- 'This Song' was the first single to be released from George's 1976 album Thirty Three & 1/3, and it peaked at No.25 in the US singles charts. It was written as a response to a recent court case where George had been sued over the supposed similarity of his song 'My Sweet Lord' to The Chiffon's hit 'She's So Fine', where George had been forced to sit and listen to incredibly detailed break downs of both songs to the point that he "started to believe that maybe they did own those notes". The song features Billy Preston on piano and organ, and Python Eric Idle calling out "Could be ‘Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch,” “No, sounds more like ‘Rescue Me’!”
This video was originally shown on the 20 November 1976 episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Paul Simon in which George was a special musical guest. See if you can spot various famous (Small) faces making cameo appearances including Ronnie Wood, drummer Jim Keltner and saxophonist Tom Scott. Видеоклипы
George was a genius song writer
And underrated too
Better than genius
@@paulmccartneystoenail4897 George was one of the best song writers of all time. I mean, how far off was he from Paul & John? We all know he submitted some awesome songs to them that he later released on his solo albums. All Things Must Pass is a good example. Although, that song was better for George's first solo record (if you don't count Wonder Wall Music). It is still my fav Beatles solo record, Plastic Ono Band is #2. There are so many great musicians on All Things Must Pass, George plays some but not much guitar. So his next album, Living In The Material World features his awesome guitar playing throughout.
Here's a video I did back in 2011 when Scorcese's doc was released Be Here Now ruclips.net/video/xb4uFy2m96Q/видео.html&start_radio=1
Drum LEGEND Jim Keltner as the judge. Never before or since has a gavel been played with such exquisite timing…

I freaking love is hair here! It’s so beautiful!
it has more screen presence than most movie stars
George in general is beautiful
I do love this track. George seems to have had a wicked sense of humor. Its sad that He has gone to a better place now. I do not believe He would like the world as it is now.
Rob Trust Yes, think in Trump era! things are worth for everybody, George always is present for me!
George didn't go anywhere. Be Here Now.
George is still here... quietly gardening in my heart 💜
I'm happy to know he is in a better place. I do miss him. He left us with a great legacy of music and thoughts. You're right he would not like the world as it is now but I believe he would still find bliss. What we're all searching for
George is full of surprises. l love the way our shy retired George is really getting into the acting for this video.
I keep hearing George was shy. I repectfully disagree. He wasnt in the spotlight as much as John & Paul was, for sure. But he had so many more close friends, which IMO makes you the opposite of shy. Dylan, Clapton, Leon, Deep Purple, Preston, Petty, the Pythons, the racecar world, the Krishnas, etc... goes on and on.
@@725jenks Yes! Good point.
What a bass line!!!
Last saw this nearly 39 years ago when it aired on SNL!
Later in the show there was another musical short (Music videos hadn't been invented yet) showcasing George's song, "Crackerbox Palace".
+Themanwhocameback2 Music videos were around since video jukeboxes were invented in the 1940s.
Yes, then they died out, my blemish! I am not talking about pre rock times.
This song is such a great song from the late great George Harrison!
super funny George Harrison! Miss his wit and music!
He made fun and jokes from really hurting things. So blessed. 😊✨🙏😄😎
One of the greatest music videos of all time from one of the greatest artists of all time. George's videos were always really cool, usually hilarious and always unique.
Such a hilarious video for a great and meaningful song about a controversy that poisoned George's soul for years. We still love you George, wherever you are now! :)
Sbradiganz George lives forever in our mind, such a serius person in this funny video!!, sorprendente!!
Amen!
Great video, really hilarious! This song is pretty amazing and the "Thirty Three & 1/3" album is one of my favorites. Great vocals and upbeat melodies, with a wonderful keyboard and sax work. No to mention the George's guitar. Simply beautiful.
It's a good one!
RIP George Harrison (1943 - 2001)
George....you so funny in 0:11 ....!!!
# LOVE FROM INDONESIA.
Creatività al 100%. Un genio. Saluti da Milano 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Quanta saudade desse gênio da música..
Wow! Billy Preston is PHENOMENAL on piano and organ, astounding! I'm a big Preston fan since "Space Race" and saw him in a Ringo show here in Houston, but find a lot of his playing simplistic, like the solo and comping on "Get Back" and "Come Together." Also on the video with Nat King Cole, granted he was only 11 years old then but for all the "child prodigy" hoopla his playing on that video is basic. This, however, is anything but. I can recognize his piano style here from his other efforts, but this just takes it to another level. I've never heard anything like it. During the intro, listen to how he does a call and response between the piano and organ, with the organ stabbing hits on the backbeat. Now I see what everyone has always said, the guy's good.
Is that Ron Wood--Love this Tune!!!!!!
Fantàstic George !!!! The best !!!
Perhaps the best music video ever made 💕
crackerbox palace!

I was trying to remember and I think you are correct. Back when SNL was SNL!!!

As a woman, Ronnie Wood never looked better lol
Fun video! Ahead of its time.
I just love him
Hilarious video to a great song. And the story behind it makes the lyrics even better.
Wonderful!!!!!
Oh this is great! Thanks for posting.
the legal system seems so kind, understanding george..why even the copper ' are keeping time...splended!
Dare i say, 'the genius of George' at the time i thought this a brilliantly 'apt' comeback to a dreadful piece of opportunism. A bunch of absolute unknowns trying to make a few bucks out of an artist of Georges calibre, but of course there is always some one like that around. Anyway what better way to cap the whole side show off than with a VERY clever song like this folks. The unknowns long forgotten but George lives in the musical hall of fame forever.
Rubbish George was a multi-millionaire and ripped off a poor black artist. Even Lennon said it was clearly a rip-off. I love The Beatles but he plagiarised another artist and everyone could see that.
@Jeff Reacher No he didn't, there are similarities he could/should have been aware of, but playing the "white guy rips of poor blac k artists"-card is just idiotic, especially with a person/artist like George.
You can hardly compare My Sweet Lord and He's So Fine apart from their musical structure and even then, saying it was a rip-off doesn't make sense.
@@AnyoneCanSee Lennon ripped off Come Together from Chuck Berry. Just slowed it down.
ruclips.net/video/9jKrHzps0XM/видео.html Berry's lawyers were going to sue. But, they settled it.
@@randyventresca4152 - Yes, I know about this. However, this was an extremely common chord sequence which is a basic part of Rock N Roll and was just one part of the song. George took the entire music, verse and chorus. If John hadn't taken part of the lyric "as a homage" they never would have had a lawsuit. He knew it was a similar chord sequence and lots of musicians do that but tried to be clever and took a little of the lyric thinking he was paying respect and it was fine as it was such a common sequence. Paul warned him to which he showed how many songs used the same basic sequence. However, in court, you would have had non-musicians deciding if it was plagiarised and so he agreed to record some music from the same music publisher which is how we got the Rock N Roll album and his version of "Stand By Me".
@@AnyoneCanSee and She's So Fine used an old religious hymn (Oh, Happy Day) for it's melody. But that melody was in the public domain. So, they got away with it. Lennon should have directly acknowledged Berry's song on the album. Common chord sequence? Maybe...but a lot of the same notes too. Regardless, My Sweet Lord and Come Together are way superior songs than the melody source they grabbed them from.
'This tune - there's nothing 'BRIGHT' about it' - classic George Harrison wit...
EXCELENTE !!! SIMPLEMENTE UN BEATLE POR SIEMPRE !!!😀😀
Lyrics:
This song, has nothing tricky about it
This song, ain’t black or white, and as far as I know,
Don’t infringe on anyone’s copyright, so…
This song, we’ll let be
This song is in E
This song is for you and…
This Tune, has nothing Bright about it
This tune, ain’t bad or good, and come ever what may,
My expert tells me it’s okay
As this song came to me, unknowingly
This sing could be you and could be,
(Could be Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch!)
(Nooo, sounds more like Rescue Me!)
Ooh…
This riff, ain’t trying to win gold medals
This riff, ain’t hip or square, well done or rare
May end up one more weight to bear
But this song could well be,
A reason to see that,
Without you, there’s no point to this song
But this song could well be,
A reason to see that,
Without you, there’s no point to this song
for people who is asking why there is another video clip of this uploaded on George Harrison Channel, well one its interlaced and the other one no.

haaaaaha PERFECT! !!!
sweet
Maravilha.
I believe he also did "Sue me Sue You Blues" on the same subject.
Hapless Student I think that one was more Beatle business oriented than Chiffon related.
+Hapless Student Yes, that was about the break up of the Beatles.
Beautiful song!
Dang!!! I didn't know they wore English Lord wigs in U.S. courts back in the 70s
i only just realised the subject of the song and the video 😂
ジョージってすごく面白い! ただのイケメンでなくて、
ユニークなエンターテイナー‼️
3:15: What is THAT supposed to mean --- that thing coming out of the man's mouth?
This Song needs a silly video with happenings that nobody really knows and most likely wouldn't be shown... woah, I just added my lyrics!!!! :-D
The quiet one- the best one.
Nicky Hopkins on piano ? ( no, I'm not referring to the stenographer in the video ! )
Some humor.
Anyone know who the other person in drag is? One of them (the blonde) is unmistakeably Ronnie Wood, but still trying to figure out who the hell the other one is after all these years.

It's funny because he is making fun of the lawsuit over my sweet lord. He makes the people seem like incompetent fools.
Ok I'll admit it. I'd rather focus on Billy's playing than be distracted by that girl's thighs.
George acting is as corny as me.... Greg
