    man i really love the pure switches+keycap sounds, nowadays i saw many people to rely on foam especially PE foam to make it sound more pop or more squashy. I know sound is subjective but they abuse PE foam so much so every board sound like the same. Without foam the board sound very unique like this one, im so happy to see someone make a soundtest without foam like you and hope you have a great day

      You realize he has a 2/65 right…
      You might as well return it if you put foam in it. If you put PE foam on it, you should just quit the hobby

      @@thekeebman I know he has 2/65 and I saw some people put foam it in but it sounds terrible to me, anyway every board I try first thing I do is take away the foam so I can enjoy it lol

      Yeah I noticed pretty fast, Taeha and Alex and the “high-tier” content creators that have more dollars as well as opportunity to showcase high-tier product, almost never use foams. The boards designed at that price point are not tailored toward foam-lovers. But the entry level stuff is basically designed for foam, and can suck without it. I learned this first hand, my Zoom TKL is my first build and I went no foams, but it’s so freakin quiet cause the flex is so intense that you can’t hardly bottom out the switch, and even when you type really hard it’s so muted. Sound is cool, just stupid quiet.

    Sounds awesome
    I just finished lightly lubing (spring and stem only) a batch of Nixies and I was worried at first as they’re the scratchiest stock switches I’ve ever had but a light lubing completely transformed them.
    I’m rebuilding my Mode65 and getting rid of the Pom half plate to an alu full
    I’m waiting for my break in machine to arrive and I’m going to do an A/B comparison on a second batch

      @bradyvilhauer4445 Год назад

      I’m a novice for sure but I’ve always loved the idea of a very-lightly lubed cherry switch. The scratch is preferred by a lot of even “high-tier” community

    Sick! How do you like the carbon fiber leaf plate? Bouncy? Whats the difference with it being forged?

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  Год назад

      No real difference between types of carbon fiber. The feel is on the stiffer side but still comfy. CF is louder and has more pop to it compared to alu and does not have the metal resonance noise

    How does the new Nixies compare to old Nixies (or basically pre 1990 vintage blacks)?

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  Год назад

      Never used OG nixies before but new nixies are much more similar to hyperglides than vint blacks. Vint blacks have a deep and more muted sound so I would expect the same from OG nixies

      Black techflex, charcoal paracord, black LEMO 0B (it was from coaxius but you can spec a similar one from dispatch cables)

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  Год назад

      The 6063 alu plate that comes from keycult has a lot of resonance, trying a different material or 5000 series alu eliminates some of it, also loosening the top/mid case screws slightly helps

    how does it compare to op blacks and mx blacks? is one fuller sounding than the other, smoother, or whatever?

    • @abyss_mk
      @abyss_mk  Год назад +2

      opblack is way smoother stock, but diamond polished+broken in cherry is smoother than stock opblack
      sound wise they are all different, but nixies share tones with normal mx blacks and opblacks
