    You can eat the roe either raw or smoked. In New Zealand we have trout ticklers, old fellas who tickle the trout and then just lift them out of the water . When Blaze Pitman was here recently he promised he would come fishing. We have Rainbow and Brown Trout, smoke with Manuka wood shavings and methylated spirits in an old fridge

    What is the recommended grill temperature, and the cook time or internal temp for fish such as this?

    • @jeffadams4590
      @jeffadams4590 Год назад +1

      Maybe 325°F for 15 to 20 minutes? Make sure it's forking flakey not sure the temperature 😅

    • @bbqpitboys
      @bbqpitboys  Год назад +1

      time is relative depending on fish, size, but as you say, the fork test will tell you. And careful to not over-cook. Critical

    It looks delicious. But just an heads up: generally only use extra virgin olive oil cold; for salad dressing. Better of using a cheaper, and lighter blend. Even though you use a decent one, they tend to go bitter past 100 degrees Celsius. Equates to one stick of gum, three and a half napkins from Walmart and two glass marbles in Fahrenheit.

    Orange rainbow trout?

    • @bbqpitboys
      @bbqpitboys  Год назад +4

      trout is a salmon species..and eat shrimp, shellfish etc. They will turn somewhat orange because of the carotene feed before coming up the river and smaller fresh water streams.. if you're lucky ya catch a feast of the river gods!
