After six months, my Dissident finally arrived today.
Just to confirm, you need a heat gun to open a saberforge hilt? I noticed the emitter isnt fully in, but its stuck. Im trying to open it without cutting myself. I have a heat gun, but was wondering if there is a technique to it, because I dont want to ruin the paint job (which is different from the picture ..... but ok).

Yeah man they take a long time to send you a hilt.... First off is your saber an empty hilt? You dont want to attempt it with electronics in it. But if it is an empty hilt you will want to use your heat heat gun in a waving motion back and forth so the area that you are trying to get the thread undone is the concentrated area of heat. And it will more than likely mess up the paint unless its powder coated but even then it might. There are other solutions I have heard for breaking the glue section. Some people freeze their hilts in the freezer and it messes with the glues integrity. I feel for you man I was there not long ago. I alway weather and paint my own hilts so I just go to town until the threads come undone. And then make sure you clean the threads really well after and if you have thread lube use it.

@@NerfherderCustoms Thank you for the feed back. Yeah its an empty hilt, Dissident weathered with the dark brown leather wrap. I was planning to install a proffiee on it and already bought most of the stuff I need for this project, my first lightsaber project, but the pandemic came and I havent worked since January. One day at a time. Ill try the freezer method first. Thanks bro!

@@corazonjedi8430 Yeah man I feel you on that. It has been a crazy year and it has def affected the hobby like everything else. The threads can be a pain but you can get it. Just need to put some elbow grease in it. You may not even need to do it unless you want to use a fixed chassis or a crystal chamber chassis. Otherwise you can do a sled chassis design like I did on mine

@@corazonjedi8430 Yeah man if you can access the inside through the pommel you dont technically need the body to unthread.
