Hi if you haven't yet, I find spraying my herbs and vegetables plants with disprin or aspirin water either at night or early in the morning. It will also help with growth. Mix 300g disprin in a 1.5 litre coke bottle, let it dissolve and spray every 3-4 weeks once
For the ants, they are normally after aphids. They farm aohids. Check closely. Sometimes cinnamon or baby powder. Ants follow a scent...u need to overpower that.
