I’m in Buffalo NY… local kid scored a rust free Cherokee from Florida with a laundry list of problems and couldn’t handle it. I scooped it up for $3800 and a couple hundred dollars and a couple hundred hours later, I’m nearing the end of fixing everything. I feel like I’m the only guy in my region with a rust-free WJ, at least at that price.
Did you ever end up making a production kit for this? I'd be really interested in a set of rear flip-up windows for my WJ (to go with your Mole panels).
I may prototype a set in lexan. But my plan is to cut panels in 3/16th thick aluminum. Shape it a bit and either paint them or vinyl wrap them in black. Everything I have read and watched you cannot drill tempered glass. So, I might try it just for fun but apparently it is just about impossible. Glass is under tremendous stress and just pops. Have you ever thrown a broken ceramic from a spark plug at a car window?
@@SpiralDesignWorks As a long time motorcycle rider yes I have on many occasions... That is why I asked. I also know how difficult getting those compound sweeps that make up the curvature of the glass is to shape, I am a retired Designer and some of the most difficult drawings were glass, particularly windshields. I will be following this project closely, both here and on the forum. Fabrication is one of those things that I love, especially doing what is out of the normal.
I have never tried to put any shape in 3/16" aluminum but hopefully I can anneal it to soften it a bit and run it through my english wheel. That is my plan anyway.
I would think it is the salt they use on the roads in the winter, gets all over everything then just sits there and works its way into every seam and crevice.
If I may, it’s not just the granular salt but also the liquid salt solutions they use. We even see this stuff getting into wiring harnesses and wicking up into the instrument panels. It gets inside double frame rails on heavy trucks and eats them from the inside out. Nasty stuff.
I know I'm late to this but it has to be the coolest mod ever. whomever had this idea is a genius.
Thank you. It has been very convenient camping.
What I would give to have a rust-free jeep!
I have a another one, 99 limited 100% rust free needs motor rebuilt. $800 message me. In deland Florida

Awesome
SWEET!!

no unfortunately I cannot find a line on wholesale or even retail hardware.
@@SpiralDesignWorks that's too bad. Also taking the glass out looked horrible.
This is bad ass
Thank you. I have about 30+ videos on the WJ now.
Question on strut mounts is it from xj or wj can't seem to find pivot mount to clear window opening
how do you take the window out? cut sealant? I broke one at a savage yard today trying to figure it out
removing that window is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I recommend hiring a glass specialist that has special wire cutting tool.
What is the best WJ Diesel swap? who does it? any info?
We are currently doing a 4 cylinder Cummins into a old Commando Jeep. But I have no experience with WJ swaps. But it is only money.
Found this one vid once a 6.7L cummins swapped into a WJ, was still half torn apart in the video but the engine was running
Any recommendations on roof rack?
Hey nice idea.
I would like to do the same but in Europe I can‘t find any ZJ parts.
Is it possible if you send me the needed parts some from usa?
Was that a Michigan hat?
Yes I used to make them.
Very cool. I must ask, are you going to source the glass from something else or cut holes in the existing glass? Or lexan?

@@SpiralDesignWorks Like I said, I will be following this, nice work man.
The jeep forum shut me down and deleted some of my posts. So follow me here and on instagram.
You say down here. Where is down here?
Florida!
Why would being "up North" cause more rust? Isn't the "South" more humid/rain? I live out West, its dry as shit out here so not getting it.

How do I tell if I have a wj or zj..
I have 1996 jeep grand cherokee. 4x4
My back windows have seal all around
And air vents at rear of those side windows
sounds like a ZJ. They are a little more square. WJ were built from 99 - 2004 models
@@SpiralDesignWorks 😊 thanks
Are you the same guy doing this build on the Facebook WJ page ?
Yup
What page are you guys talking about. I have a wk but I want to do this mod.
Wait! You fit 35" tires on stock suspension with only some trimming?
There are other videos in the build series where I go over the fender trimming and mods. I built a 6" lift on 35's
No part 2, just some teaser pictures at the beginning of this video?
I am filming part 2 today. So I should have it all edited in a week or so.
Part 2 is now live. Hopefully I will finish up this project this coming weekend with a part 3 filming as well.
@@SpiralDesignWorks kickass thanks!
W j's aren't no 500 bucks nowadays lol
Yeah it is crazy seeing 10k stickers on 20 year old Wj's on small car lots.
The world has lost its mind.
Это ато свалка? Или авто разбор?
I don't understand the question.
