I love this Amazing ''1812 Tchaikovsky Overture''. Thank you for sharing. It was a spectacular concert!
I got to see this two years in a row a decade ago... Brought tears to my eyes.
Yeaa, the old Russian anthem "God, save the Tsar' for the Americans :-D
The 1812 Overture was not the Russian imperial anthem. That was the God Save the Tsar, and it predates the 1812 Overture by about 50 years. Calling the 1812 Overture a Russian anthem is like calling Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries the German Imperial anthem.
@@MikeBenko Russian imperial anthem "Bozhe Tsaria Hrani" plays as the underlying theme at the end of the overture. To be specific 02:31 And in this version they actually sing it in Russian! lol
This song was first played at Carnegie Hall in NYC, not in Russia. So the song is relevant to the US, as we can sorta make it about the War of 1812 if we wanna push some boundaries.
The USA and Imperial Russia were great Allies, then came the Bolsheviks and the Cold War

The music is incredible, it can link different ideologies, different towns and nations. This music was composed by Tchaikovsky in honor to the victory of his Russian nation against the tyranny and ambitious of Napoleon.
Theres RUSSIAN BONAPARTISTS EVERYWHERE IN RUSSIA, They supposed to like french history and napoleonic history, And Napoleon Bonaparte was actully an imperial french hero to the french ecomony crashing down, Due to the deadly revolution of King Louis XVI. Tyranny was actully Adolf Hitler, Not napoleon.
@@mr-hewders3096 Napoleon wanted his revolutionary ideas to spread world wide, now this is just an justification for his ambitions. Secondly, to add, Napoleon was not a key player in the french revolution. The only reason why the french economy at the time was not going down was because of the "Continental System" which was an sort of economic union created by napoleons satellite states and russia.

So exciting. So appropriate. Love the passion! Love those bells and the chorus!!!
How is it "appropriate"? The 1812 Overture commemorates Russia's defeat of Napoleon after his failed attempt to invade Russia in 1812. It has nothing to do with the British/American conflict of the same year.
Not really, the 4th of July is meant for the britist/american war, it symbolises AMERICAS victory over the British, not the Russian victory over the French.
@@lorddaver5729It still has a topic about victory and this is independence day we're talking about
@@dantezefanyaaryasulang9642 You are still missing the point. The 1812 Overture commemorates the Russians' victory over Napoleon's failed attempt to conquer their country. It has nothing whatsoever to do with America's Independence, or the date 4th July.
I thought it was a joke, but really Americans sing the Russian anthem of the 19th century, when they celebrate Independence Day
Excellent celebratory music and nobody in Merica understands Russian same as nobody in Russia understands America. So that means you'll have to drop back five yards and punt. See what I mean?
Russians play famous American marches so why is that okay but this isnt? 1812 is an important year in US history, we burnt down the White House that year and all of Washington. It was the final battle.
Was the communist Obama administration
@qewe1 waew US had a war with Britain at the time after the US opted to burn down the Canadian Parliament. The newly built Washington DC capitol was burnt to the ground as revenge for a single Canadian building being torched. This conflict was totally seperate from the one in Russia but the likeness between Russia and America at the time was that both were seeking freedom from those trying to 'opress' their countries, a common battle but it was no world war or linked together in any way.. even though the French were helping the Americans while at the same time almost having total control of the Russian Empire.. but thats what this song is about the Russian defense against Napoleons army that ultimately saw Napoleans complete defeat and ultimate arrest by British forces. Fun fact: Napoleon was setting sail to the US where he was going to build a palace while bringing his most valuable possessions but right as he was about to embark across the Atlantic, he was surrounded by British troops which ultimately arrested him thus never reaching America nor never seeing freedom again.
Hopefully that clears things up :)

We need rail lines under the Bering Strait, between Russia and Alaska. Rail lines and highway across Russia to Europe. Bring development to eastern Russia. Strong Russia and America keeps commie China in check. Shipping goods via trains powered by electricity much less polluting than giant container ships crossing the oceans.

America and Russia still hate each other (thanks putin)
Alaska and Siberia have literally no roads
Money will need to be spent not only constructing a bridge and the railway, but on the roads of the two sides, which raises the costs even higher
A rail line is a very good idea but logistically and politcally it is not a good idea. I wish it would happen :(

Of course, US liked Russian Empire after all we got a very good deal on buying Alaska from the Tsar Alexander II only $7.2 million. We are loyal customers.
Alaska, that's good. But a big role played Catherine 2, twice refusing to send the king of England Russian troops to suppress the uprisings in the colonies. This was appreciated by George Washington in a letter to Lafayette in the spring of 1776. - " we are not a little pleased to learn from a reliable source that the proposals of great Britain to the Russian Empress, rejected with contempt..". Catherine 2, February 28, 1780. adopted the Declaration of armed neutrality, which was joined by a number of European States, this Declaration allowed the United States to conduct trade operations with Europe, during the struggle for independence. That was also highly appreciated by the leaders of the struggle.
Apparently this was first played in Carnegie Hall in New York
Why didn't you help us during the revolution?

Russia is anything but an enemy to the USA. The sole existence of the States is a one of the Tsars' accomplishments. Not like they created it but greatly contributed. Situation we're in is really unfortunate for Americans and Russians, and, I will say, isn't natural and purely artificial
Funny, because Tchaikovsky himself hated this piece
It's kinda moot because the Russian masses absolutely adore it. The American however, has no business appropriating this piece especially after much posturing in Ukraine. @@ruslans2006

This hymn is based on the Russian prayer-God save your people and bless them. And then follows the hymn-God save the king. It's very funny that Americans are listening to this. And more... This composition is not dedicated to the war of England and the United States in 1812, but to the victory of Russia over the army of Napoleon in Europe in the same 1812. Which was a world event. At the same time, no one even knew about the war in the United States. We really liked your President Trump. Although he was a jerk, and sent us a lot of sanctions. But we don't give a fuck! The 1812 may have been composed to commemorate the Battle of Borodino, where Napoleon learned the hard way to NEVER invade Russia, where empires go to die (unless they are--WAIT FOR IT--the mongols), but the feelings of patriotism and love of one's homeland it engenders are universal; no matter what country or culture you're from, one can't help but feel their patriotism swell at the finale. Whether he knew it or not, Tchaikovsky didn't just write a national anthem for Russia--he wrote the national anthem of HUMANITY.
