Incredibly fast , so smooth and he makes it look effortless! What he does in the 11 min of this video would take me an hour. His ability to fell in the correct skidding direction, despite tight felling space, and confidently handling hang ups is amazing. He handles that saw like a surgeon with a scalpel. As a reminder to some you are paid by the board foot. What makes you a superior feller is how much they hall out of the woods each day not how big the trees are. And I like his horse, no I mean saw too.
Just thought I would stick my nose into this thread. I am a professional tree arborist and I felt he did a very professional job. He was NOT cocky, he was CONFIDENT in his knowledge and ability. Anyone who thinks otherwise is naive and obviously inexperienced
well i wouldn't consider yourself an abroist if you think the things this guy is doing is safe or practical, there is too many errors in this video too count on both hands, this guy is doing things you learn on day 1 wrong, putting your chainbreak on ring a bell? looking at what your cutting ring a bell? not turning your back too a tree once youve just fell it? makes me laugh haha

Those were all 12’s you add and extra 6inchs if anything happens with the cut like if there’s a split in the bark witch inturn makes that log lose value
Small trees softwood watch how you notch your trees and you won't have any hangers another thing will help is learning how to put a roll on a tree if you know what I mean
In the U.S. all logs require 6” of trim or it gets deducted to the next shortest log. As in if you cut a 12’ 4 “ log it’s scaled back to a 10’6” hope that helps.
When cutting logs in the US cut all your logs with 8" trim veneer logs require 8" trim most veneer I have cut hard maple, soft, yellow birch oak cherry and a few others 9'8" and 10'8" Ash and basswood 8'8" up to 16'8" if your not sure everything 8" trim most older slashers were set up with 8" trim

Yes, and instrument choice is wrong, it's dangerous! Some trees could be better done with high stumps. And cutting half fallen tree off a stump is a very big mistake.
