This au is one of my favorites: the fact that Veronica never joined the Heathers thus she never had a relationship with JD, heather Chandler going insane and murdering the whole school, the thought process that lead JD to help Heather, JD helping heather to escape authorities and Heather probably teaming-up with him and became partners in crime
I know! the ENDING is one of my favorite parts besides the actual quality of the animation. I didn't want it to stop, I NEEDED to know what happened! I was expecting Heather to get mowed down by the cops in this au since she died in the original, but the fact that JD saved her and took her on the run made me desperate to know what happens next! It's so in-keeping with the dark 80s fantastical teen drama of it all with the original Heathers it's like it could easily have been real. I guess what ever happens next it just up to us, in our imaginations.

[Trigger warning: suicide, violence, and spoilers] So what I'm getting is this is an au were veronica never approached/joined the Heather's and thus never met jd and stayed friends with martha and Betty. But Martha possibly loses a leg during a suicide attempt due to her still suffering from depression and be bullied by everyone at school. Thus in an attempt to apologize the school collectively agrees to vote martha for prom queen and look down on her tormentors. Because of this major power shift and rising decline in popularity heather loses it and goes on a killing spree and the ghosts of her victims come to haunt her. Here I would think veronica's ghost would torment heather as revenge for killing/attempting to kill her friends. Because honestly I don't see veronica herself as a vengeful ghost but would be for her friends. [ex: the lunch scene in the opening] Then later when the cops are on to her jd comes in and him being jd relates her struggles and helps her escape with him and now both are on the run from the cops. Honestly I love this concept so much. Can someone please write some fanfic? I want to but I have no talent in writing sadly T-T
i keep looking back at the scenes with Veronica, like at 0:46 when her face was blurred out before telling martha to look back at her when she waved at Chandler. It's like she didn't want her to interact with Chandler for some reason, probably a past conflict? then at 1:35 , 1:43 and 1:44, she's with Martha at the promotional posters, which is odd since i don't think you would see a second person in promotion posters when voting? After that at 3:24 she's second to last, she gets Q, start of the QUEEN acronym (that i don't think is that important but anyways- ) at 3:59 with the ghosts, her silhouette is given more attention being dead center and having more space, also showing in front of Chandler then at 4:11 her ghost shows up again before JD's hand shoves through her stomach to pull Chandler away. What does this all mean? well in my theory, she secretly has a hand at pulling the strings backstage. I'm thinking that this is still a Heather verse but all the stuff that happened in canon got set back at junior year, which means JD wasn't there to push her to murder. What I mean is, all the events up to Big Fun happened without JD's intervention so when she went to apologize to Chandler, she didn't kill her but just managed to be an outcast worse than Martha. of course, Martha being a precious girl, stuck with her. Then she started planning on how to ruin Chandler because her senior year got worse because of her. She knew Chandler had to be knocked down her throne and the easiest way for that is during Senior Prom. The opportunity presented to her when Martha unfortunately lost her leg, which is bad. But people started doting on Martha. And that's when it all clicked. She pulled some strings to get Martha nominated, probably forging several votes on the nominations AND the finals because let's be real. Would the majority really vote for a legless girl or the most popular bitch in school with the best clique, boyfriend and the ability to ruin your life? What worked in V's favor though is Chandler cutting ties with her friends, and the most popular boy setting his eyes on Martha. She definitely did something for him to notice Martha and get convinced to take her to prom, not helped that Chandler is socially dead, as they say. At this point already, Chandler had no chance of winning the prom now. What was unexpected though was the killing spree so oops,,, also Martha probably just noticed the murders when Veronica got separated from her, probably V saved her when Chandler tried to drown her? Then the ghosts are haunting her, especially Veronica's. That's all i can think of, sorry for the mini rant :')
“Why... why did you save me?" Heather said at last. She hadn't spoken for the first forty minutes or so of the car ride away from that hellish prom night. JD had wondered if she was going to speak at all. If he'd even let her get the chance to. "...I don't know," he said. "You killed Veronica. Maybe I thought I should get to kill you myself. I don't know." Heather looked unfazed. "Are you going to kill me?" Her nonchalance was shocking. JD had thought that Heather Chandler, the Heather Chandler, Queen B-word nightmare of Westerberg High, out of anyone would go down kicking and screaming. But death doesn't mean much to a murderer. He understood that. He understood her, and now, when he subtly shifted his gaze to her blood splattered prom dress and disheveled hair, then looked away before she noticed, he thought that maybe she understood him. She didn't seem at all surprised by him today, even though he managed to surprise himself more than he ever thought he could. Still scanning the road ahead, wondering if they would be pulled over soon, handcuffed and jailed for the rest of their lives, or if they were finally somehow free now, JD spoke again. "...No. I don't think so."
JD had walked out of the prom building, he wasn't in the mood to see the cops, but he looked over. A bloody Heather Chandler was shaking as she cried. He could see a hand print on her dress. JD hadn't ever been able to connect with another person like that. She breathed, wiped her tears and took what she believed to be her final bow. Her acceptance of the fact she was most likely going to either die, or get thrown in prison for life. The doors opened, and the cops were about to shoot her. JD's mind rushed with his panicked thoughts. He made a split second decision. He grabbed her wrist, running. Heather's crown fell with a clang, and she screamed, "My crown!" and tried to pick it up, but JD yanked her, and threw her into his van, and drove off, as fast as he could. He reached down, and grabbed some sleeping pills, and gave them to Heather. She took them, and eventually fell asleep. JD lowered her seat. JD tried to care about what she had done. She murdered six people. But every time he tried to make the sleeping girl next to him out to be a monster, one single sentence responded, "But tell me you wouldn't have done it if you were in her place?"

Which would make sense, since she killed Veronica. Also, right before JD comes towards Heather, Veronica's ghost appears.

He killed people to 'fix' the world. But in this AU, Heather killed people out of pure madness, so JD would definitely consider her 'evil' and decide to get rid of her.

@@chloemendesvaz5334 In the beginning of the animatic, it looks like she's dead. I'm not sure, but to me it looked like he pretended he he's helping her escape, but he wanted to kill her. Which would make sense, since she killed Veronica. Also, right before JD comes towards Heather, Veronica's ghost appears.
@@meridaskywalker7816 Actually J.D. was probably genuinely helping Heather C escape. Clearly the events of this is different than the musical so it doesn’t seem like Veronica and J.D. were together yet.
@@Gingersmidge Even if he didn't know Veronica yet, I don't think JD genuinely helping Heather C makes sense. After all, he didn't just kill for killing (at least he believed so). He killed people to 'fix' the world. But in this AU, Heather killed people out of pure madness, so JD would definitely consider her 'evil' and decide to get rid of her.
