If your device is still under factory warranty go to www.asus.com/us/support/ for support. As always make sure you register your device for the warranty coverage.

Exact same problem and exact same temporary fix per your video. Thank you. Mine was out of warranty and they estimated $179 for repairs. My one last ditch effort seem to work so far. Used your rubber band trick to drain the battery dead. Max brightness and turned off standby shutdown. Let it sit overnight. Recharged it the next morning and the solid yellow charging LED returned (instead of a blinking one). Left it charging till the amber LED turned white. Am able to restart normally now. But I have blown away all apps with earlier hard windows reset suggested fixes so now have to re-install everything. Well at least it is alive now, for now anyway. Don't know when the problem will return again. Thanks again for putting this video up.

    FOUND THE ANSWER
    1. Find a heavy duty rubber band that can hold the power button down for a long time.
    2. Disconnect the power supply
    3. Have the band push on the power button until the PC turns on
    4. Leave it running for a long time to completely drain the battery - 10 hours or more
    5. Once it is completely dead, remove the rubber band
    6. Plug in the power supply and wait 20 minutes. You want to see the light steady orange at this time
    7. Turn the PC on with normal 2-second push on power

Thank you so much for your advice.I managed to save my things but I also managed to make it work again. Thanks to you rubber band advice I first saved everything then checked for all window updates and installed them.(took me the whole evening and the next morning as it kept getting off randomly).I then use all the 'fix' and "check' tools, defrag, clean disk, make space etc. I then switched it off. After switching it off I noticed that the orange light stopped flashing so I left it to charge until it turned clear. Switched in on and connected to the keyboard and it is working! Thank you again!🙂

Damn I had the same problem, and it happened the same way to me. I didn't use my Asus for 5 or 6 days. I used the same trick with the rubber band in order to save files....all the same. By the way the keyboard didn't respond either. I sent mine to get fix and it'll take time until I get it back...It still travelling on its way to California. I wish I knew how to reinstall the ACPI before, when I contacted ASUS they never gave me any sort of solution like that. Thank you for posting this video it really raise awareness about this common problem for this specific model ASUS Mini Transformer T102HA.

Hopefully you will receieve yours back in better condition than I did. Thanks for the feedback. Yes my keyboard wouldn't respond either like yours. I got my device back from repair and just uploaded an update video today on here. They emailed me a short survey to fill out online. Havent heard anything back to the negitive feedback I gave them on the repair service I received. Heres the update video and I'm not HAPPY with the service. I explained in the new video. same problem. rubber band trick worked so i could get into windows. Contacted Asus, they said to try hard reset (didnt work). then to try updating or reinstalling the battery components. they said there were 3. I reinstalled Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery (was hidden in devmgmt.msc). a few restarts later it was working again.
From ASUS (i only have 2 devices under battery still):
    Steps to reinstall battery driver:
Step 1: In the Control Panel, open the Device Manager. Under "Batteries" you should see three items, one for the battery, another for the charger, and a third listed as "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery".
Step 2: Open each item, this will bring up a Properties window.
Step 3: Under the "Driver" tab, you'll see an option called "Update Driver." Go through the driver update process for all three.
Step 4: Once the drivers are all up to date, reboot the laptop and connect your charger please.
Step 5: If this doesn't resolve the problem, uninstall "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" in the Device Manger completely and restart the unit.

Exact same issue as your after 5 years of happy carefree ownership.
    1. I used the rubber-band trick to power on (thank you!!!),
    2. I then uninstalled all hidden devices related with battery,
    3. I installed all windows updates along with device driver updates,
    3. Left it on with the rubber-bands to drain the battery on max brightness while playing 4k youtube,
    4. I used a 33W fast charger and brand-new cable to charge again and it worked fine.

    HELLO EVERYONE
I did all this thanks for the tips. The battery icon had completely disappeared and no sign of a battery in the parameters. I used it with the elastic band until it crashed completely, as it did not seem to charge anymore. So I put it in a drawer and started mourning my beloved netbook... BUT I had this strange idea ( a call from outaspace) a week after to try to charge it again before dumping it and guess what???? It started after charging for 2 hours as if nothing had ever happened! a miracle!
do objects have a soul??? this is the question..

I did the rubberband fix to turn on and added a pencil between the rubber bands to keep pressure on the start up button. Then did a restart on computer and works fine now. My I.T. guy at work said my charger may have not been plugged in and computer could have gone into sleep mode. So when going into shutdown for computer restart has me back in business so don't be too quick to send your ASUS in for repair.

I too had this problem after not using this tablet for some time and having it in the off position. Upon trying to turn it on, the power light will do a series of fast blinks and I had to hold it for around a minute or maybe less for it to turn on. While the device was in this sate, it did not show the battery info in the task bar and the power button had to be held down otherwise it would cut off. Attempting to charge it would just make the power light blink but it would not actually charge. I just kept on messing with it until it would not turn on at all by holding the button down and eventually the power indicator stopped lighting up all together. I then proceeded to connect it to the charger and the light came back on this time without blinking but at first I could still not get it to come on. It eventually started charging again and came back on normally though I was locked out for some reason and had to provide a bit-locker key to regain entry.

In device manager, I went to actions, show hidden devices and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery driver was greyed out. When I clicked on it the device status says Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer (code 45) To fix, reconnect this hardware device to the computer. In prior videos, I saw people opened the tablet and disconnected then reconnect the battery. I suspect that's the fix. Also, when I viewed the Events Tab, it showed that on 8/22/2018 the device was migrated. Not sure what that means but I wonder if a windows update broker the driver and started all of this. Still no solution for me yet.

  • @markc1310

Yep. Same issue. I'm trying to fix it too. Rubber band trick works great. This is the second time i have had issues. I sent it in last time for a bad power adapter plug. (The computer side). When i received it it was never the same again. Much slower and everything had been removed as far as apps and files. Pretty disappointing. I know they aren't that expensive anymore, but that's not the point. Its not a great product like ASUS is know to make. I have 3 other ASUS computers, all of them still work great. I'm now trying to figure out how and where to find battery driver in my device manager. It seems that is the missing piece of the puzzle to me. No driver, the computer cant recognize to stay power on. But just speculating. Trying a reset now, then ill try to upload a new driver for battery. Seems this must be a pretty common problem, not only on the mini transformer but their tablets in general. Thanks for he video. Until i saw this i had given up. I kept holding it ten seconds and it wouldn't come on. Its more like 45+ seconds needed.

Then, I let the battery die. When there was no power I recharged it. It was all sorted. It is a Windows problem.

I had this exact issue and I was able to fix this issue without sending device in for repairs. I contacted ASUS and huge shout out to the agent that helped me. He told me what I needed to install from their site to fix this issue. So this issue occurs when the driver that runs the battery is removed from the device. If you go to the site below and download the ATK file, it has all the drivers you will need for this device to run properly again. You will need to extract the file but, these drivers come from the ASUS website so they are safe to download. If you have issues installing the drivers then I would contact ASUS and they should be able to help you with fixing this issue.

I also had the same problem. It happened after I did not use it for a long time. Drain the battery with the rubber band trick. Plug in a ( VERY IMPORTANT ) computer USB port to charge it for 1 hour. When you see solid light plug it in Asus charger. Turn off battery saver below 20%. Hope this works. It worked for me.
