the way and need to get a base down this week :) I would love to see some videos of your greenhouse in use.
Thanks a lot for your video. I tried two times but the rain or windy day mess up my greenhouse instalation. I will wait for a sunny day, but your video has help me to understand the assembly logic.
why are u using a leveler for every side part ur installing? the holes are pre-drilled and it will stay steady after all the parts are installed correct?
This was helpful, thank you. Mine is only 82#. Our patio is not level because there is a drain for rainwater (Houston, Tx) plus we are in hurricane alley. I am concerned how to securely anchor it. We are going to use pallets anchored together with ratcheting straps (which should multiply the weight) and screw the green house base to that. How we anchor the pallets to the concrete is the conundrum. Because even if the weight triples or quadruples, I am afraid winds will move, lift or flip it without an anchor.
I had my doubts if I, a single woman, could do a greenhouse kit. Your vid convinced me that I can! Would you recommend I put door together first to make sure it'll fit door opening? That's what I'm nervous about.. I'd get to point to hang door and it won't fit. I see you used a level. If it's square and level the door SHOULD fit.
The door design means it's square without too much effort. Following the manual in order is the best advise I can give. Good luck, hope it turns out well
This is excellent mate. I watched your previous one on making the base and I hope to up-cycle an old greenhouse that I got for free of Facebook marketplace. Keep up the good work. I will wait for the cold season to go before attempting this new project though ☺️
Thank you for this superb video, it's very appreciated! Do you feel this greenhouse could withstand harsh winters? We can get strong winds and up to 2 feet of snow (during one snowfall) and -40C/F at times here in Alberta, Canada. Thank you.
I think so. We had about a foot of snow on the roof for a few days during the last winter and it caused no damage. -12C is about as cold as it got so not as cold as for you but we also get 80mph gusts of wind quite often and it holds up fine
@Kyle Do you have a video of making the concrete pad shown in this video? I did budget for a 4" concrete pad but wondering if what you did would suffice and the cost difference. thanks
Great video. I'm just wondering about the door, is there a latch or something to keep the door open? And can you tell me the actual measurements, I know my experience they say 6×8 but then it could be a inch or two over. Cheers.
Mine has a different base totally. Its made up of several segments that connect together. It is configured so they can use the same parts for different foot prints. Its going together well. Getting the pins into the side and roof beam joints is a bitch.
HI Kyle I have bought this exact greenhouses but the opening window seems to just sit at the top on a ledge and no hinges so just keeps falling out when you open it etc any advice appreciated.
Hi, Kyle. Great video. Thanks. I plan to reinforce mine against strong winds with suggestions I've picked up. I have a problem however, I wonder if you or one of your commentors/followers can help me. I ordered a similar 6' x 8' Polycarbonate greenhouse kit and I separated the hardware from the panels and frame for safe-keeping. Now I can't find the pieces. I suspect someone threw them out in a cleaning blitz. Do you or anyone know where I can get a full hardware pkg. (eps. the hinges)? I ask this on here because growing season is coming on fast. Thanks
Hi I am wondering after a year how is the greenhouse coping and anything I need to know about before buying one. I have heard the the panels can make noise when windy is this true Best Regards
After a year I'm very glad I went got the plastic panel version. Theyve been hit lots with tree branches etc and no damage done. I've never noticed much noise when windy from outside. Maybe slightly noisy inside but nothing that bothers me too much. The panels aren't as thick as glass so don't hold as much heat but at least I don't have breakages to deal with
Could you build this without the side panels? I have to find an open greenhouse type roof to go over my nectarine tree. I was wondering if maybe the frame would work without the side polycarbonate just the framework and then the full roof?
Hi Kyle, Thank you +++for this really helpful video- I have watched it many times and it meant we have built our Palram relatively effortlessly. Please can I ask do you have any problem with the door tending to not fully close at the top even when the magnet on the bottom is engaged with the base? My husband has solved it for now with a large metal paper clip which is doing the job brilliantly but I wonder if anyone else has a similar issue
Mine only has the magnet for holding the door open and haven't had any trouble with it closing completely. When the handle is closed it is flush all the way round
@3:18 or so you are putting up the door frame but you have already assembled parts 7311 & 8378 using the 4045 screws. Did you simply drill the screws through at the indentations? This seems incredibly hard.
Great video! I would be interested to know how stable the greenhouse is after 2 years? How does it withstand storms? You have a fairly high fence in front of it, is it 1.8m high or higher? Thank you and keep having fun.
Hi. Just tried putting mine together. I built the base then tried putting the plastic black things that I think support the windows (number 328) into the base frame but every one has snapped going in. Did you have this issue?
Thanks for the video Kyle. FYI, the link to your previous video seems to be linking to this one instead! Thought I was going a little loopy for a minute there...
Hiya I've been looking at this greenhouse for my garden but I can't make my mind up if I should get glass or this one the polycarbonate glazing looks very flimsy, may I ask how your finding it , thanks
It does seem flimsy at first but it does a fantastic job of heating up. I later added a self opening window mechanism since it gets too hot with moderate amounts of sun if closed up. Overall I've been very happy with the build quality.
My door opens the same direction as yours. But the screw isn't long enough if using 7083 and 7085 on the inside of the door, and 7084 and 7086 on the outside front of the door. At the moment, I left off part 7086 on the outside and the screw was long enough. With 7086 the gap between the outside and inside is too much. I am clearly doing something wrong (since you got it to work). Although the door will stay closed now, it would be great to figure this out.
Hi Kyle, I noticed even in fast motion you had trouble fitting the bracket for the door handle. I am almost at the end of my build and it looks like a small hole on each poly panel is required to fit that bracket as it has a 10mm shaft. Could you let me know? Thanks
It was tricky, I didn't need to make any holes but make sure you slide the panels fully to the top and bottom of the door and there will be just enough gap for the bracket to fit through.
I Liked youre Responce to that to cool to funny too HOT 2 CUTE 2 many cute SHIT going on TOO CUTE Im trying to build A 6x 8 greenhouse anyway Kathy thank you for letting me Vent
Very few tools. I think it was a 10mm spanner for all the fixings and a drill to fix the base down. Some of the clips at the bottom of the panes were a bit tight so a pair of pliers would also be useful
I just recently purchased on and had a question for you. Why did you put pavers all throughout the greenhouse? Wouldn't it be better to leave the inside open so it could breath a little better? Thanks for the video!
I have never drilled screws into cement. Did you predrill the holes? What is your max wind speed in your area and have the pavers with cement been enough to hold? Did you add any glue to the panels?
We get 80mph gusts occasionally but the corner where I have it is fairly sheltered. The issue I have is with flying sticks etc when it's stormy. So far they've bounced off the top and caused no damage. The base is as solid as when it went down. No movement that I can see. I predrilled the holes with a masonry drill bit then the screws drive straight in and hold really well. Link in the description to those I got. No glue needed either for the panels. They slot in and stay fixed. I would need to take the frame apart to get them out
Thank you so much for your quick response! I just bought one of these yesterday and it was so helpful to see the sequence of how you put it together! Plus was considering a more complex method for anchoring and seeing this paver/cement method put me at ease! If you don’t mind I have two more questions: have you found you needed to adhere the panels to keep in place from wind and help insulate? I saw you purchased the auto open mechanism for the vent. Is it just a button you push and it opens when you push the button or does it open when it senses certain conditions inside? (The latter sounds unlikely but I haven’t found any info about this yet). Thanks!
No adhesive needed. They stay in place really well. The auto window opener opens the window automatically when it gets too hot inside. You can adjust the temperature it works at. Mine is about 22 degrees and it opens.
Has your shed moved at all with the shifting of the ground? I'm thinking about doing a base vs putting my shed on a peer and beam system w/out concrete. What do you advise? Thanks!
I have a greenhouse on mine and no moving so far. The ground was already quite firm so I didn't need any kind of sub-base but a layer of hardcore is advised if you are concerned about movement
Is your greenhouse heavy? I was thinking about buying one to put in my garage, but I’m worried I won’t have enough space to build it inside the garage and will have to build it outside and move it into the garage
Great Video Kyle! I have a few questions now that it has been up about 1.5 years. Do you think you could assemble it using a cordless drill-driver and a bit instead of a wrench, etc.? I have seen some people assemble their units and put them on like either a 4x4's or 2x6's or so and that gave a few more inches of height. Can you see where that might be an advantage for you or help with drainage, other options? These are just ideas I have seen and wondered how your experience could help those who might be planning this kind of project in the near future. Many thanks for good work....Mike
Hi Mike, yes definitely. In fact I've built two more greenhouses since then and used a drill with a 10mm socket bit. Helped a lot. For one of them I did raise the height. Made a frame with some old pallet wood but 4x4s or something similar would work great.
Just ones from a local garden center so not sure the exact specifications. They are that size and I did actually crack one by applying too much pressure so had to cement the gap. Just go slow on the drilling and maybe use a smaller drill bit to start
my instructions state outside frame is 73"x 96.5" mine is 72" x 96" - anyone else have this issue? Also cheap plastic corner pieces make it near impossible to square the frame they flex when you put a measuring tape on them - i can pull the corners to make it any measurement i want.
Ours took easily 10 hours with 3-5 people 😱 but came out great. P.S pretty sure their was some alcohol on board as it was Thanksgiving weekend...CHEERS!
Yes I used two concrete screws in each corner (the base has predrilled holes) Just drilled a few holes with a masonry bit and screwed them directly into the slabs
I have a Palram Mythos greenhouse which is only half built, I am not able to build it on my own due to severe breathing difficulty with COPD and Emphysema, I had someone come to erect it for me but he found it too difficult so he has left me in the lurch, if anyone near ML8 has built one for themselves and could help me out with this I'd be very obliged, I wouldn't expect them to do it for nothing so if you can help, please feel free to message me and give me your price to get it finished, otherwise I might be just as well to break it down and scrap it.
Hello Kyle. Hope your greenhouse is better quality than mine. Its been a constant battle just to keep mine in one piece. Mine has survived several storms but its been a fight. Building in the summer everything looks good, then we move into Autumn and Winter and the storms arrive. This is what its like in a storm in my polycarbonate greenhouse: ruclips.net/video/Uj1Kl2Ppt30/видео.html
you have done the same mistaken as me the corner posts are wrong in your video they are 996 parts should be 9802 ones you have put in are for the roof they have locating holes the corner uprights have none ,be honest and tell the truth
Hi, I have one of these and have only done the base so far (bought kit Sept 2022). I have an instruction manual from the internet that mentions Part 9802 BUT the actual manual that came with the greenhouse itself does not mention this part number at all. On page 3 of the included manual it shows part 996 going at the four corners. It then uses the further four part 996s for the gable ends above the door and back of the house( pages 22-27).This manual lists a total of 8 part 996s being included in the kit. The mention of 9802 confused me and I initially thought I didn't have all the parts until I looked at the included, presumably most up to date, manual. Looking at other videos of Palram greenhouse construction the mechanism of some parts fitting together does appear to have changed over time.
@@susanstebbing4847 susan the four corner posts have no holes the nuts are retained in the groove there are only 4 9802s 996 parts with the holes are the 4 upright gable angles
@@davidredpath5922 I have just completed my build-it seems to have gone together correctly. As I said the manual with my Sept 2022 house makes no mention of parts 9802 anywhere. . The kit included eight parts 996 as listed in the included manual which are the four corner uprights and the four gable ends. I think Palram must have altered the kit
Hi Kyle, thanks for the video! In my model of 6 x 8 there is a small magnet contraption that is supposed to fit on the bottom of the door to help it stay closed. I cannot figure out how to affix it properly. I am wondering if is designed improperly or if I am missing something?
I purchased the Harmony , and what a load of rubbish nothing lined up , bits missing and the plastic panels were cut badly they would not fit so I had to cut them again to fit , Im stuck with it now waste of money.
When will people learn that the music is annoying af?? I turned the volume down but then I miss his occasional comments. Why is it so hard to make a silent video?
@@ADashofDIY The music wasn't that bad. A completely silent video is sure to lose the attention of more people. And, like the original commenter has already stated, they have the choice of muting it and to fix the problem of missing comments could easily turn closed captions on.

Hi Mike, yes definitely. In fact I've built two more greenhouses since then and used a drill with a 10mm socket bit. Helped a lot. For one of them I did raise the height. Made a frame with some old pallet wood but 4x4s or something similar would work great.
@@ADashofDIY Thanks buddy. Keep up the good gardening and projects. From Mike in Jackson, Tennessee, USA
How did you anchor it to the ground?
Frame fixing screws. They drive directly into the slabs through the holes already in the greenhouse base. See the link in the description for them
what flags did you use please because the ones i got just crack when drilling i got 450x450 32mm depth or am i doing something wrong
Just ones from a local garden center so not sure the exact specifications. They are that size and I did actually crack one by applying too much pressure so had to cement the gap. Just go slow on the drilling and maybe use a smaller drill bit to start
@@ADashofDIY thank you
my instructions state outside frame is 73"x 96.5" mine is 72" x 96" - anyone else have this issue? Also cheap plastic corner pieces make it near impossible to square the frame they flex when you put a measuring tape on them - i can pull the corners to make it any measurement i want.
Where you get those panels and poles, not the polycarbonate at?
It's all part of the Palram kit. Sorry not sure if you can buy just the frame on its own
How long of a build?
In total about 5 hours. Lots of steps but came with very clear instructions
Ours took easily 10 hours with 3-5 people 😱 but came out great. P.S pretty sure their was some alcohol on board as it was Thanksgiving weekend...CHEERS!
Hi Kyle its me again hahah did you use plugs for the screws or just screws please
Concrete screws, 7.5mm. No plugs needed. They cut into the concrete and grip really well
Hi Kyle! Great video, (and I didn't mind the music at all). Just wondering if you secured the greenhouse to the base. If yes, how did you do it
Yes I used two concrete screws in each corner (the base has predrilled holes) Just drilled a few holes with a masonry bit and screwed them directly into the slabs
Having a hard time finding a video that actually shows how to assemble the top triangle oieces above the door.
Did you find anything? We are stumped
😊
This is what its like in a storm in my polycarbonate greenhouse: ruclips.net/video/Uj1Kl2Ppt30/видео.html
heyy bro, i want blueprint of this build can you give me the blueprint?? please......
Skip the annoying music ! Just talk
you have done the same mistaken as me the corner posts are wrong in your video they are 996 parts should be 9802 ones you have put in are for the roof they have locating holes the corner uprights have none ,be honest and tell the truth
@@susanstebbing4847 if there are 8 996s thats ok fine mine had 4 of each
The hardest part of the build is above the door and you showed 0 steps to assembling it lol
The windy weather meant I had to do a few of the smaller bits inside, sorry.
Hi Kyle, thanks for the video! In my model of 6 x 8 there is a small magnet contraption that is supposed to fit on the bottom of the door to help it stay closed. I cannot figure out how to affix it properly. I am wondering if is designed improperly or if I am missing something?
The magnet is really to keep the door open when it swings back. So make sure its on the outside of the door. Hangs slightly below.
This is the bit I’m struggling with, the directions aren’t clear and it doesn’t seem to fit at all.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm still working on the best way to include music during my videos and will take note to review the volume for my next one.
@@ADashofDIY didn't mind the music muself
@@ADashofDIY The music wasn't that bad. A completely silent video is sure to lose the attention of more people. And, like the original commenter has already stated, they have the choice of muting it and to fix the problem of missing comments could easily turn closed captions on.
I agree .. great video thank-you, but the music was just too annoying. Perhaps use something a bit less intrusive.
Trying to improve on this for future videos
that is as good as useless. there is no way to follow that.
Thank you. I made one also. Can I turn or move a bit after I complete it?
How long did it take to build?
About 6 hours total over a couple of days since it got a bit windy at times
Thank you
