  • Summer is here, and many of us are experiencing drought conditions and subsequent restrictions. Products like Hydretain are an excellent option for summer lawn care strategies, but only if applied correctly.

    Who wrote these instructions.. if they did not put "or" multiple times in a sentence it would probably be more clear. "Or" should mean do option1 OR do option2. It should not read: "apply 9oz / 1k or maintain at 1/3 rate after initial full rate app". Apply initial app at 9oz / 1k. Afterwards, maintain monthly at 3oz / 1k. That simple!

    Jimmy, thanks for letting me know about Hydretain. I have been watching you use it in a few videos wondering if I wanted to pay that much for a product such as this. Well, this year I bit the bullet and bought some. However, rather than applying to my entire lawn, I used it only on the areas that appeared to get less water (as determined by placing tuna fish cans out). I must say, this stuff really works. The areas that used to be a light yellow is now green and I am excited about it. Thanks again for the great videos you put out and the time you spend to do it. A fellow Lehi-ite!

      You apply it to the entire lawn, not just spots that are hurting. The entire lawn will eventually become hydrophobic, so it's better to apply systemically. Do yourself the favor and do it all.

    I’ve seen some people say it turned their lawn brown? Is that possible with the wrong application?

    Can/should this be applied to the seedbed (after scalping, aerating, liming, spreading topsoil) before the seed is spread? I will be pregerminating in a water bucket.
    Please and thanks!

    I used liquid hydretain this year for the first time and didnt water it in because I assume its doing double duty, drought hit and my lawn looked the same as pass year without. We finally got a down pour 6-7 weeks after app and my lawn look better than my neighbors. Im not sure if it was hydretain, stress blend or raising mower 3.5inches.

    Hi, very informative video, Thanks in advance. Question: Whashed off with a quarter to a half an inch of water but using a hose, will be a slower wide spread motion than how you did when applying Hydretain in this video?

    Ordered some after remembering you talking about it a while back. It should get here tomorrow. I have a lawn that was out in This year and since slowing down the watering on the new sod I’ve had a lot of trouble keeping it green especially in specific spots. Hopefully this helps.

    I did Hydretain last year but I really couldn't tell if it helped. This year I am planning to do a liquid aeration a week before I apply the Hydretain in hopes to get this product more deeper into the soil.

    After using up the quart , how would
    You mix it from the gallon container?
    Pour 9 oz in the quart sprayer,
    Then rest with water, then attach to hose?

    • @JimmyLewisMows
      @JimmyLewisMows  2 года назад +1

      Correct. Except 9oz/1000 sq ft is only for the first application of the season. Monthly applications at 3oz/1000 after.

    Hey JL, per the gallon size directions, use 9. oz's per gallon, that for a larger sprayer i.e. backpack, one, or two gallon sprayer?

    • @JimmyLewisMows
      @JimmyLewisMows  Год назад

      Says to use 9oz/1000 sq ft for the initial application, then 3oz/1000 each subsequent monthly application. You can use the RTU sprayer for this or a backpack sprayer. Either way.

      Some local nurseries might carry it. I haven’t seen it cheaper than what you can get it delivered for online. I have it linked. That purchase supports me a little as well.
      I know that it’s been out of stock, but I’m told they should be resupplied soon.

      @@JimmyLewisMows - Do you have any videos or covered leveling your yard / lawn? We bought a new house last Sept. here in TX. I've since figured out the developers did a horrible job grading the top soil. I'm wondering if I need to tear everything out, have topsoil graded and start over? or is it possible to fill in low spots and re-grass.
