I love this overview. I think I'd go for the Unique experience as well - I love having comfort and convenience - and being able to escape to quieter parts of the resort. The lobster dinner sounded pretty good to me too!

oo that unique lunch buffet looked so good! Aaron would love that grilled octopus. And those beach views from the buffet looked perfect. The bed in your room looked as though it could sleep 6 people 😄 Loved all the plants around the tropical pool!
We can assure you that the Unique lunch buffet was every bit as good as it looked. And we're not sure exactly how many people could have fit in that bed, but six is probably about right!
Unique here...really enjoyed it! Is Unique worth it? If you can afford the $600 per person, then I would recommend it as it gives you a few more options than the "regular" people get ; primarily, a nicer room, fewer people, an extra small buffet with no waiting, and an extension of the beach with fewer people. If the added $1200 puts you out of your price range then you really aren't missing much. And the "butler" does nothing. He shows you your room and is available if you have any questions then expects a big tip at the end.
Fabulous! Loved the comparison of all three booking accommodations...very thorough and informative! For me, I would do no less than the Unique class...such luxury with wonderful amenities! Yeah, if it's in your budget, we would definitely recommend going with the Unique. It's hard to put a price on the superior views, food, and service that we experienced in the Unique only areas. We're so happy that you found the comparisons to be helpful and that you would consider visiting the Lopesan based on our videos!

It really was a great vacation. We did not drink any of the rum while at the resort since you could get the same rum at all the bars. We have been drinking it a little since we got home, but still have 1 bottle left!

We booked Unique based on this video, unfortunately while this video seems relatively new, it’s out dated as several things mentioned were not provided or no longer available. There are no more complimentary beach bag, no slippers, no face scrubs, there was no hair dryer in our room, and lobster dinner at Mareas is no longer included. Also, the linens always seemed damp and smelled of mould. 😢

Price not considered Lopesan Unique hands down. Lopesan without Unique vs Ambar is closer, but still would go Lopesan. But for the money... we may go Ambar. That was one of the best value vacations we've ever had. The food at the restaurants was just as good as the Lopesan, as were the grounds and the beaches. Lopesan still had a big advantage on the pools though... and also the shopping (if you are into that).

We also did a walk through the property with a GM when the paint was fresh. We were staying next door at the Melia (The Level Adult Section). That said, if you have not yet joined the Lopesan Costa Bavaro Facebook group, we would recommend it. There are lots of people on there who would be happy to answer any questions you have about booking Unique or anything else relating to the resort.
Thank you! We definitely brought several drinks onto the beach. We never tried to bring food onto the beach, but I'm pretty sure you could if you wanted to.
Yes, the massage was included, but please keep in mind we visited this resort nearly two years ago now, so things may have changed since then. We'd recommend joining the "Fans of the Lopesan" Facebook Group if you haven't already. It's a very helpful group with many members that have visited much more recently who would likely be happy to answer your questions!
Is this one of the best rooms? We stayed at majestic mirage last year and the rooms were gorgeous with a separate living area and bedroom with doors to close it off and a jacuzzi on the balcony. Does this resort offer any rooms like that? The room is beautiful but seems on the small side
What we booked was the lowest level and smallest room you could get in the Unique level. We're pretty sure that they do offer larger more expensive units, but not sure if any of them have a jacuzzi n the balcony. Thanks for watching, Charlotte.
You guys are the ONLY reason we're going to Lopesan this upcoming Labor Day Weekend. Otherwise the overall reviews have been shockingly horrendous, especially for a new property that photographs so well.

We booked our Unique Experience ahead of time through the Lopesan website. We're not sure whether or not you can upgrade to Unique status upon arrival. Price differences between the two types of bookings will vary depending on when you book, but we did include the difference in prices around the 13.30 mark of this video. Thanks for watching.
When booking the unique experience, do you only get one lobster tail the whole trip? As well as only one 30min massage? Or are you able to get both daily?
Great question, Diana. You only get one 30 minute massage on your entire trip. But it was our understanding that you could get a lobster tail every night of your stay if you chose to do so. We only went to the Mareas (the restaurant with the lobster) one night though.
We were able to book a couple reservations online (about a week before we visited the resort), and the rest we booked when we arrived through one of the kiosks in the lobby. Thanks for watching, Jeff.
They have something called the mini-club (for children from 3-12 years old), which puts on a wide range of activities and workshops for different age groups. The cost of the Unique experience varies depending on the time that you book. I'd recommend checking their website for specific prices. Thanks for watching.

@@choogheem ahh I see, we haven't checked recent prices, we were at the resort and filmed in May of 2022. I do recall that restrictions following the pandemic had slowly begun to be lifted around that time. The resort wasn't near full, so that could have impacted the pricing back then.
Hi, random question but visiting in 2 months...does anyone know if they serve beer in cans? or if they pour them into plastic cups? Trying to plan on koozies and not sure if they make sense at all thank you!
I remember getting cans of beer in our mini fridge, but don't recall how it was served at the bars. I'd recommend joining the Fans of the Lopesan Facebook group and asking there. It's an extremely friendly and helpful group!

There was usually a musician in the lobby area after dark, and also some sort of live band/musician in the courtyard area on the Boulevard each night as well. There is a nightclub as well, but it opens late.
We paid for it. When you go to book a room at the resort, some of the will be identified as "Unique". Those rooms generally cost more but will come with all of the extra perks of booking Unique. Thanks for watching!
My booking was from 18th Feb to 23 Feb this resort is very nice, beautiful all the staff including cooks specialy Mr Rajinder singh 2 do t jete De coctn3 is very nice very respecting and i feel he is very hard working His cooking is super He will be a great hand in riseing lopesan costa bavaro's. in future i will chose the same resort and recomend the same to my friends thanks for amazing food and service The only thing is bad there is no any system to controle the public that occupie the chairs with their towels on the beach some emploie do the same and to provide the chairs thy make money
Thanks for your videos about this hotel. After watching we booked for a 10 day stay with the Unique upgrade. We had such an amazing time. We just got back. All I can say is that this place is AMAZING!!. From the service to the food to the decor; this place is a 10/10!! We had such a wonderful time. The weather was great and there was no seaweeds on the beach. I wish we had stayed longer but we had to get back to work. I highly recommend this place for a hassel free and very enjoyable vacation. I’m a life long traveler but really new to the resort experience. This is way beyond anything I could imagine. The food alone beats any cruise or trip I’ve been on to date. I’ll be passing these videos to my friends and family. They can visit us in our Unique room. Lol.
We agree, Bob. The food on the Unique buffet was way above any cruise ship buffet we ever experienced. We would say that the dinner experiences were on par with those on a Celebrity cruise (which are very good), but better than most we have experienced on other cruise lines. And it comes with a butler?!? 😱👏 Love the hammocks at the tropical pool, and that you have the whole pool to yourself! The g&t at La Perla looks so beautiful and yum! It just keeps getting better…a free massage! What 🤗🤗🤗
Yeah it was our first time every having a butler and first ever massage for Skylar. We didn't use the butler nearly as much as we could have, but he was very helpful when we needed him. Having entire pools to ourself was probably our favorite part of the resort. It really felt like we had a resort to ourselves at times.

Can anyone who recently stayed confirm whether the following review from roughly 1 year ago? several things mentioned were not provided or no longer available. There are no more complimentary beach bag, no slippers, no face scrubs, there was no hair dryer in our room, and lobster dinner at Mareas is no longer included. Also, the linens always seemed damp and smelled of mould. 😢 There were more recent posts and nobody else mentioned these "perks" were absent. Great insight as I was curious what all Unique added. Can you use the adult only pool and bar with the unique upgrade? I booked a swim out room thinking because I’m an adult we could just use the adult area but I guess I was wrong
Yes, Unique guests do have access to both the Adult's Only pool and bar. We actually spent a lot of time their during our say, as it was the most relaxing area of the resort and also made some of the best drinks!
I find most Carib resorts to be much better in low season. May to July is best time. Beaches not crowded, easier to get served, small more intimate crowd.

Can you reserves more than 1 restaurant per night? Just in case you don't like the food in first restaurant? Thanks so much for watching and subscribing, Kevin. We do not believe that you can reserve more than one restaurant per night. That said, if you do not enjoy the food at the restaurant you booked at, you could always go to the main buffet or to the American Restaurant, neither of which require reservations. As far as we are aware, only the Mediterranean Restaurant offers lobster, although we did also find lobster on the Unique lunch buffet! Also, if you have not already, you may want to consider subscribing to the Fans of the Lopesan Costa Bavaro Facebook Group. We found this group to be very helpful in answering questions we had about the resort prior to visiting.

Hey guys! Thanks so much for watching. When we visited, the app wasn't working prior to our stay so we called and booked restaurants for our first two nights the week prior to our visit. We booked the remaining nights upon arrival at one of the kiosks in the main lobby. Things may have changed since then though. If you haven't already, we'd recommend joining the "Fans of the Lopesan" facebook group. It's a very helpful and highly responsive group, and you can normally find several people who have visited recently that are happy to answer your questions!

We stayed at an AirBNB for a couple of days before we stayed at the resort, and our AirBNB host was kind enough to pick us up at the airport and take us to the resort! We did take a shuttle bus of some sort back, but unfortunately I can't find any info on it. I'd recommend checking out the "Friends of the Lopesan" FB group if you haven't already. It's a very active group and I'm guessing that plenty of people will be more than happy to give you recommendations on transportation.

We're at the Lopesan at now and the beach is a bit disappointing. There are boats anchor along the shoreline - literally from one side of the property to the other side. The boats completely ruin the ocean view. One of the boats blasts Latin hiphop/reggaeton music all day long. Annoying as hell. The pool is nice but, once again music is blasted all day. I wished they would just play it a little lower and mix in some English language music, not just Dominican. A variety would be nice. The buffet is very mediocre. Eat at the restaurants as much as possible. The property is very beautiful and modern. The amenities such as the coffee shop and waterpark are great. The resort is not very crowded at all. Some of the employees are very nice and friendly. Others look like this is the last place they want to be. 😂
That sucks to hear about the beach. When we visited there were a few boats at the south end of the beach and you could occasionally hear music but definitely not all the time. It sounds like there are many more now. We thought the normal buffet was pretty good for Dominican resort standards, but we did eat almost all of our meals at the Unique Buffet which was definitely a level up. Glad to hear the property is still beautiful and that at least some of the staff are still friendly 😂
@@Explorcation I don't want to make it sound all negative. The resort is one of the best we've been to so far. I'm not a fan of buffets but with kids, it gets the job done. Overall, a great resort that just needs some things changed to make it even better.

I have to say I would probably be more inclined to book the Adults only section over the Unique, although there was some advantages to the Unique experience. Probably a pet hate of mine is having so many options and not knowing what to pick unless you have videos like this or know someone that has been through the experience. It's not as easy as picking a city, garden or ocean views - everyone has a preference for that...LOL great comparison guys and looks like a fantastic resort :)
Yeah, it can certainly be annoying when you have many options but no explanation of what those options entail. We had joined a Facebook group for this resort long before we visited, and saw that there was much confusion regarding the differences between the different categories (and we were a bit confused ourselves), which inspired us to make this video. We hope it will help people make the right decision when booking at this resort and maybe save them a headache as well!
That's a great question. We know that we only ate the lobster dinner once... as we wanted to experience as many different restaurants as possible. That said, it's possible that you could have eaten it more than once. I'd recommend that you ask this question on the Fans of the Lopesan FB group if you're on Facebook. It's a very active and helpful group, with many members who've been there more recently than us that will be happy to answer your questions!
For a more relaxing trip I (Skylar) prefer the resort experience, mainly because the property is less crowded and your room is WAY bigger. Also the food on the buffets (at least at this resort) was better than most cruise buffets we've been on. But for a more adventurous vacation, definitely a cruise. Especially the ones out of PR that hit pretty much a different island every day. A resort vacation can start to get old after a few days, but exploring a new island every day definitely does not!

That said, if you have not yet joined the Lopesan Costa Bavaro Facebook group, we would recommend it. Thank you! We definitely brought several drinks onto the beach. We never tried to bring food onto the beach, but I'm pretty sure you could if you wanted to.
Hi! The 30 min massage was included in the Unique experience? Was it 1 during the whole stay?
Yes, the massage was included, but please keep in mind we visited this resort nearly two years ago now, so things may have changed since then. We'd recommend joining the "Fans of the Lopesan" Facebook Group if you haven't already. It's a very helpful group with many members that have visited much more recently who would likely be happy to answer your questions!
In comparing the beach bars, you mentioned goldfish had snacks and drinks available. You didn't mention if the Unique one also had snacks?
The Unique Beach bar did not have snacks from what we recall, but it is located just steps from the Unique Buffet.
Is this one of the best rooms? We stayed at majestic mirage last year and the rooms were gorgeous with a separate living area and bedroom with doors to close it off and a jacuzzi on the balcony. Does this resort offer any rooms like that? The room is beautiful but seems on the small side
What we booked was the lowest level and smallest room you could get in the Unique level. We're pretty sure that they do offer larger more expensive units, but not sure if any of them have a jacuzzi n the balcony. Thanks for watching, Charlotte.
You guys are the ONLY reason we're going to Lopesan this upcoming Labor Day Weekend. Otherwise the overall reviews have been shockingly horrendous, especially for a new property that photographs so well.

We booked our Unique Experience ahead of time through the Lopesan website. We're not sure whether or not you can upgrade to Unique status upon arrival. Price differences between the two types of bookings will vary depending on when you book, but we did include the difference in prices around the 13.30 mark of this video. Thanks for watching.
When booking the unique experience, do you only get one lobster tail the whole trip? As well as only one 30min massage? Or are you able to get both daily?
Great question, Diana. You only get one 30 minute massage on your entire trip. But it was our understanding that you could get a lobster tail every night of your stay if you chose to do so. We only went to the Mareas (the restaurant with the lobster) one night though.
How does booking a reservation for dinner work at the resort ?
We were able to book a couple reservations online (about a week before we visited the resort), and the rest we booked when we arrived through one of the kiosks in the lobby. Thanks for watching, Jeff.

They have something called the mini-club (for children from 3-12 years old), which puts on a wide range of activities and workshops for different age groups. @@Explorcation at around 13:47 you are showing prices. Granted it's been a year since this, but your % discount and overall prices are nothing compared to what I'm seeing. Year over year isn't the same price, but was wondering when you filmed that had such huge discount.
@@choogheem ahh I see, we haven't checked recent prices, we were at the resort and filmed in May of 2022. I do recall that restrictions following the pandemic had slowly begun to be lifted around that time. The resort wasn't near full, so that could have impacted the pricing back then.

I remember getting cans of beer in our mini fridge, but don't recall how it was served at the bars. I'd recommend joining the Fans of the Lopesan Facebook group and asking there. It's an extremely friendly and helpful group!

How was the entertainment? Do they have entertainment at night?
There was usually a musician in the lobby area after dark, and also some sort of live band/musician in the courtyard area on the Boulevard each night as well. There is a nightclub as well, but it opens late.

Yes, during our stay, all 3 were included!
how did you get the unique experience ?
We paid for it. When you go to book a room at the resort, some of the will be identified as "Unique". Those rooms generally cost more but will come with all of the extra perks of booking Unique. Thanks for watching!
My booking was from 18th Feb to 23 Feb this resort is very nice, beautiful all the staff including cooks specialy Mr Rajinder singh 2 do t jete De coctn3 is very nice very respecting and i feel he is very hard working His cooking is super He will be a great hand in riseing lopesan costa bavaro's. in future i will chose the same resort and recomend the same to my friends thanks for amazing food and service The only thing is bad there is no any system to controle the public that occupie the chairs with their towels on the beach some emploie do the same and to provide the chairs thy make money

Thanks for your videos about this hotel. After watching we booked for a 10 day stay with the Unique upgrade. We had such an amazing time. We just got back. All I can say is that this place is AMAZING!!. From the service to the food to the decor; this place is a 10/10!! We had such a wonderful time. The weather was great and there was no seaweeds on the beach. I wish we had stayed longer but we had to get back to work. I highly recommend this place for a hassel free and very enjoyable vacation. I’m a life long traveler but really new to the resort experience. This is way beyond anything I could imagine. The food alone beats any cruise or trip I’ve been on to date. I’ll be passing these videos to my friends and family. They can visit us in our Unique room. Lol.
We agree, Bob. The food on the Unique buffet was way above any cruise ship buffet we ever experienced. We would say that the dinner experiences were on par with those on a Celebrity cruise (which are very good), but better than most we have experienced on other cruise lines. Is it possible to upgrade to Unique after booking your room/trip? If so, how much does it cost?
We've heard that you can, although we've never personally tried it. I'm not sure if there is a set price, or if it varies based on time of year and amount of availability.

Yeah it was our first time every having a butler and first ever massage for Skylar. We didn't use the butler nearly as much as we could have, but he was very helpful when we needed him. Having entire pools to ourself was probably our favorite part of the resort. It really felt like we had a resort to ourselves at times.
Is Unique adults only?
No. Kids can stay within the Unique buildings. That said, Unique members do have access to the Adults Only area (pool and bar).

We just booked this for Spring 2024. There seems to be conflicting information on some of the perks. Can anyone who recently stayed confirm whether the following review from roughly 1 year ago? several things mentioned were not provided or no longer available. There are no more complimentary beach bag, no slippers, no face scrubs, there was no hair dryer in our room, and lobster dinner at Mareas is no longer included. Also, the linens always seemed damp and smelled of mould. 😢
There were more recent posts and nobody else mentioned these "perks" were absent.

Can you use the adult only pool and bar with the unique upgrade? I booked a swim out room thinking because I’m an adult we could just use the adult area but I guess I was wrong
Yes, Unique guests do have access to both the Adult's Only pool and bar. We actually spent a lot of time their during our say, as it was the most relaxing area of the resort and also made some of the best drinks!
I find most Carib resorts to be much better in low season. May to July is best time. Beaches not crowded, easier to get served, small more intimate crowd.
We couldn't agree more! This resort was only 40-60% full when we visited (depending on who you asked) and it was wonderful!

Thanks so much for watching and subscribing, Kevin. We do not believe that you can reserve more than one restaurant per night. That said, if you do not enjoy the food at the restaurant you booked at, you could always go to the main buffet or to the American Restaurant, neither of which require reservations. As far as we are aware, only the Mediterranean Restaurant offers lobster, although we did also find lobster on the Unique lunch buffet! Also, if you have not already, you may want to consider subscribing to the Fans of the Lopesan Costa Bavaro Facebook Group. We found this group to be very helpful in answering questions we had about the resort prior to visiting.

Hey guys! Thanks so much for watching. When we visited, the app wasn't working prior to our stay so we called and booked restaurants for our first two nights the week prior to our visit. We booked the remaining nights upon arrival at one of the kiosks in the main lobby. Things may have changed since then though. If you haven't already, we'd recommend joining the "Fans of the Lopesan" facebook group. It's a very helpful and highly responsive group, and you can normally find several people who have visited recently that are happy to answer your questions!

That's great to hear, Cynthia. We hope you have an amazing time! We had a bit of a unique situation when we visited. We stayed at an AirBNB for a couple of days before we stayed at the resort, and our AirBNB host was kind enough to pick us up at the airport and take us to the resort! We did take a shuttle bus of some sort back, but unfortunately I can't find any info on it. I'd recommend checking out the "Friends of the Lopesan" FB group if you haven't already. It's a very active group and I'm guessing that plenty of people will be more than happy to give you recommendations on transportation.
This may be a weird question, but are there elevators in the resident buildings?
Yes, there are elevators. Not a dumb question at all!

Thank you so much for watching, Irina. During our stay in May, the beaches were pretty clean until our final day. We have heard that during the summer months this year the seaweed on the beach has been pretty heavy though.

We did not, but our stay was quite some time ago.

How did you find out about free rum and free massage ?
It was something advertised on the website when we booked. I did a quick quick search on the website today and no longer see those on the list, it is possible that this has changed since our stay. You may be able to find out if it is still a benefit by asking the "Fans of Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino" facebook group. It was very helpful to us as we were preparing for our trip. Is there a smoking area ???

We're at the Lopesan at now and the beach is a bit disappointing. There are boats anchor along the shoreline - literally from one side of the property to the other side. The boats completely ruin the ocean view. One of the boats blasts Latin hiphop/reggaeton music all day long. Annoying as hell. The pool is nice but, once again music is blasted all day. I wished they would just play it a little lower and mix in some English language music, not just Dominican. A variety would be nice. The buffet is very mediocre. Eat at the restaurants as much as possible. The property is very beautiful and modern. The amenities such as the coffee shop and waterpark are great. The resort is not very crowded at all. Some of the employees are very nice and friendly. Others look like this is the last place they want to be. 😂
That sucks to hear about the beach. When we visited there were a few boats at the south end of the beach and you could occasionally hear music but definitely not all the time. It sounds like there are many more now. We thought the normal buffet was pretty good for Dominican resort standards, but we did eat almost all of our meals at the Unique Buffet which was definitely a level up. Glad to hear the property is still beautiful and that at least some of the staff are still friendly 😂
@@Explorcation I don't want to make it sound all negative. The resort is one of the best we've been to so far. I'm not a fan of buffets but with kids, it gets the job done. Overall, a great resort that just needs some things changed to make it even better.

I have to say I would probably be more inclined to book the Adults only section over the Unique, although there was some advantages to the Unique experience. Probably a pet hate of mine is having so many options and not knowing what to pick unless you have videos like this or know someone that has been through the experience. It's not as easy as picking a city, garden or ocean views - everyone has a preference for that...LOL

Yeah, it can certainly be annoying when you have many options but no explanation of what those options entail. We had joined a Facebook group for this resort long before we visited, and saw that there was much confusion regarding the differences between the different categories (and we were a bit confused ourselves), which inspired us to make this video. We hope it will help people make the right decision when booking at this resort and maybe save them a headache as well!

Could you have more than 1 lobster dinner ? Or book more than 1 dinner and have lobster ?
That's a great question. We know that we only ate the lobster dinner once... as we wanted to experience as many different restaurants as possible. That said, it's possible that you could have eaten it more than once. I'd recommend that you ask this question on the Fans of the Lopesan FB group if you're on Facebook. It's a very active and helpful group, with many members who've been there more recently than us that will be happy to answer your questions!

We are trying to decide between a cruise and something like this. What do you like better?
For a more relaxing trip I (Skylar) prefer the resort experience, mainly because the property is less crowded and your room is WAY bigger. Also the food on the buffets (at least at this resort) was better than most cruise buffets we've been on.
But for a more adventurous vacation, definitely a cruise. Especially the ones out of PR that hit pretty much a different island every day. A resort vacation can start to get old after a few days, but exploring a new island every day definitely does not!
