    When a stark, I like to muster a ship from the area with the port directly into the sea. This helps because then you don't need to move that other ship, and you have a bridge to move on to get the eerie or something

    The ideal baratheon opening move is: Support in the kingswood, march +0 on boats and march +1 in Dragonstone. Move only one boat into Blackwater, move the knight from Dragonstone into the kingswood and support from there when his brother footman from Dragonstone takes kings landing with a total strength of 5.

    It is a clear and methodic video. Very good for learning and easy to follow.
    Your startegy is a bit weird though- "please do not try this at home".
    But I learnt from that too, as I can see better options soemtimes..

    The huge problem if you only play with 3 people: Moat Cailin .... the war-point between house Greyjoy and Stark. If you only play with 3 players, the players will take ages to actually meet each other in combat. Moat Cailin is usually a "first turn" battle, which normally turns into greyjoy's favor (due to the valyrian steel blade, and Balin greyjoy, who will most likely always win a balanced fight for you, if you play without the tides of battles. And if you play with the tides of battle, the valyrian steel blade is extremely useful, because you can decide to draw a new "tides of battle" card)
    after that, they will either partner up, as neither of them will be able to overpower the other (greyjoys have bigger chances in a balanced battle, but they can't recruit units, as they can't use a "special action" token, which means that the starks will have the bigger forces) OR they will look for other allies, which will lead to diplomacy.
    another problem with only 3 player is, that it will always end up with 2 of the players bashing the 3rd one, which is not that much fun.
    with 4+ players, there are possibilities for different (changing) alliances, and huuuge possibilities for intrigue, as you have more players to choose as allies, and your allies can change in a wider array.

    • @Vossenator
      @Vossenator 10 лет назад

      I feel the same way about 3 player Risk. 2 players usually end up bashing the other player and that isn't much fun for the poor player that gets the bullseye on their head.
      To avoid this, I usually make house rules that prevent players from gaining up in a 3 player game. It is usually a role play rule that no players can work together because their respective factions all hate each other thereby making a 2v1 game impossible.
      I would recommend doing that with this game with 3 player or even 4 player. Like this:
      Stark hates the Lannisters, they cannot support or team up with them.
      Greyjoy hates everyone
      Lannisters hate the Starks.
      Baratheon hates the Greyjoys
      Or you can say Free for All no alliances may the last man standing win.
      Either way works.

    • @XpVersusVista
      @XpVersusVista 10 лет назад

      James Van Oss yeah but it takes away the diplomatic part, which is the most important part of the game. otherwise it is only mediocre strategy skills who's effectiveness depends on luck if you play with the tides of battle.

  • @urbanleskovar1702

    You did a mistake. When you resolve orders ex. march order you only resolve one at the time. So Baratheons resolve one order then Lannisters resolve their and Starks their. Then the Baratheons resolve their second march order and so on. But still great review i like it.

    • @ic.xc.
      @ic.xc. 7 лет назад

      So you can only resolve 1 march order at a time _(Combat)_? Then the turn goes to the next on the Iron Throne track? So you can't resolve 2 march orders right after each other or

    There is indeed a spoiler at 30:00 minutes. Its okay though because I have read the books and watched the shows. When playing the game when you bid on the throne, raven, ect is the power removed from the game forever or just for the purpose of bidding?

    You have to assign an order to each of your units. They might have come in handy if the other players had played something "raidable" nearby.

    Question: 7:26 if these tokens not affect anything because there is no threat nearby, why did you choose them in the first place?

  • @adaslabai
    @adaslabai 8 лет назад

    Almost in all tutorials everyone forgets to leave power token in teritory they are marching off before marching..... or do that after succesfull attack. If attack wasn't succesfull they do not put power tokens at all as they end up i same starting teritory :) (but they didn't forget advance in victory track even when teritory is left without power token)

    iv'e got an issues ducrig the action phase ... give you an example.. its time to resolve the march orders... im first on the iron throne track so i play ONE march order...then the second player play ONE march orders and so on till its my turn again to play my second march order if i have other march order... thats the way fantasy flight full tutorial explain it...so why does people on youtube explain it this way : im fort on iron throne track...i play ALL my march orders and then the second player play ALL his march orders etc...i think the fantasy flight games tutorial is the appropriate way to play your orders token one at the time and not all at the same time

    • @tarikay93
      @tarikay93 10 лет назад +3

      You're absolutely right. The rules say that each player plays one order at a time, until all their orders are played. Raid orders are played first, if any. Then march orders are played. And finally, consolidate power orders are played. Defense & support orders are passive.
      So if you placed more than one march order, you have to choose which one to play when it's your turn. This is crucial.

  • @arcadus

    Question: routed unit will get un routed the next turn? or they remain routed for the rest of the game? Because in this case, as they can't move, it can be worse than losing them, as they count in our Supply, but having a combat strength of 0...

  • @TheRoook

    can units attack ships? for example if an enemy ship is near by my terretory with a footman. Can footman attack enemy ship then?

  • @starlegions
    @starlegions 11 лет назад

    When u attack from one place to another...the attack can move one, some or all units to attack. The units that attack in march order, are they counted into combat strength? So lets say i have 2 knights and 1 soldier, only want to attqck with knight and solldier, does that mean the 3 going into battle and the other knight stays behind and is not involved?

  • @zarkaun96
    @zarkaun96 9 лет назад

    I found a problem with this. In turn 1, when resolving the march orders, he resolved both of the Lannister orders at the same time. This is illegal because each player resolves one order at a time. So it would go Baratheon, Lannister, Stark and then go back through the order until all orders are resolved. This is for all orders, not just March orders.

    • @gyurko
      @gyurko 9 лет назад

      I believe the rule book says this only happen with march orders, no?

    • @martdejager3102
      @martdejager3102 8 лет назад

      No, orders are allways resolved in turn depending on who is number 1 on the iron throne track, that goes for Raid/March/Consolidate power. Since support and defence order are in conjunction with March order which lead to combat

    how often do you use all 9 footmen unit in this game ? i found a copy with only 8 footmen unit for lanister army. the price is $20 lower. is it worth it ?

    • @alexschroder6295
      @alexschroder6295 7 лет назад

      I'm sure you can get a replacement footman for less than $20 on eBay, so yes, it is probably worth it. However, depending on the asking price, it may be more enjoyable to keep watching for the game on eBay and wait for a really good price. I got mine for $38 including shipment, brand new and still sealed (2nd ed.).

  • @Ragmesesis
    @Ragmesesis 11 лет назад

    the mustering is wrong 1 knight couts has 2 units and 1 footman counts has 1 unit = an army of 3 if you add an extra footman it will be an army of 4... it does not count has an army if the footman is solo in an area.

    Question when I use a march order how many units can I move and how far can they travel because you had me confused with the one wear they cross over ships?

    • @foxygames4443
      @foxygames4443 9 лет назад

      You can move as many as you want from the territory the order is in and you can only move them to neighbor territories

    • @alexschroder6295
      @alexschroder6295 7 лет назад

      Neighbor territories and the first overseas territory beyond a ship-bridge. If you have ships on a segment of sea next to your armies' territory,, you can travel to any other territory directly adjoining that particular segment of sea.

  • @XpVersusVista
    @XpVersusVista 11 лет назад

    My House-Rules (recommended):
    -) The Iron Throne produces 1 Power-Token per round (player takes the token, then turns the throne around, happens in “consolidate Power” phase)
    -) If an Influence-Vote starts, the iron throne is passed on after ALL 3 VOTES are decided (ties are broken by the former owner, until all 3 votes are over)
    -) Valyrian Steel Blade adds +1 in battle (as usual) and also inflicts 1 casualty (like a “blade” sign on a house card), if you don’t use the “Tides of Battle” cards (optional: you use it together with the tides of battle cards)
    -) Ships can only be recruited in port cities.
    -) Footmen cannot be upgraded into Siege Equipment,
    * if you are at your army max, then you can upgrade a footmen for TWO recruit points [as expensive as building a new one, but the rules say you can never go over your cap, so this small rule is there so you can recruit one and get rid of a footmen]
    -) Ship transport: You need at least 1 ship in at least 1 harbor in a sea-zone to move a land unit from a “place” that is adjacent to said sea zone [you don’t need a port to get off the ships, only to get your troops ON the ships]
    EXAMPLE: To get troops from Riverrun to Highgarden you need a ship in Lannisport to transport your land units onto ships, and you need a ship in the Golden Sound, in the Sunset Sea and in the West Summer Sea BUT you don’t need a port in the West Summer Sea, as you are only getting OFF the ships.
    To get units onto ships from Highgarden again, you would now need a Port in the West Summer Sea. (the logical explanation for this is, that you need to get enough supplies for the army, and you can only get that at a harbor in large enough quantities to supply a whole army)
    -) If King’s Landing is conquered (which has a neutral force of 5), the player that owns it can get a garrison, the “King’s Guard”, there. Which strength they have (1 or 2, I recommend 2) is decided by the players before the game starts. To get the garrison, you have to “pay” a power-token ONCE, until they are destroyed! If someone else conquers King’s Landing, the former king’s guard is killed and the new owner has to pay a power token to get new Guards.

    • @XpVersusVista
      @XpVersusVista 11 лет назад

      another newly made house-rule of mine is about recruitment:
      normally you can only recruit with either the westeros Recruitment card or a special Consolidate Power Order. But the greyjoys for example can't use any special orders, which means they can't recruit. Or to make it clearer, whoever is the last (or the last 2 in a 6 player game) on the Court-influence-track (the track with the raven) will not be able to recruit, and will have a huge disadvantage, making this influence track the by far most important one.
      so my solution for that is to actually allow recruitment with the normal consolidate power order, BUT only in A FORTRESS, where you can normally recruit units for 2 points, AND you can only recruit for 1 point with the consolidate power order! in addition, you can still only recruit in ONE place each round, which means EVEN IF you can use a special Consolidate Power order, you will only be able to recruit in ONE fortress/castle, not in an additional fortress with a normal con. power order.
      That way, the Influence track is still important enough, but not the by far most important anymore (still the most important for me, but not THAT important) and people who land on the end of this track won't bleed out.
      and don't forget, because you can only recruit at a fortress with a normal consolidate power, you can get units BUT they will most likely have to take quite a long way to get to the enemy in the later game.

    • @XpVersusVista
      @XpVersusVista 11 лет назад

      and if you think that makes the court influence track too underpowered, you can say that everyone who wants to recruit with a normal Con.Power Order has to pay a power token for each recruitment (so it will only be used if really needed) [i like that idea even more then without the power token, i recommend using this]

  • @KK-un5sl

    Please explain why a person would like to maintain control on a piece of land by spending a power token.

    • @zarkaun96
      @zarkaun96 9 лет назад

      +Iris Iris Say the region in question has either a power symbol or supply symbol or a castle. If it was being held by a power token, you could still use the power symbols to gain more power tokens, or still gain the supply to have more armies, or use the castle to muster unit.

  • @ChainSawification
    @ChainSawification 10 лет назад

    Do you get a power token every time you take control of a place with the token icon on it?
    Also do you get a power token every turn for every token you have in places you control?

    • @Vossenator
      @Vossenator 10 лет назад +1

      You only get a power token anywhere you give a unit (footman or knight) a "consolidate power" order. If a crown is on that space where you give the order you would gain an additional power token (2 instead of just 1) otherwise on a normal space you get 2 power token.
      Essentially, the strategy is how you want to use your units to further your goals. Do you want to march your units to gain better ground or take more land? Do you want to use your units to attack your rival? Or do you want to use your units to gather power tokens to further your position on the influence tracks?

    • @ChainSawification
      @ChainSawification 10 лет назад

      You mean on a normal space you get 1, right?
      and thanks for answering the question. Makes sense now.
