It's only punishing for checks you think you'll ever make. Typically the min/maxer builds a character that doesn't make those roles to be effective. I might be behind your penchant for going negative if you didn't always use a SAD power to shore up the defense. So far, I don't think I single NPC has been built with a negative stat in the books. I could be wrong. It should be the exception, not the norm. I'd also wager one doesn't worry about failure when there is likely someone on the team who isn't built to wiff the roll. Honestly, what I use the info from your videos is as a wake up call in case one of my players tries to use something similar which could unbalance the game. (Which tbh, is very easy in this game.)
It's a little disingenuous to say you'll have fewer powers if you take a negative stat because you feel you have to shore up the defense. By going negative you'll have more points to atack and all defense stats having overall higher defenses. If you didn't have the defense powers that shore up your dump stats, you wouldn't do it.
Good video, I typically avoid negative modifiers, but will have to give it a shot.
I took logic -1 not knowing the rules. I did that because he is intended to be a guy that relies on fate and not logic.
