It seems pretty common for him to have guests on stage at MSG. That would be the place to see him since you can never predict who he could bring up to sing with him!

Actually it's not hard to notice that these days he still sounds quite (relatively) well singing in lower keys, so it's no surprise he's better doing covers than BJ songs. And that also results in his confidence on stage.

Making special shows, duets and singing tracks below his vocal limits would be the best way for his later years. You can see here relaxed and not suffering when he performs his biggest hits on tour. On the other hand I think that overacting with those boxing-Jagger-Elvis moves are unnecesary.

Maybe it's because all these covers aren't as high-pitched as his own songs and he doesn't have to struggle so much to hit the notes.
This type of songs fit his current voice very well. Sounds good!
