Thanks kindly for sharing the nitty gritty, Big D! Doing research now for my future expediting adventure ...hitting the road in 2023 and can't hardly wait!
Got a Promaster myself for expediting. I like your bed idea. Simple and looks easy to build. I have a twin mattress on a steele frame in the van, but hate it. Thanks to your video, I can build a better support for my mattress. Thank u for this....
My math has a flaw I'm hoping you can explain. You said with a 30" bed you can still load 3 skids? I'm assuming 48" skids; that exceeds an extended Promaster's 159" (13') cargo space. Thanks in advance for clarification. Nicely done design, btw.
971mile load is one of those loads, if it gets u into a dead place, you get yourself out. For me, that's over $750. So I get maybe $675 and pay my own fuel out.
Hey BIG D!! Have you had any problems with your harmonic balancer? Well I did!! It came apart when I started the van up on day and it wiped out the Serpentine belt. Luckily I was only 2 miles from a repair shop. I drove it there and 2 hours later I was on the road. I think I'm going to to change mine out once a year or so myself. The mechanic said it must be common because the parts were readily available and not expensive. It cost me $432 that day to get it fixed. It was only like 10° out so I didn't fiddle with it. Heck I didn't even know what happened until they told me! LOL! Just giving you a heads up! Good video by the way. BEEP BEEP!!
@@expeditingwithbigd6527 Hey good morning! No symptoms. It started up, I heard the belt starting to screech, (it was cold out) but then I seen smoke and smelled rubber!! So I shut it off. Opened the hood, grabbed the belt and it pulled right out!! When the harmonic balancer came apart it must have caught on the belt and burnt it in half. I'm just glad I wasn't going down the road when it happened. Who knows what else it would have taken out!! It's on my maintenance list now with a new belt!!! My van has 490,000 miles on it and I don't know if it's ever been changed. Wade's van has similar miles and his was changed out. I'm not gonna take any chances. Hope this helps! BEEP BEEP!!
Expediting with Big D thank so much I ordered one and waiting to receive it , it’s really cold here in Ohio... now could you please advice me with a carrier keep me busy because that’s my first week expediting and I only get 2 short trips 550 miles and I have van payment my carrier really bad communication and good loads Thank you
This video has me considering leaving OTR and moving to expiditing. I'm already well aware of life on the road, but to have that much room and be able to pull into a shopping center or go to the movies vs. sitting in a truck stop during down time....equipment and repair cost are less,...really considering giving this a go. My truck is paid off in June so I still have some time to consider. I'm an owner-op leased to a carrier where I choose my own freight..run when I want and go home when I want. Is owner-op the same in the expidite world?
There are no size of the biggest between the wheel wells with a 1/2 inch boards in front will cover most anything on the inside of that is your space to build..skids out here come in all shapes and sizes lol
When the fork lift is pushing the first skid further in with the second skid, and the first and second skids in with the third, if the wheels are chalked, the pressure is against them and not the trans.
@@watcher2554 sorry I speak 6 languages and sometimes I twist things up a little he mentioned something about chalk tires helps prevent damage to the transmisdion

I considered that flooring style from Legend, but do crates damage it when a forklift pushes them in or drags them out?

Why you put a microwave blocking your view in the pasenger seat. Seems dangerous and unsafe. Seems it would be safer to put under your bed ?
Hey big D , what are you using for heating and where should I get it from can you please give me details
. Thank you
See the video on Chinese diesel heater 150.00 ebay 1 hour install

Hey how did you get the bed up like that? And is it easy to raise or lower it? I'm building a bed soon and only in a two skid transit

My question is really what is the widest skid that you loaded.

Thank you
Is your bed a twin bed?
I can see the reasoning of turning down the run to Savannah on Monday. Maybe take it on a Friday.
It's a tough call to make no matter when you make it
Great information..Thank you for the video..
Where can I buy etrack clips it's it online only?
Amazon and they are cheap
And how to chalk tires prevent ruining your transmission ??

@@watcher2554 ok like parking on a uphill or downhill you get that play when you put it in park
@@watcher2554 is the emergency brakes not enough to prevent that ?
@@armobyzantine5881 that's right. A wheel chalk just prevents that from happening.
👍
Why didn't you ask for more going to savannah
We get a high rate already it wasn't the price
