I’ve got the P-12E and the F4B in my stash so I’m very much looking forward to seeing how this goes. But you are right. These are lovely kits but some more modern versions would be great.
Totally agree, updated versions would be great, as well as other pre-war aircraft in this scale. Perhaps unlikely, but you never know - ICM has already graced us with some lovely Gladiators, Stearmans and Tiger Moths (oh my!) so maybe they'll come through for us. Many thanks for the comments.

The modelling equivalent of the Gordian knot, split the plunger! I too agree about scribing, battle damage helps to cover some scratches. Great video.
Lol I hadn't thought of that, but I like it. In this case, I used a razor saw; not quite as dramatic as a sword but just as effective! Many thanks for the comments.
Another great video! Getting the wings straight kept me away from biplanes. I did an Airfix Tigermoth many, many years ago. I think it ended up in the bin! It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Waldron may have introduced seat belt hardware before Model Technologies. Not sure just glad to have them.
Quite possible, I'd forgotten about Waldron. I had a few of their sets back in the day and they were pretty decent, though I recall they used a very tough metal (steel?) that was difficult to cut and bend. Many thanks for the comment.
Another thought...some of the old Microscale decal sheets have not held up well. I have some that go back to the '70's. In more recent years, they have come apart after soaking and trying to transfer to the model.

I am very much looking forward to your build of this Hasegawa kit. I remember back in the mid 70's my brother and I getting models of the 1/32 Hasegawa P-12E and F4F-B for Christmas. Feeling nostalgic I manage to get 2 of each kit from eBay and was starting to build them. I pretty much was building them OOTB, just bought some aftermarket decals. My P-12E wing is different in that it does not have the F4B-4 wingtip lights, floatation panels, or the raised handholds on the lower wing. Now the real question I want to ask is are you going to replace the tail wheel with a tail skid? Most of the photos of the P-12E have the tail skid.
That's very interesting! Hasegawa must have retooled the wing in later issues of the kit. I should check my F4B-4 and see if they've removed the P-12E wingtip lights. I'll have to find out if the aircraft I'm modelling had the tailskid or not. The P-12 was originally manufactured with a tailskid but many were retrofitted with tailwheels. I recently finished the F4B version of this kit & have begun the BF2C!
I put an ICM 1/32 seated pilot in mine to solve the seat issue.

Many thanks for the comments and a good fix for the seat issue! I got the Vector engine direct from them, I put a link to their website in the description.
Considering the kit was created in 1971 and they were probably wanting to stay within a price range for kit design and mold engineering, the one piece engine makes sense. That price range thing is also probably why they did not spend time sculpting the figure and cutting the mold for a pilot for it. A decision which I understand & a decision which ended my desire to get these kits back in the 70s and 80s.
I'm quite sure price was a factor, and the fact that expectations were much lower in the '70s therefore a one-piece engine was perfectly adequate for the time. There is a pilot in the kit - albeit a very bizarre looking one! I never add pilots to my models so not a deal breaker for me. Many thanks for the comments.
@@warpedplastic Hmm, curious. Went to check my memory by looking at PDF of instructions available at Scalemates, they have a 2005 issue, and it gives no mention or illustration of there being a pilot as part of kit.
I'm not surprised, the pilots in this range of kits seem to have fallen out of favour with Hasegawa at some point and were removed from the toolings. Neither my BF2C-1 nor the F4B-4 have pilots (both 1991 issues), but I have seen earlier releases of those kits that do. My early-issue P-26 and P-12 kits both have the pilots.

Is your house held up with acrow props?
Lol One beam has screw props either end, but they are permanently imbedded in the concrete floor. No idea why that was done, but the house was built in 1960 and I'm guessing it has been like this since new.
You have to be an egghead to attend a board meeting. It's a rule.
