It's called a snail fish because it has no bones and is primarily cartilage and otherwise gelatinous, and do not have any type of air bladder. This allows it to withstand the immense pressures at great depths. At least that is my understanding. 🌈🌟 #TMYK
If that's the reason for there common name why not Slug-fish? I can see Slug-fish, the only reason for Snail-fish IMO would be if they had some type of shell like structure, or used shells in some way, Superficiality a Slug is a Snail without a mobile home, these fish don't have shell, use shell, so based on appearance Slug-fish makes more sense than Snail-fish. Tadpole-fish would suit them but that common name is taken by (Raniceps raninus).
At the end it looked like it was trying to examine the laser points as they moved. Have any of the life forms responded to those, or shown evidence that the lasers are actually visible to them?

They have bone but it flexible not hard and durable they bone will basically liquidfie when don't have that pressure
