- In today's video, I'm sharing how to use a Bissell Steamshot hard surface handheld steamer. I go through all the accessories included with the Bissell Steamshot, how to operate and use the Steamshot and run through demonstrations how each of the cleaning tool accessories work.
Disclaimer: Before using the Steamshot read all the manufacturers instructions and cautionary markings in the manual and on the Steamshot.

As a follow up to using the SteamShot on shower glass, I changed up my cleaning method. I blasted the shower glass with steam and used a scrubwow pad (abrasive pad but doesn't scratch glass or stainless steel) and scrubbed the glass. I did see a very slight improvement. I did see better improvement using the same method on my shower faucet with hard water stains. It did take a bit of elbow grease but a majority of the spots have been removed. It still isn't perfect but a lot better than before.
I use a magic eraser on my shower door. Try it out!
Can you show how to refill water? I find this very hard and dangerous to open and add water. Perhaps I'm doing smth wrong 😔 please help!
@@aleksk.5778 Before you refill, let the SteamShot cool for 5 minutes unplugged. I will press the trigger while unplugged to release any extra pressure. After 5 minutes you should be able to open the lid. Every time you refill the Steamshot you will need to follow these step to open the cap safely.
I coat mine in the blue toilet cleaner, leave it for 30 minutes and rinse them down, wipe in circles with a scrub daddy and rinse and buff with a microfiber towel. Crystal clear.
@@cnrblog2660 that stuff is a miracle worker.
I hate reading directions. Thank you very much for your clarity. I am a visual learner so this was tremendously helpful.
I am exactly the same way!! I hate to read and try to follow directions! Hahaha
Me too. And even if you need to go back and review, this is so helpful to understand what you're doing if you've never used one before. ❤
Haha me too I'm a visual learner 😅
Same here
Same here! I really appreciate people like her.
You hit every single point regarding everything about this steamer, which I just bought. I'm a very visual person who needs to SEE how things work, and you, lovely lady, sure accomplished that! Thank you SO much for your channel and all the time and effort you put into making this video for people, like me, who hate reading instruction booklets! 🙂
I’m so glad my video was helpful. Thank you so much for watching!
Can you tell me if you put fresh water in while it’s hot or let it cool first ?
@Niko-td7ok Distilled water recommended. Let sit 5 min to cool before opening top then reheat.
There is rub at the edge of the glass door, I am worry if the high temperature will damage the rub?
Being someone who is disabled and chronically ill and can't stand things messy buying this tool last spring has been a life saver for me. Prior to becoming unable to clean like I was used to I had no problem with getting things clean with a little elbow grease but now this tool has become one of the tools that make it possible on a "better day" to be able to get some cleaning done that I wouldn't be able to do otherwise simply because of my limitations. The model I have is a bit different and doesn't have the garment tool or squeegee tool but those are on my list of attachments to get in the future. I'm glad you opened up to showing us the inside of your oven as the place I moved into was actually way worse and this tool made such a huge difference in working on it. One extra tip for oven door glass and glass stovetops is to use this in combination with the razor scrapers to first soften the grease and grime build up and then use the razor to scrape the glass on an approximate 45° angle to have it come off in chunks. For those unfamiliar with the razors you can find them in the paint department of your local Walmart or home improvement store and they'll become another lifesaver for getting things clean.
I just recently bought this type steemer and I like it but you really showed how to use it...Thanks for a good job of explaining...
You're welcome. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching!
Does it always have to be plugged in for use? Just wondering for car detailing purposes
@@ladyt9000 It does have to be plugged in for use. The cord is 16' in length.
@@MesseswithMichelle thank you sincerely
I'm kind of embarrassed to say... I bought this cleaning tool months ago but haven't yet tried it. Thanks for this video! It's time for me to get steam cleaning today!😊
It is a pretty amazing steamer. I LOVE using it on my grout, night and day difference after using it. The steam shot is so handy. Happy steaming! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Lol you're not alone haha
I bought mine back in March and I haven't used it yet🤭 but definitely got motivated after watching this video
@@verech9867 same like me i brought this many months ago but i haven't yet tried it
Same
@@hahaygm1 Why would you buy things and not use them? I'm asking because I'm curious, no offense intended.
Thank you Michelle for your video. It’s always so much easier for me to to learn watching someone demonstrate then reading a manual. You’re a wonderful teacher.
I’m so happy my video was helpful! Thank you for watching!
FINALLY someone showing how to use the clothing steamer part!!!!!
When I try to use the clothed steam water leaks out the cloth. Ends up soaking the clothes
I come from a industrial setting, always worked in buildings with millions of.dollars in tools, started my own business out of my house recently. Looked up on RUclips on steam cleaners for cleaning around the house, this one has tons of good reviews. I ordered this one and tried using it on the dishwasher and oven today, it worked, but very slowly, had to wait for it to reheat and fill the water every ten minutes. I got spoiled using 18k dollar commercial steam cleaners, I couldn't even stand to use this machine it was so slow and tedious. I know home owners cant spend a bunch of money on items like this, but I'm defently gonna have to look into a larger more powerful model. I have other things to do besides clean a oven for 4 hours or grout for 2 days.
Thanks for your perspective. I suppose it's no surprise that $18000 buys you more tool than $30. FOR THE PRICE, these mini-steamers are surprisingly effective.
Check out Dupray Neat steam cleaner
Did you find a good steamer
@@sweeth3a4T I bought a hotsy 333 and modified it for steam. I paid about 1300. And then I bought a Northstar pressure washer steam cleaner for about 4500. Both work great for my uses.
A heads up for everyone who is looking to buy. I bought this few days back for grout. I've used the machine twice, filled tank twice and in this time the grout brush has literally melted away although it seemed very sturdy. Bissell people expect you to keep buying attachments which I'm not liking. Placing a $50 order everytime is not worth it.
I've purchased two of these. They work well ... obiviously since I purchased a 2nd steamshot. However, both of the Bissells failed in the trigger mechanism. Once is a fluke, twice tells me it is a design problem. Would be interested to know if others have had this problem.
The grout cleaning was incredible! I cleaned a rental unit where I swear the tenant never cleaned in the 10 years they occupied the house. The steam shot restored the moldy grout in the tub surround to white and blasted the floor tile. It was amazing. The brush, however, is dead. After 2 bathrooms, they are bent over and no longer stiff. Bissell sells them for $3 plus shipping.
My steamer manual warns about cold windows, saying that cold glass might crack. Does it mean that I can’t use the steamer in winter?
Impressive..! I appreciate the fact that you've read into the manual prior to your review, & included warnings as well as helpful tips in it. It makes it easier on the consumer, seems less biased, plus helps make a well-informed decision. Thank you so much for being thorough, but brief in highlighting the main points, keeping it short, and providing prior experience or know-how. As well as following up on your reviews with updates. I think you've raised the bar, and I'm sticking around. 👍
Thank you so much for your comment. I really appreciate the time you took to write one and so happy to hear my video was helpful and you enjoyed the review. I’m very happy to have you stick around 😀. Thank you for watching!
Excellent demo. Thank you for putting in the time to showcase all the features and different cleaning scenarios!
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.

This is so helpful and informative! Such a great video! 😊 I was considering buying one but wasn't sure until I could watch someone try it out and this has sold me on it
Me too purchasing now
We just purchased this. Your tutorial is well done with how each piece is used. Its a great way to learn how to use it.
Thank you for your great presentation. Your demonstration of every accessory was so thorough and clear that it left no questions for me. I also appreciate your not stretching out the video so that it makes the viewer impatient.
You're welcome! I'm glad my video was helpful. Thank you so much for watching :)
@@MesseswithMichelle I was looking forward to trying my Steamshot that my brother just gave me (his former girlfriend left it with him), but I can't get the cap off. I'm contacting Bissell tomorow.
Wow! This video was THE BEST!! you definitely inspired me to get moving with my steam shot 😂 thank you!
Oh hell I'm more convinced in buying this coz I see we can do clothes steaming 😍😍😍😍😍🥰 SOLD !
I have been looking into these steam cleaners today just to detail my car and the wife's car. Never thought about using them in the house too! Definitely going to have to get one now, thanks for the video!
You’re welcome! I really like the Steamshot because it can be used all around the house. It works wonders on tile grout.
When there is less water in the tool, the steam comes-out hotter, so I think one should not refill the tool until it is empty. When there is no water left, the orange light does not come on; so you know when the tool is empty.
Can you clean internal natural french stone walls. If so, which attachment is best. Or will another make be better.
no Bissell in India :( :(
BTW really liked the video, so informative, thanks!
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Excellent video. My wife bought it but never used it. I am going to start using it now. Thank you.
this video is informative AND satisfying --thanks! any plans on a review of a bissell steam *MOP*? my family is shopping around for a new product and I'm team steam and my dad is team crosswave. enjoyed your crosswave video too btw
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed the videos. I do not have any plans at this time for a steam mop review but can keep it in mind for a future video. Steam is perfect for hard floors and cleans really well and sanitizes. I love the fact you only need tap water for a steam mop and steam shot.
Oh I love my Bissell steam mop! It saved me so much time and my back! On vacuum wars he said he suggested the steam mop from Bissell and he tries all cleaning machines!
I like this steamer however it runs out of water so quick due to the small reservoir. Also, while steaming it constantly shuts off (orange light comes on) to gain power and build up steam. Think I need a commercial grade steamer instead. Also, no water level indicator as you mentioned
Thanks .. Good tutorial. I just bought mine ,so I can get the gross stuff out of the mrs cup holder in her car.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Cup holders seem to be the grossest area of the car...it will be satisfying to see the mess get blasted away with steam.
I always leave a napkin in the bottom of mine so I never have to worry about it. And I stuff every crevice with a micro towel to keep out all dust. So when it rains and my window / door gets wet on the inside I grab the towel & wipe, return to crevice. Quik wipe dusts and cleans.
Great video, thanks for demonstrating it in a real home situation! I’ve been bamboozled by all the different steam cleaners available when I look online and now know I want to get one of these, specifically designed for hard surfaces. Nearly got one designed more for upholstery with a hard surface nozzle attachment as a secondary feature - you’ve saved me from making a disappointing purchase. Thanks heaps!
You’re welcome! I’m so happy my video was helpful. The steamshot is handy to have around the house. I really like the grout attachment. Thanks for watching.
I bought it last summer and haven't started this until your video is a greatest guidance!!! Can't wait to start away especially gas stove top! Thank you!
👏 i didn't even know this existed In this size.. Buying ASAP
had the haahn version of this from more than 10 years ago when it was on a promotion sale in a mall... never stopped working since to my surprise... these things will last !!
Fantastic video! Thanks for putting in the time to do this. Just curious, can you use it on your bed/mattress? I am allergic to dustmites and wanted to use this to spot-sanitize the rug in my room, as well as my pillow and maybe my mattress. Would this be alright, or would the moisture collect in the mattress and potentially cause mold?
Thanks in advance!
Pain/scrapper idea was great. Never thought about using my steamer/scrapper for spot paint removing. Thank you.
You’re welcome. The scraper worked so well on the paint on the tile.
Thank you for this! I really appreciate you taking the time!
You’re welcome! 😀
I ordered mine from Amazon but sadly I did not get the deluxe model - I really want the extra accessories now 👌
Same! I’m thinking that I might return mine and get the Deluxe!
I am looking for a good solution to all the nooks and crannies of a sliding shower door. Would you recommend for that use? That is the main reason why we would buy it
Can you use it for mattresses or couch?
I just bought one yesterday and used the hell out of it!!!! Best thing I’ve ever bought!
How long does it work between refills? How long do you have to wait to refill while it cools? How long does it take to heat? Thanks
This message is to Belinda, I bought this tool and I guess I had higher expectations from something that had such high ratings! First of all I spent more time waiting on it to cool down so I can refill it than I got to clean with it. It’s very time consuming if you’re in “serious cleaning mode”! I was going to let my grand daughter use it but then realized that if a person isn’t aware of what “steam” means they can get hurt very easily! Mine seems to put out hot steam for about 4 blasts and then it’s more or less a vapor. It I shake it or turn almost upside down I might get a couple more blasts of steam then it’s mainly just a stream of warm water! I have used Bissell products for years but I am very disappointed in this particular one. I originally bought the “little green machine” that was about $110, I unpacked it, tried to use it on my office chair first and thankfully that was what I chose first because I could have sucked more with a straw than the machine did and the water never ever got past slightly warm. Over all I’m very disappointed in both Bissell products and wouldn’t recommend spending that much money on them. The only plus is it has nice attachments and the power cord is long. I’d keep shopping if I were you! You asked the important questions! Hope this helps!
How do you clean the brushes??
Need! I hate cleaning my gas stove, it’s endless.
Is the cleaner recommended for furniture cleaning as well ?
V helpful. Never heard grout pronounced "grote"
I am definitely going to buy the Bissell Steamshot based on your video. Excellent demos of the versatility of the streamshot and I will be using all of the accessories for everything I am planning to do during my Spring clean up! I have curtains to steam, dirt in the kitchen and bathroom grout to blast away and windows to clean. Looks so easy and not messy at all to get great results.
The Bissell Steam Shot is so handy. I just cleaned all the grout in my kitchen. I almost forgot my grout lines are cream there was so much dirt but the Steam Shot blasted all the dirt out.
@@MesseswithMichelle what about sofa and carpet ?
@@mysteriousworld4790 I haven't tested the Steamshot on soft surfaces only with the exception of the fabric attachment on my clothes.
@@MesseswithMichelle can I know that it will remove hard water stains on bathroom tiles
@@kollabathulalahari I find to remove hard water stains I have to apply steam and then use a scrubbing pad as well. It does take a bit of work depending how long the hard water stains have been on the surface.
Do you think this would be useful for cleaning messes on your carpet? Like if the mess was small and in a contained area?
After how long does it light up to start reheating again while inuse. Mine reheats every 6 7 seconds makes cleaning very impractical
Detailed and straightforward video. Liked it!!
It is rated as 1,000 watts, not 100 watts :)
I use distilled water in my bissell.
I just got one yesterday. It’s so satisfying to use! Thank you for your video!
You’re welcome! I agree, it is very satisfying to use and the best part is seeing what comes off your floor after cleaning. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this! Bissell should pay you a commission - I just ordered this product due entirely to your video. Hit the thumbs up and subbed.
You’re welcome and thank you for watching and subscribing 😀 the Steamshot is handy to have around the house and has so many great uses without the need of using cleaners. I love the grout brush it worked wonders on my grout lines. I couldn’t believe the amount of dirt caked on.
I got mine today and it’s fun to use !
Very helpful. You were easy to understand.
Well I guess I know what I’m getting for Christmas 🤣
Ohhhh. Love this..... on the “to get” list!
It’s a great little machine. I cleaned the grout in my kitchen and it looks 👌. I almost forgot the grout is actually cream it was so dirty 🤣
Can u use it on couches and mattress?
Very nice video, you just convinced me to buy one, I paused the video and ordered it right in the middle while you were cleaning the stove!, thank you very much.
How long can you steam for with each tank? 10 mins? Just curious... Plan on using it for detailing my car until I can get a more expensive one.
I haven’t timed the length of use per tank. It will depend how you are using it. When I use short blasts of steam I can use it for longer periods of time but when cleaning large areas and using long blasts of steam at one use it will run out quicker.
Ordered one, I'm sure I'll have lots of uses for it it
I got one this week and there are some things that bother me but I mostly love it. Like it was pretty cheap and it actually works, I don't have to take everything out of my fridge to clean it and it actually gets clean without soap residue everywhere, without constantly filling a bucket of hot water and shredding my hands. I used a steam cleaner on my fridge before and that's the only reason I bought this, I knew it would be worth it even if it didn't work on anything else
The problems really do bother me though.
WHY IS IT SHAPED LIKE THIS?? It has a hose but the body is round and can't stand up on its own? It falls over CONSTANTLY and slides around if you move the hose. You have to hold both but it falls over whenever you're not touching it
WHY DO I HAVE TO USE TWO HANDS? There's no lock on the steam button, and no steam button on the hose wand, so you have to scrub with one hand operating the hose and hold down the button on the main body with the other hand
WHY ISN'T THERE A WINDOW OR SOMETHING TO SEE HOW MUCH WATER IS IN THERE
Amazing. Thank God for His love, mercy, protection, and creations, and thank God during the highs and lows and God bless you and all of us in Jesus Christ’s King of all kings blood that was shed and name we pray amen. 😊
Fantastica. Gracias a Dios por El amor, misercodia, proteccion, y creaciones, y gracias a Dios todo los dias mala o bueno y vayan con Dios a todos y yo en el sangre y nombre de Cristo Jesus Rey de reys amen.😊
I would have never thought to use it in window and sliding door tracks! Thanks for the tip!!
I make a paste with baking soda, dawn and peroxide on the stove top. I have a ceramic stove top. Then I put a wet kitchen towel over it and let it sit overnight. Wipes clean in the morning. Much easier than steaming. I have a handheld steamer and a canister steamer and a shark floor steamer. Of course I think steaming is a wonderful tool to clean your house, but please take caution. Especially if you have small children.
Need to research more. This does not sanitize n damn thing might clean sanitize hmmm. RUclips this but good vid. Maybe she didn't use distilled water so might change outcome but I didn't go into detail just hope this works for what I want it to
I have this one and the only thing I wish it had was a cloth for the one attachment for the windows I guess you could put one on it with a rubber band and had a lock button so you didn't have to keep pressing the trigger while holding the hose at the same time
Thank you so much for the Detailed video with instructions I really appreciate it and I’m ready to use my Bissell steam shot to see what kind of performance I get thank you God bless you
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching.
idk why but my steamer releases cold steam and obviously it doesn't clean anything... I can literally put a hand in front of it. And it is after the light is off.
Just a comment here….Bissell recommends using distilled water to prevent build up in your machine. I just got one too and am planning on using it for the first time today.
Thank you so much for your tutorial.
You're welcome. Thank you for watching.
I take mine out once in a while to remind me how foolish I was to buy this.
Warm mist forced out with a "whoosh" is not steam. This thing does nothing a spray bottle and paper towels can't do.
Greetings. I have a different steam cleaner and I am looking at other steam cleaner videos. On my steam cleaner I have to wait about 10 minutes before I can remove the cover to add more water. What is the wait time on yours and how long can you clean for. ThaNK YOU ...
I just bought one of these steamers, but had ZERO clue on how to use it properly. Being that typical male, I would probably more than likely not use it to and for the correct way in which the tool was designed for 😂. Thank you for explaining the process well.
By the way, I normally use solvents when cleaning some of my things. Is it okay to use the solvents on the surfaces, and then steam clean them up? I know better than to add solvents into my steam cleaner 😅. Thank you again.
Can’t wait to try this on my my stove top I have the same one in this video 👍
My husband bought me this for Christmas heheh I can’t wait to use it!!! 😂 (Don’t worry, I didn’t peek! It’s the one gift he told me about.)
If the steamer is hot enough to sterilize the surface shouldn't it already be sanitizing the cleaning brushes? Just questions
One of the best How-To videos. Thank you for the instructions and demonstration.
So for example in cleaning the kitchen sink , u clean it first using soap and water then apply the steamer to disinfect ?!!
Does it leak at all? Steam cleaners sometimes have this problem. Do you have any advice on what to do if this happens?
I put essential lavender oil in my steam mop. Do you think it would be ok to use in this tool?
Bissell says not to add anything else but cool water in the steamer to avoid causing damage to the heating element.
Can this be used to steam the edges of installed carpeting to loosen and remove dirt which is collected in crevices at baseboards of carpeting? My Bissell carpet shampoor will not get close enough to crevices of carpeting. Carpetcleaner is Bissell Proheat 2X Revolution pet pro,
Thank you for your response.
The Bissell Steamshot has a massive recall, nearly 200 people have been burnt by them.
Thank you for the video, it’s great! Does it work well on cleaning upholstery like sofas? Or should we prefer to buy the green bissel machine for deep cleaning? Thanks
Where can I buy it? I’m in Australia I have googled but no results
Thanks for your video. I bought one, but it did not have accessories for cleaning window and also iron. I wonder should I but them seperately, and if yes from where?
Do you have hard water? I bought that Scunci Steamer years ago and after not using it for over a year, the valves rusted out and it became unusable. I tried using solvents to clean the rust and minerals but it still didn't work. Anywho, I was thinking of getting this brand. Thanks for a great tutorial and review.
Anyone else feel like the steam isnt hot enough? Ill touch the “cleaned” surface right after i steamed and its not even warm
Thank you for showing about the window squeegee
You're welcome. I really like the squeegee for the back where the dogs have their nose prints. It makes cleaning the window a lot easier.
I just used it for the first time. No impressed, and it is very, very noisy. My ears are ringing.
Super video thank you!
My steam shot arrived today and I'm very happy with my purchase - for the grout alone, buying it was worth it! Thanks for your honest review
How did it work for you? I was not impressed, and I think it is very noisy. My ears are ringing.
Has anyone’s plugged up? It worked great last summer but this summer it is clogged😳
Mine did not come with the window squeegee or fabric steamer. I'm kinda bummed cuz I got it partly to do my large windows. I. Gonna try with regular squeegee see how it goes
Thank you this was very helpful especially for window cleaning.
I just bought the non deluxe version and it only blows mist, unit feels super hot, mist water coming out is wet and warm at best. What is wrong!??
Approximately how long after starting to use it does the reheat light comes on?
thank you for this video... just made a purchase online
This is an excellent review. Thank you. Just watched in Walmart now, I can make my purchase with confidence.
