Got my Raptor, 2300km on it now. It's amazing.. Was lucky with an earlier slot that came up. Moved my delivery up by a month. Love it. Went up the mountains last weekend, just normal, but steep climbs and descends, amazing. So easy to handle, fast, comfortable. 5 hours drive, 5 people and luggage in the back for 13 people (van for the rest) which in my 3.2 Everest would have been quite an exhausting drive was no problem at all driving the Raptor.
Got a roller-shutter installed yesterday, Hamer. it's an absolute blast driving it so far.

How have you found fuel use now you’ve put some ks on it?

    • @lucscholte2343
      @lucscholte2343 Год назад +5

@@ExxtremeJunkie Was searching for this video to comment on that, thanks for asking Sebastian. It's thirsty! I think I'm a fairly moderate driver, more of the "I drive properly, but I know I got more speed and power than most trying to show off their speed and idiot driving skills" type..
With that said, I'm getting 8-8.5km per liter of fuel..(EDIT: sorry, that's km's p/liter, just checked the board-computer, which shows 12.7 liter/100km, which is closer to the 11.5 liter/100km that Ford claims, but it's still quite a bit off.)..I've now done 4,100km with it, 99% on-road. Long distance trips like 150km south, 450km north of where I live and every day use.
Every day use is about 80km p/day, city drive with some slow traffic to drop my son off at school (about 15km total) and the rest is toll-way/high-way to work with moderate traffic and average speeds between 80-100km/hr. Max speeds at around 120km/hr.
I'm using E20 now, getting about 580km out of a full tank.
Coming weeks I'll switch back again to 95 fuel for a while, (can't get 98 here) see if that would give different results, but can't see how I would possibly get close to that 11.5km/liter.
Personally, I'm not bothered by it. My view is that when you buy this type of car, you buy it for the performance, the fun of driving it. If you're bothered by the fuel consumption, then definitely, this car is not for you!

I am waiting for mine in black color. For me, the new Ranger raptor Is by far the best looking truck and the best bang for the buck. I even checked reviews for the new colorado zr2 and It Is still the best decision: better look, better materiales, better interior, better screen, more powerful engine, and better design overall, even the animations when you change driving modes look better.
The new TRD PRO Tacoma Is looking promising though.

It seems 90percent of vehicles on the road are white or some variance of grey or silver. In my opinion this makes for a depressing landscape on the road. I would like to go back to the vehicle colour schemes we had in the 70s and 80s. Greens blues reds and yellows dominated. We even had 2 tones for some. From a safety point of view the brighter colours also improve visibility. So no I don’t think you got a good colour lol
I ordered the code orange and it arrives on the 24th of October when I was originally told it would be March next year.

After going through the video again, still love the enthusiasm of it Paul, fantastic job on recording it!
Some differences between Australian / Thai version of the Raptor I've noted:
    1. No Sway-controls in TH version
    2. No Zone-lighting menu. It is advertised, but can't find it in the menus and there's nothing in the Ford-Pass app as well.
    3. No Towing menu (no tow-bar also, even though the Ford TH web-page says it does)
    4. TH version does have 2 outlets in the load-bed, 230v and 12v).
    5. TH version does not have a ruler on the backside, but does have the clamping points.
General comments: Had some glitches in software. Errors like Auto-Beam adjustment not working temporarily, and a sudden: Tank Empty, not enough fuel to reach the next petrol station! (even though the tank was 3/4 full).
A simple stop and start is enough to reset and solve those, but goes to show that the system is not perfect yet.
Auto-brake lock: I have the auto brake on, which puts the brake on when in front of a traffic light for example. Tap the accelerator slightly and it releases. But for the reverse, mostly it doesn't work. This morning at the carwash it did for a change, but then stopping at the petrol station after 45m. nope off again.
Sometimes the startup screen stays on and hangs, and then projects the vehicle info over it. Stop and restart the car, because it's quite difficult to see things like speed, rpms, etc.
Here in Thailand, I got a 2,000km 'shake-down' service. Bring the car in, garage will check everything and download the data gathered from my driving. It's free, and I think a good thing, especially with a car that will potentially see a lot of 'abuse' in extreme conditions. (I'm not such driver though).
Ford-Pass: Limited so far. Start/Stop, Scheduled Start, Oil Life, Lock/Unlock, Horn/Lights (like an Alarm function)..Distance to empty (fuel), Tire-Pressure, Service booking..But.. No zone-lighting for example, Maps is quite limited, can't choose a spot on the map, need to know the exact name of the place to go.
Very strange: There's no Raptor Manual in the App! I need to sit inside the car, using the console display to read the manual!
Turning radius: It's like turning around a 10-wheel truck! For me that's the biggest annoyance with it. You really need a full extra lane for a U-turn as compared to the Everest! Guessing Aussie roads are way more spacious than here in TH, so won't be much of an issue there, but in Thailand it's sure something to keep in mind.
It is big! And with that I mean BIG big! My old car is a 3.2L Everest Platinum. That was a big SUV, but after using the
Raptor for a couple of weeks, switching back to the Everest, it really feels like you're driving a Fiesta! It's strangely light, feels very nimble and even 'quick' in a strange way. It almost feels like it's dancing around driving it..
Then going back to the Raptor, you really appreciate how it is planted on the road, almost glued to it, no matter the corners, the speed.. Rock solid..heavy, but precise, hardly any body-roll yet comfortable and soft.
Absolutely love the looks. It's a beast of a car and it turns heads when you drive past.
    Enjoying every minute driving it!

I'm planning to move from AU to TH(3ish years), and a ranger is on my menu. Therefore, I found your comments very interesting even tho I want a Wildtrak or a Stormtrak at this stage. An Everest seems to be too expensive compared to a ranger due to Thailand's favourable tax treatment of Ute's.
Enjoy your Raptor and stay frosty on the roads there, especially on those U turn points on highways.

An interesting test to do would be braking performance. And not just the one run. Do 5-6 runs fully mashing the brake pedal from 100-120kph one after the other.
To see if there is any brake fade.. Because for 2.5 tonnes, the brakes do look rather small. I also think it would be a good test to add for further reviews..

    • @CarExpertAus
      @CarExpertAus  2 года назад +2

It’ll definitely have brake fade. Most cars will with a set of consistent stops. On brake size, this is only marginally heavier than a V6 Wildtrak, so it shouldn’t be too underdone. But for any faster driving, I’d be upgrading the brakes regardless.

Great review. Missing features I read someone say !!!! .... it is a modern day bargain. I'm going to repeat what you get... let's take a guess at the $$$ to attempt to make it into a BS Raptor... by giving away thousands to the aftermarket industry. .... Fox live Valve Shocks and tuned springs & Alloy wishbones & strengthen shock towers $8k, Rear diff is braced$1k, front diff lock $1k, all over stengthend chassis $2k, engine $10k at least, Bi modal open exhaust $2k, BFG KO2's $1k, semi race seats $2k, rated recovery points front and rear $1k, bash plates full length $1k. Then for free you get wider body, plus R&D to make it all work and warranty. A Wild track is $77k before on roads add all the above and it's $106k... Raptor $85k . So my answer to you... don't buy it, that way someone else can !!

This car is fun, it completely missed the whole point to be a Ute because a ute is supposed to be rugged, less digital and more mechanical to be fixed on the go. But damn it is a an excellent car for sure. 🤣
