Trump is either lying, or confused, about the gag order. Trump knows he can’t testify, because he can’t explain away the mountain of evidence, and can’t lie on the stand or it’s perjury. So Trump needs an excuse why he won’t testify himself, and is absolutely falsely blaming the gag order, which NEVER meant he could not testify or do other things Trump claims.
The judge just explained that to Trump and his lawyer…again, telling him the gag order of course never mentioned or had anything to do with Trump not being able to testify, and Trump certainly can.
And the “gag order” is very specific. It’s doesn’t mean you can’t testify, or talk about why you are innocent, or criticize the proceedings, or give your opinion on the case, etc.
It DOES mean you can’t threaten witnesses, show picks of a swinging bat next to the a judges head, make reference to or attack the family of jurors or court staff, publicly say with zero evidence that some random court secretary is having an affair with the judge, etc (fine if true, but that goes thru the legal system) or hint that you think the prosecutor should be attacked by your supporters, etc. This goes for any trial and should be common sense.
Cohen and the others aren’t doing those things. Trump is, and has done so over and over, with many warnings and escalating fines. So that is why.
Are you complaining that Trump is raising money on it? why is your complaint one sided?

There are 2 reasons:
1. The rich and connected can pull political strings to let them get away with crimes that others would be immediately prosecuted for. But it often fails if the crimes get too big.
2. Trump does the mafioso thing where he never writes shady stuff down, talks about things only vaguely and indirectly, won’t specify people but just say “our friend,” etc.
Cohen was the one whose hands were dirty, who set up the fake company under a false name to hide how donor money was being misused. So MUCH easier to convict Cohen.
