🇦🇺😎👍I’ve got 2 DR 650s. Both with port jobs , both with complete FMF exhaust systems , both with TM 40 carburettors, both with open airboxes. One produced 49 hp but had to be retuned and rejetted to 47 hp due to engine surging at 100 kms / hr. Now it lighty surges at 85 kms/ hr🙄. The other runs great at high speed 100kms/ hr but runs like a 2 stroke motorcross bike around 60 klms/hr.🙄, bang pop bang🙄. You’d think they’d run better than new. Both bikes are complete rebuilds , both running on the correct fuel ,both are now low kms engines…🤣just another one of life’s mysteries
I have ran a TM 40 on my DR for a long time, it works great, very happy with it. It has been on 2 DRs, the first one had the top of the air box cut out and the second had about just another hole about the same size as the original hole cut in it, both worked great with my stain tune exhaust. Now I just run the standard exhaust with the hole covered and the snorkel back in place, the noise of the air box sucking in the air became annoying, with the louder exhaust it was fine but with the standard exhaust being so quiet it was a lot more noticeable. The bike runs perfectly fine still and have never changed any jetting, the TM 40 just seems to pull of the bottom better than the standard carb, a lot more responsive.
i re-jetted, cut the whole top out of airbox, blocked the vacuum on the carb (just have to remember to cut fuel off now). 50 to 68 MPG, max speed (GPS) 91 mph. I'm was happy with it. Can't remember what jet size, nor clip position I used.
Hi Dustin. I installed the Procycle TM40 and there’s three vacuum lines that I’m not sure where to hook up. In one of your videos I saw the same three lines. Did you just cork them?
Nice video. I have a 21 myself and am considering the TM40 for low end throttle response and smoothness at low RPM. I keep seeing people talk about the header pipe welds being the main issue with these bikes. Every do anything to your header pipe or remove it to confirm these claims?
I had my header pipe off sometime prior for something unrelated. While I had it off, I did grind the welds a bit just because I know it’s a common thing, but I hadn’t noticed any issues prior to grinding the welds.
did you bother to use adaptor rings or just were able to clamp the TM40 tight without rings? Looks like the TM40 inlet and outlet is about 2mm smaller diameter than stock carb.

Hi any idea what jetting specs you are using ?

They are vent lines. Just route them down between the back of the engine and swingarm pivot.

I made some adapter rings in this video.

Guess you skipped the tm40 installation instructions from pro cycle haha, they tell you to cut out the top of the air box and even have a template
I didn’t buy from ProCycle
What jet sizes do you run?
I discuss my jet sizes in the first video of this series at the 10 minute mark

I did change accelerator pump nozzle size in part 5 video
@@DustinRogersinMO will take a look thanks.
