Please anyone reading this who is struggling please please find someone to talk to and get the help that is out there. Crazy how my life was so perfect, but I was still depressed and anxious. I truly feel like a king taking on all the forces while the worst thoughts run though my head. Im 28 now and still unmedicated. Graysons depression must of been 10x worse than mine... id say more of anxiety controls me, depression just keeps me humble and is temporary. I could never commit suicide because of my family and dog... Im a peice of s*** but I could already feel my mothers pain while my dad spends the rest of his years crying himself to sleep and suffering in silence. Deep deep down I know that I am very lucky to be a healthy guy, I can run, jump, always have food and water and have good genetics. Im literally perfect but there will always be this dark shroud over my head clouding my brain and preventing me from being the best version of myself.
How will I ever find a girlfriend if I hate myself...

Seems like his parents not buying that flight costed them.. one bad day of golf and being alone at a tournament without the 2 people that love you the most was probably very tough for him. Whats even harder for him is the fact his mom went through so much but still had a beautiful outlook on life... probably made him feel very guilty for being depressed in the situation he was in compared to his mother. I know I feel that guilt when I think of grandmother... how am i depressed when I have the perfect life and she is so happy when she had an awful and abusive childhood... Makes me feel even worse...

In some cases, not all, you can fight through it enough to still live a normal life. But most of the time I don't think it's all worth it. There could be a time one day where I just don't want to do it all anymore. It's why I personally won't get married or have kids, I can't do that to someone. It's best if you can just go without anyone being dependent on you.
RIP to this guy. The struggle can be terrifyingly real. Life isn't a gift for everyone.

Luckily I’ve never experienced prolonged periods of depression nor have I ever considered suicide and honestly haven’t been around someone that had felt that way until I worked with this beautiful Hispanic girl. She was beautiful, very athletic body and was single and every guy wanted her. Me being married and able to speak Spanish, she took to me and confided in me her problems with depression and suicidal thoughts. I was in complete shock but realized that it didn’t matter what she looked like on the outside because the demons inside her were destroying her reason for existence. I offered all the advice I could and listened to her carefully with the hope I could help her. I moved on due to a promotion but wondered about her through the years. Ten years later I ran into her and she was beaming with so much happiness. She told me she got the help she needed and had married and had a baby. It’s been 6 years now. I pray she’s still doing good.

Alcoholism and depression don’t discriminate between rich or poor, young or old, famous or ordinary……. I have experienced both with loved ones, my son is now seven years sober, unfortunately my ex wife’s depression ended our marriage. I don’t wish either experience on anyone. Mental health treatment is something we need to prioritize more and more in the future.

He sounds like me not that long ago, after abruptly losing my 20 yr career and everything, struggling to find work. Struggling with drinking. Eternally conflicted, but externally looks fine. Feeling like a burden to everyone. Just the fact he repeatedly mentions some permutation of _"not letting his parents down,"_ he likely *felt* he let everyone down, especially his parents. My mom didn't deal with the issues his mom did, but she sounds just as vocally supportive and a #1 cheerleader as mine. And my dad is the same age. The soul-tearing feeling of being at the end, thinking you let everyone down, is the closest I've felt to death. Replaying over and over your mistakes, and forgetting your triumphs. I'm starting to wonder if he was hung over again, and not "ill" as sited for his withdrawal. I get it, people say, _"it's a selfish way to relive your pain,"_ and _"permanent solution to a temporary problem."_ Most who say that have never been on razors edge, moments away from the end. And know how those moments feel.
This is horrible. 😞 I wish I could have a rewind button in life, go back and save him. I'd rewind back to 1994 to save my best friend who died the same way in HS, and relive the next 30 years JUST to save anyone else I could, including Grayson.

Gods got you now in His beautiful kingdom? Really? What’s your proof of that? I’m not trying to be insensitive to this case, obviously it’s heartbreaking, but what you said is so distorted from the biblical reality. The Bible doesn’t say that people go directly to heaven after death, it says that people are asleep and in a state of unconsciousness until Jesus returns the 2nd time around to reward either eternal life or eternal death. Also, life is a battle, a war, it’s a battle between the forces of good and evil, between Christ and Satan, we are commanded to fight till the end and not give up, suicide is not painted favorably in the Bible. Try to gain your perspective from the Bible which is the Word of God and not on what “we feel to be good or what we would like to believe” or what the common or popular world concept is, peace.

I read that he struggled with alcohol.. please if you're reading this and you already have struggles with anxiety and depression.. do not dig yourself deeper by using alcohol as a coping mechanism. It's not spoken about enough how terrible alcohol can be for people who are already struggling.. it's like digging yourself into a deeper and deeper hole the more you continue to drink.. and you have to keep filling that hole with more and more liquor to feel ok. I promise if you are a heavy drinker suffering with depression and anxiety, commit to no alcohol for 2 weeks and you will feel so much better. The first week or 2 will be rough though.

My son is moving away from me across the state. Not wanting to give any details but nothing I can do about it. For the first time in my life I am having suicidal thoughts. Only reason I’m still here is because of my son. It’s not about me. I’m not doing ok right now. Every day is different. It’s hard as a man to admit I’m not ok. I’m Superman to my son. I am lonely. I am sad. I have worked my ass off to give my son a life that I dreamed of as a little boy. Now since I don’t have any family to help, his mom and her parents decided to move back to Memphis. Which is a city I’ll never go back too. I don’t know what I’m trying to say or what my point is. But my mom is heaven. Maybe I should go be with her.

let him live & gather new experiences. i’d say being supportive for his decision is the best thing to do. I don’t know how old he is or why he moves away, but doing so takes courage, he seeks change, growth. encourage him on that and let him experience it without guilt.
im sure by giving him this space and energy you’ll deepen your bond in the long term.
the worst thing to do is try to enclose a bird in a cage. let it out, allow to discover itself and it’ll come back.
      you got this brother.
try to experience new things for yourself, life is hard but at the same time its beautiful. most
importantly don’t let your mind spiral you down, thats a vicious cycle and the real danger.

@@astudyofself he is almost 10. I have no family to help me or I’d have custody of him. His mom is a recovering addict. Her parents are rich and my son considers his grandmother more of a mother than his own mom. So he’s definitely blessed. Even if I had family to help, he’d pick his grandparents and his mom over me every time. And I understand. But I have worked so hard to give him the life I wanted. And his mom not only doesn’t work, but gets child support and has her parents. It’s like everything is against me. And Im not built to have a life without him. I really do appreciate your words. You don’t know how much this has me smile for the first time all day.

@@jamaljenkins9977 oh so he’s still very young.
i think most importantly try to let him be a kid and avoid creating too much ‘conflict’ or ‘toxicity’ within the family dynamics you got going on, to preserve his emotional development.
i come from a highly disfunctional family, grew up without a dad and my grandparents and mother were always in a toxic relationship so i always ‘tried’ to tiptoe in between which speaking of as today, I consider very unhealthy as you always try to be the mediator in between the parties, giving you anxiety and so much more bullshit, you’re always on alert.
i dont know the dynamics in your case, but maybe staying in touch with his grandparents and building that bond could be a good thing to stay in touch with him.
most importantly you know you did and are still doing the tight thing for your son, the universe recognizes that and so will you son, maybe not immediately but once his mind is able to comprehend the situation he will be proud of the strength, love and compassion his dad proved during tough times.

Is that something you say because “it feels good and brings you comfort and a sense of peace” or you say it because that’s the “right thing to say and since everyone says it you do as well”? I repeat what proof do you have? This is important to know don’t you think? Look into the Bible which is the only true and reliable source for this. It says that after death we become unconscious and are asleep until Jesus comes again, until then everyone will be rewarded either heaven or hell, not beforehand or at the moment of death. Plus, suicide is not painted in a favorable light in the Bible, we have to persevere to the very end with the help of God. Life is a battle, a war indeed, it can only be sustained by the Grace and Help of God through faith in Jesus. Peace
