Things you don't know about this video: we're going through a heat wave here in NYC at the moment and OH LORD it's hot ma loves. I take that tiny towel everywhere with me now. I'm so tired of washing my bras every day (cause I sweat so much) that I place that tiny towel between my bra and it's a life savior, please give it a go. Also: I'm so happy that Artist Craftsman is taking mega serious precautions for their customer and employees. I was kind of nervous on my way there but when I saw all the signs (and the amount of alcohol gel they have inside) I felt very safe.
I'm still sad ma loves. I feel better, but I still think about my miscarriage every day. It's nice to feel like myself again, and do these artist dates. I often think "but why bother to go out, if I can heal here at home?" yet it's so nice when you're in it, when you're outside. It's like one of those things you realize how great they are and how much you needed it but only once they're over, you know what I mean? I'm so thankful I went on this date with me.

If I recall, the RENDR sketchbooks have a barrier in the middle of the sheets of paper that prevent bleeding. You can even use copics and they will not bleed through

An ugly sketchbook is such a great idea! I mean, my art is kind of deliberately messy, sometimes ugly, but I still do get those moments where I get scared of 'ruining' stuff.

Your description and video of it is definitely the next best thing.💕 Glad you snagged the GAG Guide too - I think you’ll like it. It’s made me feel so much more confident in providing quotes, and even confident when I don’t get a particular gig. Like, ‘the client just wasn’t willing to pay a fair rate’ rather than ‘I’m terrible and nobody wants to hire me!’

i just found your channel and i already love your videos!!! all of them are so calm and chill and thats one thing i love about them... im an artist myself and i really want to learn more and more stuff about art. the rendr sketchbooks look interesting, and as a person who genuinely enjoys ink way more over pencil crayons, i hope ill get my hands on it. i also realized what happened and i really hope you'll feel better soon! your art just from the "ugly sketchbooks" makes me want to see more of your art.

Hi Fran, I've been a quiet viewer of your videos for some years now. I love your honesty so much. It's really heart warming. I'm so sorry you have to go through this big loss. It breaks my heart. Thanks for sharing though. It takes some guts to be vulnerable, especially online, and I appreciate it immensely. There's nothing in life that should be hidden away, as if we're not meant to feel what's actually there. Although I can't really imagine what it is you're going through, I'm feeling it with you and through you. I'm here, listening to your stories. Thank you so much for them. Books can be a tremendous comfort and you were talking about graphic novels in this video, so that's why I wanted to share one of my favourite comics with you. Maybe you already know it, but if not, I wholeheartedly recommend reading Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore. It's a comic about loss and love, connecting and disconnecting, about life. It's gorgeously drawn in simple black & white, Moore is a master of communicating emotions (and drawing beautiful women :-D). When going through something, we get new haircuts or new glasses ;-). For me, those are also the moments that I go back to the stories that have shaped me. To remind myself who I am, I think? Acryla gouaches are my #1 favorite art supply. They can be used like a watercolor, but they are waterproof once dry, the colors match the label, and the pigments are amazing! Their neons are magic. I'm going to go paint now.
That rendr paper is my favorite. No ghosting or bleed through great texture.
