Allways puzzles me that pout are often regarded as junk fish and just chucked back but I have eaten them and they where very nice .I was told that they have to be eaten that day as they go off quickly what your thinking on this species 🤔
They just need to be gutted soon after death or they will go soft like mackerel and tainted like pollack if guts left in to long. They have a delicate flesh so need to be cooked accordingly that's why steamed works so well for them. They taste great. Often fish get classed as Junk as more work or preparation is involved maybe an alternative cooking method is needed for best results, Sometimes its just there are other easier fish to choose from.
