was doing that with my 3 1/2 pound cold steel hand and a half and my arm was on fire I can't imagine doing it with that 9 pound sword awesome video man.
Many thanks!! Mak Jo Si. I have this sword too and it's my favorite broad sword in my collection. It's a great example of the Atlantean sword from the movie, very good value for money really. The only thing I don't like about it is the tarnish coating. I found your youtube vid purely by chance! haha what are the odds of that I wonder!? Thanks to you I know how to get a better finish on those parts. That deserves a Sub.
This is great! When I was looking at chinese swords recently, I saw the Shaolin Pearwood Spring and Autumn Sword at MartialArtsMart.com. I remember thinking to myself, "WOW, a 7 pound sword! That's about the same size and weight as Conan's Atlantean sword." And here you are training with an Atlantean :-)
Kingslayer LOL! No man, the Atlantean is 9lb, not 7lb. That shaolin whatever sword is pretty non-functional though, I have seen it before, more like a display or decor kinda sword, not meant for "cutting" for sure. It's also kinda blade heavy too, so it might feel kinda clumsy in hand compare to the conan's
Chiinnature I thought it was an 8lb sword. Either way, the point I was trying to make was that I like the fact that you are using this sword for this purpose. I think a lot of people look at this sword and even the much more expensive Albion version and think they are way too heavy. But your video points out a great use for this awesome sword.
Kingslayer The balance is the key here, not the weight. A 2lb sword with poor balance can feel like hell too! Nice balance is totally the thing to look for. I know there is a very expensive version of this conan's sword, about $3k... well I will spend that kinda money on airguns, not on swords.. hahaha
Chiinnature Yep, great point. I had a 2 lb katana that was horribly balanced. It felt "heavier" than my 5 lb, 56 inch long Braveheart sword that is very well balanced.
Actually, if all you want to do is strengthen your wrist, you don't have to spend 200$ on a sword. What you need is a large crowbar that only costs about 20-25$. You can also use it in self defense as a blunt instrument. From a legal standpoint, using a tool looks one helluva lot better in court than using a weapon that by its very design indicates deadly intent. Crowbars also break bones just as well as a warhammer or a mace. As an added bonus, you can hook with a crowbar and inflicting incapacitating but non-lethal injuries is easy.
+jannevellamo In Canada, no matter what you use to harm people, it still look bad in court. Is that reality all the time? Court really cares? Those with more money speaks louder in court, those who don't have money will be bullied. That's life dude. It's not about cheap or expensive, it's just that a sword and a crowbar have different balance point. You can get a rod from home depot for cheap too, so what? The balance point and design is different from a sword. It doesn't give you the same result.
good vid mac idid that with my atlantean shiny brass finish did not like it in the end so painted it bronze and rewraped handle now looks even better than it did when i got it new its windlass btw also got fathers sword in silver finish by marto will be painting this too both swords are awsome keep on swingin steel man!!!

Hello dear Chin. I have a little confusion bout the weight of this sword, now in this video you say: -Learn how to use the Conan's Atlantean Sword (9lb) And on the presentation of the sword. -Cnonan Sword THE REAL DEAL! 8lb SWORD! Regards
+MigSu pue ram www.museumreplicas.com/p-1816-the-atlantean-sword.aspx - this is the link to the product, it says 8lb on the website, but I also found another place that say 9lb... I guess best to weigh it myself!
+MigSu pue ram yup. I still use this sword for practice now, but the v. broadsword really sucks. Don't even buy it.. the handle broke lose and is already useless!
+Chiinnature i din't know but i did know lol, i mean, just look at the design of that is a ful fantasy with no sense of functionality. Atlantea by other hand has a stronger design and can be of course reproduced for just decoration or also can be more functional, as you know.
if you cant find a sword don't use a baseball bat if you can help it, the balance for most swords would be the opposite, a wooden dowel would be better.... you could even carve it if you wanted, making it even closer to the proper balance.
