I love these videos, as someone who loves Esperance and the south coast but isn't brave enough to do the big adventures on the rocks, this is the best channel to get that vicarious hit of excitement. Must be good working in Ravy
Every time I watch one of these, it becomes an argument with the Mrs of doing a road trip to WA, and a land based run on Esperence, Albany etc. And then feeding north if needed. Got 125cc moto carrier and rod holders etc for my SUV ready. Let's go summer.

I love seeing the variety of ridiculously huge fish that you get in Oz. Very different to what we get in Scotland! I find it funny that you dislike Australian "salmon" so much when Scottish salmon is seeing as the pinnacle of fishing here - different species I believe I would love to try Harlequin or Breaksea as they must be nice fish - given they are the constant "go to" if you get em :) Cant wait to see the next video...
Australian salmon is not only a different species to proper salmon they are also a different genus, so… totally unrelated. They’re not seen as a good eating fish as they have a strong flavour. Nevertheless I like them and will always eat one, they’re brilliant in curries as they hold their large flakey pieces together when cooked.
They are like the mutton of the sea. Okay in a last resort like a stew or curry. But better options are out there. Even a frypan of baitfish like Tommies/Herring will taste better.
@@tau3457 man - that's a perfect description to give me an idea of the "joy". That being said, in Scotland we are partial to "Scotch pies", which is essentially a mutton pie - so never say never lol
"Bloody Salmon!" LOL I know your feeling especially when you are out for a feed! Very sporty and fun fish to catch especially on light gear. Never like the taste of it though, no matter how hard I try in prepping it; including fancy method the likes of Ikejime -i.e Needle the brain, cut the grills and breed them in submersed water while it's heart still pumping etc etc Sounded cruel, best humane method to prepare fish. Still not my taste compare to many others. Salmon filleted slab is great bait though especially for Mulloway in the surf.
Finally the daiwa gear comes through. The new Monocoque reels are just on another level. Have a Certate SW 10/6k, Saltist MQ, BG MQ, and a Luvias myself. So nice to use off the rocks
Daiwa sports limited were based in a town 5 minutes from where I was brought up. My cousin's girlfriend (now wife) worked there and we both had loads of Daiwa kit that was made in Scotland. Great quality gear - back then at least. Not used Daiwa stuff for a while now tho.
@@duncanmcewan1049 Oh fair, I only recently started buying daiwas, I used to use shimano siennas my whole life 🤣. The more expensive daiwa reels are on another level compared to other brands, and they are definitely a market leader in terms of fishing equipment. You should try look at the BG MQ reel if your interested.

Those "salmon" or kahawai as we call them here in NZ are a highly underrated fish..if bled correctly they're great for sashimi and even better smoked
I’ve heard they make good sashimi. Yet to try. Have eaten a few thou and if looked after they are good
There good sport they run and fight quite hard kahawai in Maori means fast swimmer basically
